  • This study was performed to investigate vibration generated from machines that were used at factories and construction works. Vibrations were measured at three points in a straight line based on distance from the vibration sources, and analyzed to assess the vibration bevels. The average vibration level of factory machines was 65.4dBV at 2m, and that of construction machines was 74.0dBV at 5m. Vibration attenuations was 4.0~8.2dBV by double distance. All such data were applied to gain coefficients of attenuation equations for predicting vibration level by distance from the vibration sources. Data recorded on tapes were analyzed to understand the characteristics of frequency because these characteristics are important factors to design a Plan for installing the vibration-Proof devices. Finally, considering results from these analysis, assessment, and prediction, the methods for reducing vibration generated from machines were discussed.

  • To investigate groundwater variation characteristics in the Hancheon watershed, Jeju Island, an integrated hydrologic component analysis was carried out. For this purpose, SWAT-MODFLOW which is an integrated surface-groundwater model was applied to the watershed for continuous watershed hydrologic analysis as well as groundwater modeling. First, ephemeral stream characteristics of Hancheon watershed can be clearly simulated which is unlikely to be shown by a general watershed hydrologic model. Second, the temporally varied groundwater recharge can be properly obtained from SWAT and then spatially distributed groundwater recharge can be made by MODFLOW. Finally, the groundwater level variation was simulated with distributed groundwater pumping data. Since accurate recharge as well as abstraction can be reflected into the groundwater modeling, more realistic hydrologic component analysis and groundwater modeling could be possible.

  • Project value can be increased by implementing the most suitable one or more Value Management Processes (VMP). For the past decades, a variety of innovative management processes have been increasingly introduced into the construction industry. Each VMP is considered to be significantly beneficial for capital facility projects to proactively achieve one or more project value objectives. This paper covers the compilation of the 44 VMPs and provides their leveraging project characteristics that require the implementation of one or more VMPs. The results of data collection establish relative importance between the VMPs and the project characteristic factors in collaboration with 51 experts from both industry and academia. In the lack of industry awareness of both VMPs and their causal factors, the results of this study can facilitate the implementation of the VMPs and ultimately enhance the value of a particular capital project.

  • Recently, as architectural concrete structures become high-rise and megastructured, concrete become high-strengthened and, by ensuring products of more stability, and rationalization of construction are required.large cross-sectional precast concrete members such as columns show large temperature increase in manufacturing process not only by external heating but also by concrete itself's hydration heating. Therefore, it is expected that specimen for management to predict strength and compression strength of precast concrete member shows different strength characteristics. Concerning this, in order to suggest strength characteristics of high strength mass concrete suitable for precast concrete application, this study comprises the inclusive investigations on the relations between core strength and the strength characteristics per member cross-section dimensional value and per water-bonding material ratio value.

  • In this study, in order to understand the needs for infrastructure services experienced by the public, we compared the level of infrastructure service satisfaction and analyzed the characteristics of infrastructure services by region. In this study, as a result of comparing the level of infrastructure satisfaction between regions, transportation and living infrastructure services were generally low. However, the characteristics of infrastructure services within the region are clearly different from the results of the infrastructure satisfaction between regions. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the level of infrastructure satisfaction within the overlooked region, and the satisfaction, improvement importance, respondent characteristics, and quantitative indicators need to be considered.

  • The construction noise Is one of the main causes of environmental impact. The complaints about it have been increasing every year. In order to reduce construction machinery noise, the product noise labeling for construction machinery has been recommended since 1 February 1996 and In the near future the government will convert the recommended product noise labeling to the mandatory product noise labeling for high noise construction machinery. Therefore, we investigated the noise and vibration level of 302 construction machines in construction work sites. This paper presents the basic data that will be used for setting the standard of construction machinery noise and predicting the noise level near construction work sites in environmental Impact assessment.

  • Non-working days owing to climatic factors have been negatively affected in productivity of construction, such as delays of project completion times, decrease productivity of construction. Especially non-working days of steel erection work is about 58 days, it is influenced deleteriously to estimating uncertain construction duration. To solve this problem, Construction Factory(CF) and sliding roof system installed CF's upper side are developed in korea recently. This study is proposed the design of sliding roof system through assess relation of requirements and technical characteristics using Quality Function Deployment(QFD). The basis data for applying QFD is collected from literature reviews and questionnaires/interviews targeting system developer, experts and researchers.

  • The characteristics of construction work cause excessive strain on specific body parts of the construction craft workers. However, there are few tools to mane an accurate measurement of the load on the musculoskeletal system, and the musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) experienced by the workers have not been properly understood. So, there is an urgent need for development of a tool to measure the load on the musculoskeletal system. Therefore, this research aims to develop a musculoskeletal load measuring device for construction workers. In order to eliminate the noise and errors, an accelerometer, gyro sensors and the Kalman Filter are used in the device developed in this research.

  • In the construction industry, materials management is one of the most important components in construction engineering life cycle. Materials management optimization is one of the research subjects in the field of construction management. In the materials management system of a construction project, the suitability of selecting procurement planning strategy will influence the result of project completion. This study conducts literature review at first and also refers the related issue in other industry's application. Associated with the characteristics of construction project in civil engineering and the concept of object oriented design applied in the materials management, this research is aimed to establish a construction materials requirement preliminary system.
