  • On the way of construction in harbor area, scourin problems took place slowly failure of embankment in the beginning of construction in sites. For studying on the scouring properties during revetment construction in silty sand soil layers, this paper is carried out on lessons of case studies of numerical seepage analysis, scouring countermeasures in dredged landfill area.

  • Artesian Pressure exists in Hwa Jeon Project Site of Nakdong Delta Area. Maxium value of the pressure ranges between 06 tonf/m2 and 1 3 tonf/m2 in the design site. This paper presents a design case study considering the Artesian Pressure to calculate the consolidation settlement of the deep marine clay.

  • A considerable number of construction disasters occur on pathways. Safety management is usually performed on construction sites to prevent accidents in activity areas. This means that the safety management level of hazards on pathways is relatively minimized. Many researchers have noted that hazard identification is fundamental to safety management. Thus, algorithms for helping safety managers to identify hazardous areas are developed using automated data collection technology. These algorithms primarily search for potential hazardous areas by comparing workers' location logs based on a real-time location system and optimal routes based on BIM. Potential hazardous areas are filtered by identified hazardous areas and activity areas. After that, safety managers are provided with information about potential hazardous areas and can establish proper safety countermeasures. This can help to improve safety on construction sites.

Investigation on the Description Method of Extrusion Die Surface using NURBS Surface and Area Mapping Method (NURBS 곡면과 면적 사상법을 이용한 압출 금형곡면의 표현 방법에 관한 연구)

  • In order to construct the extrusion die surface of arbitrarily shaped sections, an automatic surface construction method based on NURBS surface and area mapping method is proposed in the present work. In the present study, a center point for area mapping is determined by introducing the marring concept based on constant area proportionality between original billet and final product. The characteristic points of inlet profile is determined using the traditional area mapping method and the root finding numerical method. The inlet and outlet profiles are precisely described with NURBS curves using the characteristic points of entry and exit sections. For the construction of NURBS surface, an interpolation method for the pre-determined two section curves has been developed to be used in the generation of interior control points and weights. To show the validity of the proposed method, automatic die surface generation is carried out for the several kinds of shaped sections.

  • In recent times, multi-centralization and decentralization as well as large Capital area and suburbanization in the spatial structure of capital area. With rapid growth, urbanization and industrialization are unsystematic, and growth inequality between regions caused negative effects such as discordant centralization and decentralization, fluctuating land value, and gap between living conditions. Accordingly, this study analyzed urban spatial indexes by the self-governed body in the capital area such as Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi province for the analysis of the regional inequality phenomenon. We examined the characteristics of temporal and spatial changes in urban spatial structure in the capital area by utilizing the distribution pattern and density of city indexes such as population, employment, etc, and then drew the commonality of those factors through factor analysis. We evaluated the drawn results through the city standard index by each city, conducted factor score analysis, and identified the interaction between each factor and Housing Purchase Price Composite Indices index, housing rent price index(Housing Jeonse Price Composite Indices), land price fluctuation rate, diffusion ratio of house, and financial independence.

A Study on the Remodeling of Injeongjeon Area at Changdeokgung Palace in 1908 (1908년 창덕궁 인정전 일곽의 개조에 관한 연구)

  • During the Joseon Dynasty, Injeongjeon area at Changdeokgung Palace was a core space in which major state affairs took place. Since founded in 1405, the Injeongjeon area's spatial composition has been changed while it was repeatedly burned down and rebuilt several times. However, despite many studies and researches on the Chandeokgung Palace and the Injeongjeon area, the changes of the area in the 20th century have not been examined thoroughly. This study attempts to find out the procedure and purposes of the remodeling of the Injeongjeon area in 1908. It is possible to presume that the motif of this remodeling construction, worked out by the Residency-General, was to transform the area similar to Ekkensho or Audience Hall area at Meiji Palace regarding the following facts: only Japaneses' participation in the construction, renaming the area as Alhyunso (Ekkensho), and involvement of Ito Hirobumi. Comparing plans of the remodeled Injeongjeon area at the Chandeokgung Palace with the Ekkensho area at the Meiji Palace, we can confirm this presumption and suggest the possibility that the Residency-General wanted to reduce the majesty and power of the Joseon Dynasty's Palace by this remodeling.

  • Field evaluation of new scour countermeasure using geobag and aggregate is performed to prepare for the basis of design and construction standard in Korea. Polyester non-woven geotextile is determined as a geobag material and tire cord is used to sew up the geobag which contain aggregate. Hwasang-gyo(bridge) is selected as a pilot test site through office review and field investigation. According to the design flood of Hwasang-gyo(bridge), the size and volume of geobag are calculated and construction area and required number of geobags are computed by considering the specification of the pier and foundation of the bridge. After construction, scour depth around geobag construction area is measured and the stability of geobag is ascertained by using pole and digital camera.
