Construction projects are high-risk activities. When undertaking such projects in an international setting, it can be complicated by foreign exchange (FOREX) fluctuation risk. This affects the construction business performance in various ways, namely its progress due to delays, which in turn create further problems, specifically cost overruns as a result of price increase in raw materials, disputes, arbitration, litigation and even, total abandonment. Thus, the effective management of FOREX fluctuations is crucial. Previous studies have focused on the need for contract safeguards, adequate insurance, careful planning and management, as well as foreign exchange futures hedging to address some of the risks triggered by FOREX fluctuations. An analysis of FOREX fluctuations in the international construction industry revealed that more often it was focused on project-specific issues. Currently, there is a relative lack of awareness on Organizational Capabilities (OC), the abilities that owned by the organization, which is essential in managing the impact of FOREX fluctuations. Where research has focused on OC, these are viewed in isolation. Therefore, this study attempts to close the gap by proposing a framework on managing the impact of FOREX fluctuations in the international construction industry, employing the OC perspective.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the problem of BTL business through the sensitivity analysis of financial model and presented efficiency business strategy when private business owner propose their business. For this, we analyzed the sensitivity of financial model after analyzed costs of the school facility construction case for each place of business. The results of this study are as follows. 1)As the results of the sensitivity of financial model, requirement-earning rate for the results of analysis was decreased average 2.28 points (0.5%) per increasing 0.10% and Construction costs and the maintenance costs were decreased average 10.73 points (2.38%), 6.22 points(1.38%) for increasing 1billion won. 2) The Problem of BTL business according to the sensitivity analysis of financial model was analyzed that the price consultation low investments, and estimation from personal consideration caused it. So, it was analyzed to increase maintenance costs is more efficient method than to increase construction costs.

The government has established various policies focusing on accident prevention to reduce the accident rate in the construction industry, but the effect is still insignificant. These results allude that there are still many problems in terms of usability. Although construction safety accidents usually have characteristics that occur during construction, the laws and systems should include the pre-construction cycle (plan/order - design - construction business management- construction) to eliminate risk factors in advance. The purpose of this study is to analyze the performance evaluation of the construction safety system before construction rather than during construction. In the pre-construction phase (plan/ order-design-constuction business management), we intend to investigate and analyze measures to prevent safety accidents and identify a system that lacks the ability to implement. Specifically, we analyzed what to focus on as precautionary measures in the planning, ordering, designing, and supervising. To improve them, we made a questionnaire based on the role related to construction safety for each subject, and seek implications for lack of performance through interviews. Based on the results, some ways to improve the safety system were proposed.

The cooperative relationship between Employer and Contractor in the construction industry is the most important factor to achieve the project success. Employer shall draw the Contractor's cooperative behavior during executing the project. A study on the impact of the Owner's power on the contractor's cooperative behavior is rare in the construction industry in Korea even though the negative impact of the high-power distance between the Employer and the Contractor has been a hot issue in Korea. In this empirical study, it is shown that the Employer's power can address the contractor's cooperative behavior. The respondents were mostly employees in the domestic construction companies who have experienced in the construction projects. The total number of respondents was 317 effectively. The multiple regression analysis using SPSS 21.0 were conducted to verify the hypotheses. In conclusion, the Mediated Power is positively associated with the In-Role Behavior and with the Extra-Role Behavior. Some of Non-Mediated Power is positively associated with the In-Role Behavior and with the Extra-Role Behavior. It seems that the Contract underestimate the Employer's Expert Power. It was known that the cooperative power caused by Non-Mediated Power is good for long term relationship of the business to business transaction. So it is highly recommended that the Employer shall foster its expertise.

Recently construction companies expand position for apartment house in construction market because of house supply rate increase and its amount. In addition, because the focus of house sale market has moved to customer from supplier, the importance of defect management is being issued currently. However, current apartment defect management is not satisfied with customer's demand for the lack of business process management, management organization, information feedback, and readiness for defect in construction phase. To solve this problem, this study proposed business process management improvement model for defect management. Proposed improvement model make information feedback, defect management business quality improvement, and improper process improvement through integrating defect management and quality management. It is expected to contribute to customer's satisfaction improvement and reliance improvement for construction companies.

"The Law of purchasing policy for market support of small and medium business" was legislated to support small and medium industry by expanding purchase and revised consistently for the activation. And then the government made the public construction direct purchase compulsory about design items designated by president on small and medium business based on this law. However, secureing quality, tardiness and field material staff's heavy duty were arisen from approximately 120 direct market purchase items. The legislative intent of law is in accord with Win-Win growth between major company and small and medium business. However material staff who works in the field based on this law has difficulties with material securing quality, JIT(Just In Time), cost push. This study reclassified procurement items of "the direct market purchase system" reasonably and then suggested performance criteria for evaluation. The suggested result will contribute to vatalize the direct market purchase system.

Service Oriented Architecture(SOA) is an enterprise-scale IT architecture for linking software resources available on the network. SOA is believed to become the future enterprise solution that promises the agility and flexibility by integrating business processes through composition of the software services across enterprises. The first step for SOA construction is to identify the services. In this paper, we present a process-based service identification methodology for SOA through a case study of an IT company. Our methodology is composed of three steps: Processes (business & technical processes) analysis and systems analysis, Service candidates selection, and Service evaluation and construction planning. This framework would be practical and could be accepted to other organizations as it has been developed through the real case.

As a result of the policy for enforcing the information technology led by government and the effort of companies to get over economic crisis through the reformation of business process, the ERP market is being active. However, because imported ERP products that are supplied currently are designed for standard and rationality, they have a limit to support custom processes of domestic companies in South Korea. On the contrary, ERP products by domestic companies in South Korea are unable to support a consistent methodology of constructing ERP system. This is main reason why much time and costs are consumed than that of an original plan. To succeed in ERP construction, the purpose of ERP setup must be defined. To accomplish this end, it is required to analysis business process completely and to make a plan in detail. For ERP providers, they must support a characterized ERP construction methodology and lower the construction cost by improving an ERP package easy to customize[5].

The value of intangible assets of a company attracts attention in enterprise management environment drastically changing. Following such a trend, many companies have adopted knowledge management. Especially in construction industry of which success of a project is easily affected by the capacity of various participants and work performers, we may find many cases to which the knowledge managements have been adopted. However, the domestic design companies have tended to be late to introduce the knowledge management or have difficulty in effective use of KMS already constructed. This study suggests KMS based on BPM (Business Process Management) and drives its effects to improve problems mentioned above. We drives the expected effects by studying the existing studies and surveying domestic design companies and suggests Prototype for introducing a real system.

Although the importance of creative thinking is rapidly increasing in the new century, the generation of creative ideas and its application in the construction industry have been considered relatively difficult. Thus there have been a few studies on the subject that how to apply creative thinking tools with empirical evidence in the construction industry. Value engineering(VE) has been widely applied in the design phase of construction projects due to the government regulation, Brainstorming has been the most prevalent idea generation techniques in the VE activities during the past several decades. Contrary to popular belief, the performance of brainstorming is not so good. It is known as the brainstorming myth. This paper proposes the business creativity codes(BCC) as an alternative idea generation tool in the design phase VE of construction projects. In order to examine the effectiveness of the BCC, 50 successful field cases awarded in the design VE competition of government agency are used. The result shows that the BCC can be used as an effective idea generation tool in the design phase VE construction projects.
