데이터 표준화를 위한 패션 감성 분류 체계 (Classification System of Fashion Emotion for the Standardization of Data)

  • Accumulation of high-quality data is crucial for AI learning. The goal of using AI in fashion service is to propose of a creative, personalized solution that is close to the know-how of a human operator. These customized solutions require an understanding of fashion products and emotions. Therefore, it is necessary to accumulate data on the attributes of fashion products and fashion emotion. The first step for accumulating fashion data is to standardize the attribute with coherent system. The purpose of this study is to propose a fashion emotional classification system. For this, images of fashion products were collected, and metadata was obtained by allowing consumers to describe their emotions about fashion images freely. An emotional classification system with a hierarchical structure, was then constructed by performing frequency and CONCOR analyses on metadata. A final classification system was proposed by supplementing attribute values with reference to findings from previous studies and SNS data.

Social Comparison Theory and Interpersonal Contact: The Influence of Incidental Envy on Contacting Higher or Lower Status Others

  • Incidental envy influences behavior in various domains. However, no research, to date, has investigated whether incidental envy influences interpersonal behavior toward others who are unrelated to the emergence of the emotion. That is, the literature is silent on how those who experience incidental envy engage in interpersonal contact and how this may affect consumers. In this paper, we address this question by investigating the influence of incidental envy on interpersonal contact with others of higher or lower status based on the social comparison theory. We demonstrate that incidental envy (versus a neutral emotion) motivates people to contact higher status others to facilitate upward assimilation (experiments 1 and 2). We also show that when competition (a situational factor that heightens the personal relevance of the interaction with the target) is involved, individuals who feel envy (versus a neutral emotion) are more likely to contact lower status others to engage in downward contrast (experiment 3). We conclude with a discussion of the practical implications of our findings.

G감성척도에 의한 중국소비자 유형특성 및 패션소비 연구 (A Study on Characteristics of Chinese Consumer Type & Fashion Consumption according to G sensibility)

  • 본 연구는 세계 최대 소비시장으로 성장하고 있는 중국 소비자의 G감성 유형별 특징을 알아보고, 감성별 소비형태 및 선호 컬러를 분석하여 중국시장을 위한 기초자료로 제공하는데 목적이 있다. 조사를 위해 중국 4개 도시의 소비자를 대상으로 G감성 및 소비 형태에 대한 설문을 실시하였다. G감성유형을 분류한 결과 중국 소비자는 자신의 가치관과 정체성에 따라 행동하며, 합리적이고 논리적인 소비를 추구하는 G1유형이 가장 많이 나타났으며, 선행연구의 한국소비자에서 가장 많이 나타난 G3유형과는 다른 시장 성격을 나타냈다. 소비의 특성으로 중국소비자는 백화점에서 의류 구입을 선호하고 있으며, G2유형의 경우 백화점 다음으로 로드샵을 선호하고 있어 G감성에서 제시한 행동범위가 넓고 소비가 많은 행동파의 유형특성과 일치하고 있다. 중국소비자는 의복구매 시개인이 선호하는 컬러를 우선 구입하고 있으며, 무채색의 선호 비중이 매우 높게 나타났다. 무채색에서 검정의 비율이 가장 높았으며, 백색, 짙은 회색, 옅은 회색의 순으로 조사되었다. 유채색에서는 브라운, 오렌지, 빨강, 파랑의 순으로 나타났으며, G4유형의 경우 다른 유형에 비하여 다양한 색채 선호를 보였다. 이러한 결과는 패션디자인과 기업의 마케팅전략 기초자료로 활용 할 수 있으며, 소비자를 위한 새로운 커뮤니케이션 방법으로 활용할 수 있다.

사회적 아이덴티티의 위협과 영역 외 보상소비의도 (Social Identity Threat and Across-Domain Compensatory Consumption Intention)

  • Purpose: Current study focused on investigating the effects of the self-dissociation as a thought in which consumers dis-identify or dissociate with the threatened in-group and the escapism as a tendency of consumers' distracting themselves and avoiding their thoughts about the in-group under severe but adoptable criticism by turning their attention elsewhere on across-domain compensatory consumption intention. And It explored not only the positive roles of undesirability thought against the in-group in consumers' forming the self-dissociation and the escapism, but also the effects of negative emotion to the in-group felt at the place of being exposed to the criticism against the in-group on the escapism. Research design, data, and methodology: The experiment was performed with the in-group-threatening single factor within-subject design. Questionnaire data were collected from 196 undergraduate students, and the data were used to testing research hypotheses by structural equation model of Amos 21.0. Results: First, both the self-dissociation of consumers' dis-identifying with the in-group criticized severely by others and the escapism of their deliberately directing their thoughts and distracting their attention away from thinking the in-group positively influenced on the across-domain compensatory consumption intention. Second, the negative emotion positively influenced on the escapism. Third, the undesirability thought to the in-group under the severe criticism positively effected on the self-dissociation as well as the escapism. Putting in the nutshell, the findings of this study are consistent with the idea that consumers can overcome the negative self-discrepancy on one dimension of their social identity by distracting themselves and avoiding thinking about the threatened in-group to find meaning on another dimension which might lead them to the place of doing the across-domain compensatory consumption. Conclusions - Focusing on the results of this study, checking which aspects of consumers' social identity are linked to products or brands is at issue to marketers when the consumers are faced with the criticism against the in-group. The marketers should build the messages about their products or brand not related to the checked aspects, and communicate the messages, to lead the consumers to the place of doing the across-domain compensatory consumption by their products or brands.

20대 소비자의 애국심에 따른 일본브랜드 구매 특성 (Purchasing Japanese Brand Products According to the Patriotism of Consumers in Their 20s)

  • 본 연구는 20대 소비자의 애국심 정도에 따른 일본 브랜드 구매 행동을 규명하고자 한다. 연구방법은 20대 성인 대학생 235명을 대상으로 설문 조사를 통한 연구를 진행하였고, 설문내용은 20대 소비자의 겉옷과 속옷에 대한 기본적인 구매 태도를 질문한 뒤 대표적인 일본 브랜드 U브랜드의 겉옷과 속옷에 대한 구매 태도를 조사하였다. 그리고 애국심과 U브랜드 구매의 상관관계를 알아보기 위하여 애국심에 관한 질문을 하였고 마지막으로는 기본적인 인적사항을 조사하였다. 연구 결과는 첫째, 겉옷과 속옷에 대한 소비자의 구매 태도에 유의한 차가 있었다. 20대 소비자들은 겉옷을 구매할 때에는 디자인을 가장 중요시 여기고 속옷을 구매 할 때에는 기능성을 가장 중요한 요인으로 선택하였다. 둘째, U브랜드의 겉옷과 속옷에 대한 소비자들의 태도가 다른 점이 확인되었다. U브랜드의 겉옷 디자인에 대한 평가는 다소 긍정적이진 않으나 가격에 만족하는 경향을 보였고 U브랜드의 속옷제품의 기능성에 대한 점수는 다소 긍정적인 응답을 얻었다. 셋째, 애국심 평균을 기준으로 고저집단으로 나누어 t-test 분석한 결과, U브랜드의 의류 제품에 대한 태도와 구매 특성에 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 고애국심 소비자가 저애국심 소비자보다 U브랜드 겉옷 제품에 대해 가격과 상품성 등을 부정적으로 생각하였는데, 디자인의 평가에서만 유의한 차이가 없었다. 속옷제품에서는 저애국심 소비자는 고애국심 소비자보다 U브랜드 제품의 가격, 디자인, 기능성 등에 대해 긍정적으로 생각하고 있었다.

체면 관점에서 본 동서양 소비자들의 소비행동에 관한 고찰: 비교문화 접근방법 (An Investigation of Chemyon on Consumption Behavior of Asian and Western Consumers: Cross-Cultural Comparative Approach)

  • Purpose - It is well known that chemyon, referred to by Westerners as face, naturally penetrates the daily life of Asians and influences their cognition, emotion, and behavior. Studies related to chemyon have been conducted in marketing and consumer behavior fields (e.g., luxury products or brands, service failure and recovery, brand preferences, consumer decision making, wedding ceremony, gift giving). A bulk of studies demonstrate that chemyon influences consumption behavior in Asian consumers. Although chemyon significantly influences consumption behavior of Asian consumers, it is also a cultural phenomenon that is not completely explained within the Western viewpoint. Whereas a number of researchers have approached cross-cultural studies of Asian and Western consumers, a limited number of studies have examined it from the perspective of chemyom. The purpose of this study is to compare the phenomenon that chemyon (face) not only affects the consumption behavior of Asia and the West universally (pan-culturally), but also distinctively (culture-specifically). That is, the purpose of this study is to describe that chemyon (face) is not only a culture-specific phenomenon but also a universal phenomenon in the consumption behavior of Asian and Western consumers, even though the extent that chemyon (face) impacts consumption behavior is differentiated. This study aims to understand commonalities and differences between Asian and Western consumption behavior in terms of chemyon (face), and to suggest how to enhance marketing effectiveness in a global market based on understanding the consumption behavior of Asia and the West. Research design, data, and methodology - Using systematic literature review and meta-analysis, this study investigates consumption behavior of Asian and Western consumers from the perspective of chemyon (face). Systematic literature review was used to compare face (chemyon) consumption of Western consumers with that of Asian consumers. To verify systematic literature review, meta-analysis was also accomplished. Results - First, the influence of face (chemyon) on consumption behavior is observed in Western consumers as well as Asian consumers. Second, Asian consumers are more influenced by face (chemyon) than Western consumers. Conclusions - Overall, chemyon (face) can affect the consumption behavior of Asians as well as the consumption behavior of Westerners.

캐릭터가 부착된 제품의 구매의도에 대한 캐릭터 동일시와 긍정감정반응의 역할 (Roles of Character Identification and Positive Emotion Response on Intent to Purchase Character-Attached Product)

  • Purpose - Present study investigates character identification and emotional response to character that may affect consumers' intention to purchase the character-attached products. And this study explores whether symbolic relevance and object relevance affect the character identification, and whether character attractiveness and character salience affect the emotional response to characters. Research design, data, and methodology - SNS characters, animated characters, game characters, and traditional characters were used as experimental characters. And stationery as experimental product was used. 250 college students participated in the empirical study, and structural equation model was used to verify hypotheses. Results - First, the character identification and emotional response to characters affected the intention to purchase the products positively, and the emotional response to characters also positively affected character identification; second, symbolic relevance had no positive impact upon character identification, while object relevance had positive influence on character identification; and third, character attractiveness and salience had a positive effect on the emotional response. Conclusions - Present study contributes to the progress of character theories. Marketers should find ways to increase consumers' object relevance to characters and the level of characters' attractiveness and salience in order to promote the intent to purchase the products.

  • 본 연구는 심미적 영향요소 중 하나인 단순$\cdot$복잡이 과연 선호도와 어떠한 관계가 있으며, 다른 심미적 차원들과의 관계를 정립하기 위한 초기 연구 과정 중 하나이다. '제품이 가져야 할 가장 기본적인 기능이 제품 형태에 표현될 때 과연 심미적 영향요소 중의 하나인 단순$\cdot$복잡이 그 기능 표현에 영향을 주는가' 그리고 '기능 표현, 단순 복잡 그리고 선호도와의 관계는 어떠한가'를 알아보는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 선택된 제품들을 범주화하고 각 범주별 제품들을 대상으로 실험하여 범주별 성향을 찾고 이를 기본으로 디자인 프로세스에 적용하여 검증하도록 한다.

로고 유무에 따른 감성 분석 (Sensitivity Analysis According to the Presence of the Logo)

  • This paper analyses the sensory responses of Chinese female consumers towards different designs of perfume bottles with particular attention to the existence of logos on them. We used total 40 samples of the perfume bottles, 20 with logos on them and 20 without, and the results show that young Chinese female consumers prefer simple designs over complex designs that contain different types of free curves with vivid colors. In addition, the existence of logos on bottles was found not to change the responses significantly, meaning that the logos on bottles do not affect sensibility of Chinese female towards perfume bottles. A logo's impacts on the bottle depended in part on the bottle's color and shape. Overall, a perfume bottle with simple shapes and light colors became regarded as more resplendent when the logo was added, but a bottle with more complex shapes and vivid colors tended to become regarded as plainer after adding the logo. This shows that a logo serves as a conciliatory element in the impression of the whole bottle in the 'resplendent-plain' category.
