  • It is difficult to predict industrial accidents in the construction industry because many accident factors, such as human-related factors and environment-related factors, affect the accidents. Many studies have analyzed the severity of injuries and types of accidents; however, there were few studies on the prediction of injured body parts. This study aims to develop a classification model to predict the part of the injured body based on accident-related factors. Construction accident cases from June 2018 to July 2021 provided by the Korea Construction Safety Management Integrated Information were collected through web crawling and then preprocessed. A naïve Bayes classifier, one of the supervised learning algorithms, was employed to construct a classification model of the injured body part, which has four categories: 1) torso, 2) upper extremity, 3) head, and 4) lower extremity. The predictor variables are accident type, type of work, facility type, injury source, and activity type. As a result, the average accuracy for each injured body part was 50.4%. The accuracy of the upper extremity and lower extremity was relatively higher than the cases of the torso and head. Unlike the other classifications, such as spam mail filtering, a naïve Bayes classifier does not provide a good classification performance in construction accidents. The reasons are discussed in the study. Based on the results of this study, more detailed guidelines for construction safety management can be provided, which help establish safety measures at the construction site.

  • The study presents work information classification system of apartment house which can organize all construction management services throughout the planning and management of a construction such as the decomposition of the design process, the assembly of construction process and cost estimating, etc. In addition, the study suggested a way to connect work information classification system based on a relational database in working order and built a conceptual model for automated cost estimating by utilizing established data base. A conceptual model for automated cost estimating will resolve the fundamental problems of the existing cost estimating system and will be able to take advantage of scientific cost estimating system at the construction site of apartment house.

  • Currently, it is not popular to use the STEP based product information in the construction drawing files, in spite of the importance and possibility of using various product data in drawing files on the CALS/EC environment. This paper aims to demonstrate a construction drawing information management system based on ISO 10303/STEP. To achieve this aim, the authors have analyzed the current construction drawing information classification hierarchy widely used for domestic and international, and examined the material data connection mechanism within CAD drawing data, and finally investigated the management systems for construction documentations and drawings in a public companies. Therefore, the expected benefit of the proposed system is that STEP drawing information management will be done standardization and the information of STEP construction drawing can be managed, shared and supported design business through materials data connection.

  • Nowadays, the enormous information from each industry has been brought out. According to the advanced information technology, those data have been useful to the point of Cost & Time in the domestic construction industry. Due to the temporary characteristics of construction industry, the various information have only been used just one time and not recycled. There are few studies for the use and management of construction information. Compared with other stages in project life-cycle, the construction stage includes the most important and various information from field. It will be desirable that one should study for developing the use of construction information. With this thesis, this study suggests the conceptual classification model for construction information management.

  • Our government suggested an integrated construction information classification system (CICS) for improving construction information exchange between project participants. However, because a database for integrating construction documents and drawings is insufficiently built, there are many restrictions in using CICS. Therefore, this study suggests a methodology to integrate and manage the construction documents and drawings by CICS. The methodology suggested in the study is verified to a web-based construction documents and drawings management system with integrated DB.

  • As information technologies in construction field get developed, various studies and projects are in progress for improvement of construction industry. Meanwhile, web-basis online system for building materials is tending upward. However, most of the informations about classification system for building materials and specifications are not systematic yet. Most field staffs have some troubles in making full use of the material information, repeating inefficient works from constructional design to the maintenance of it. This study designed auto-categorization system classified by materials, multi-search engines, auto-converting/creating electronic catalog as well as RFID search support to provide standardized building materials information.

  • This paper presents a fundamental study to establish a standardization system of the Construction Continuous Acquisition and Life-cycle Support(CALS). States of standardization in the Construction CALS were reviewed to find some defects in developing CALS system in construction industry. It is analyzed that three of major parts were needed to put up a standardization system for the Construction CALS. Firstly, the range of Construction CALS standardization is set up by identifying of Construction CALS and defining the standard and standardization. Secondly, the strategy to enable more effective implementation of Construction CALS standardization and the relationship of the concerned system presented can be used for establishing the Construction CALS standardization system. In addition, the spread and application device is proposed for using Construction CALS standards at public institutions and construction related companies. Conclusively, a classification system of the Construction CALS standards was proposed and some objects to be standardized were presented in the classification system. What were studied in this paper will provide the primary information and guidance to develop a guideline for standardization of the Construction CALS.

  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools have not only increased the use of technology in the design process, but also increased the need for more information standard systems. The object classification system consists of 327 types of construction results obtained from 25 kinds of facilities, 174 types of parts, and 207 types of construction parts. In the previous study, the property classification system was developed into 4 major classifications, 13 middle classifications, 58 small classifications (category), and 333 attribution information of roads and rivers. It is extremely difficult to input the property information according to such extensive object classification. In addition, the development of external applications such as Revit plug-ins has created a need to automate specific and repetitive tasks. Therefore, following the BIM property classification system, an attribute input program was implemented for the system to enhance the productivity and convenience of the BIM users.

  • In this paper, a new GA-based methodology with information granules is suggested for construction of the fuzzy classifier. We deal with the selection of the fuzzy region as well as two major classification problems-the feature selection and the pattern classification. The proposed method consists of three steps: the selection of the fuzzy region, the construction of the fuzzy sets, and the tuning of the fuzzy rules. The genetic algorithms (GAs) are applied to the development of the information granules so as to decide the satisfactory fuzzy regions. Finally, the GAs are also applied to the tuning procedure of the fuzzy rules in terms of the management of the misclassified data (e.g., data with the strange pattern or on the boundaries of the classes). To show the effectiveness of the proposed method, an example-the classification of the Iris data, is provided.

  • This study aims to standardize the work classification system in spatial data. It is the base frame to classify the general information systematically in spatial data construction process. Work process of the surveying firm and rules for basic surveying which is being accomplished in the NGII(National Geographic Information Institute) are investigated and analysed. Therefore, types, individual process, and results of surveying work is standardized. If the work classification system from this study is adopted as the national standard and is also advanced by construction methodology, the spatial data will be managed futuristically and systematically.
