Big Data Application for Judgment on Consumer's Awareness of the Trademark (상표의 소비자 인식 판단을 위한 빅데이터 활용 방안)

  • As entering the Big Data age, utilization of Big Data is also increasing in the intellectual property sector. Meanwhile, the purpose of a trademark which distinguishes the source of the goods essentially is to enable the public to recognize the goods. Big Data technologies which is recently becoming a issue can be used as a tool to judge consumer's awareness of the trademark. It was difficult for judgment of trademark awareness through traditional ways. As a new way, survey methodology has bee received attention, and it was applied to the field of trademark law. However, various problems such as cost, time, objectivity, and fairness were observed. In order to overcome theses limitations, this study proposes new way utilizing big data analytics for judgment on consumer's awareness of the trademark. This new way will not only contribute to enhancing the objectivity of judging trademark awareness but also utilized to support for related legal judgments.

Consumer Complaint Behavior over Dissatisfaction with Beauty Salon Services (미용서비스 관련 소비자불만에 대한 대응행동)

  • This study was conducted to encourage dissatisfied consumers to initiate an active complaining process over beauty salon services as well as to reduce consumer dissatisfaction at the time of using such services. A questionnaire survey was conducted with female consumers over the period between December 1 and December 20, 2004. A total of 753 questionnaires were used for the final analysis. The following findings were obtained: 1. Consumer dissatisfaction index with beauty salon services was 23.02 (65.77/100) and the respondents showed the highest level of dissatisfaction with the price. 2. The level of complaints about beauty salon services was very low, as shown by the index value 7.12 (25.43/100). Most of the respondents simply did not go back to the particular beauty shop, or complained privately to people around them when they felt dissatisfied with beauty service. 3. Benefit awareness and level of dissatisfaction had the greatest effect on the complaint behavior about unsatisfaction beauty salon services.

Comparison of consumer choice between high school students and college students (고등학생과 대학생의 소비자 선택행동의 차이 비교)

  • The study purposes to compare consumer choice behavior of high school students with that of college students. Through a questionnaire survey, data were collected from 385 high school students and from 230 college students. The results were as follows; 1) consumer choice behavior patterns were sorted into 'the indifferent type', 'the bragging type', and 'the economic type'. 2) The college students tended to choose new products or famous brands, to do comparison and planned shopping, and to buy more on impulse than the high school students. On the other hand, the high school students tended to buy low-priced products or products at discount prices. 3) The female students chose new and low- priced products and bought more on impulse than the male students. 4) Most of female and male college students belonged to the 'bragging type'. 'The indifferent type' was the most common of male high school students. 5) 'The economic type' was the least of all college students and highschool students.

A Study on the Characteristics of Credit Card Delinquents (신용카드 이용대금 연체집단의 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the characteristics of late credit card bill payers. Data were collected through a questionnaire survey of 621 credit card users residing in five metropolitan cities including Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The results indicated that credit card delinquents showed irrational behavior in managing the use of credit cards. That is, they unnecessarily subscribed for credit cards, used their credit cards without signature, or excessively used the credit cards regardless of their payment capability. From these study results, two recommendations were made : 1) consumer education on credit card use and credit management and 2) law revision on regulating credit card use.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the consumer awareness and information seeking behaviors towards food additives. The data were collected from 506 adults living in Seoul, Daegu and Rusan by self-administered questionnaires. Frequencies and chi-square tests were conducted with SPSS. The results of the survey were as follows: (1) The consumers' concerns towards food additives were high, (2) Especially, many consumers were highly concerned about preservatives among food additives, (3) Two-fifths of the respondents thought the use of food additives had nothing to do with the quality of food, (4) Many respondents tried to consume the food containing less food additives, (5) Most respondents were not satisfied with the labeling of food additives, and (6) Many consumers needed the information about food additives, especially safety of food additives.

The Propensity for Materialism of Adolescent Consumer and Its Related Factors in Inchon (인천지역 청소년소비자의 물질주의 가치 성향과 관련요인)

  • The objectives of this study are to examine the propensity of materialism of adolescent consumers, to investigate the effects of demographic variables and socio-psychological variables on materialism of adolescent consumers. The survey of this study was conducted by means of self-administered questionnaire with 483 adolescent consumers attending middle school located in Inchon. Major findings are the following : (1) The propensity for materialism of adolescent consumers averages 31.18. This score is beyond the middle slightly. (2) According to the results for examining the relative influences of variables affecting materialism of adolescent consumers, the relative importance of related variables are in the order of ; affecting degree of their friends, the degree of taking in advertisement, affecting degree of school consumer education. Explanatory power of these variables totalled 25.7%.

Corporate Image Effects on Consumers' Evaluation of Brand Trust and Brand Affect

  • This research investigates relationships between a company's corporate image and consumer attitudes toward brands in the company. It also examines the fit between a company and its individual products and consumer-company identification as intervening variables between the relationships. Data for this research were collected from 347 undergraduate students through a survey. They were asked to provide their perceptions on two brands for each of 8 large Korean companies. The results indicate that corporate image directly influences brand trust, whereas it does not affect brand trust indirectly, through company-product fit. Also, the results indicate that corporate image does not directly influence brand affect, whereas it does influence brand affect indirectly, through consumer-company identification.

A Review and Outlook of Researches on Comsumption Culture (소비문화에 관한 연구의 현황과 전망)

  • The purpose of this study was to review criticallu the current slates of researches in the area of consumer culture and to suggest several ways in which it can be improved. After analyzing 87 articles in major journals which have published during the 1980s, 1990s, the major findings are as follows: First, the articles in this field has increased sharply in latter half of 1990s. Second, the subjects of these researches can be divided into three. They are general consumption culture(including consumption value), abnormal consumer behavior(including overconsumption, addictive buying and conspicuous consumption) and pro-environmental consumer behavior. Third, the adolescents is most frequently researched. Fourth, same as other areas the major methodology is positivistic one which focuses the survey analysis to investigate the relationships of many variables. Implications are also discussed with respect to future research.

The Process and Determinants of Consumer Satisfaction in Clothing (의복만족의 과정과 결정요인:20대 여성을 중심으로)

  • This thesis will study the determinants of consumer satisfaction based on the disconfirmation theory. The proposed questions are first, to find out if desire and expectation are conceptually distinct. Second, to study the effects of desire, expectation, perceived performance, desire congruency, and expectation congruency on clothing satisfaction. The data used in this thesis were obtained from a two stage longitudinal survey. SPSS WIN 8.0 was used for the analysis and the following method such as mean, correlation, t-test, hierarchical regression were applied. The results indicate that first, according to the correlation analysis and crosstab analysis, satisfaction and desire were perceived as two different concepts. Second, using the hierarchical regression analysis to compare the effects of determinants of consumer satisfaction, the model of desire, expectation, performance, desires congruency, expectations congruency best explain the clothing satisfaction. Among them, effects of performance had the strongest impact. Expectation did not influence satisfaction but desire did.

  • This study is to suggest plans that can make service quality and consumer satisfaction high in internet shopping mall , categorizing the determinants of service quality of Internet shopping mall and analysing determinants of service quality which can give much effect on consumer satisfaction. Using the survey method, the study gathered data from 115 consumers and students with purchasing experience on the web. The Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient was computed to assess the reliability of the responses to all instruments and factor analyses were performed to determine construct validity. Multiple regression was employed to test the hypotheses of this study. According to our findings, the determinants of service quality which influences consumer satisfaction are tangibles, responsiveness, problem solving and security. Several implications of the study are provided in the paper.
