Skin conductance level (SCL) is used to analyze the individual differences in pathological states. The points of measurement were on the back of the second metacarpals, according to the Zhang's biological whole body medical treatment method. SCL was measured in 38 healthy men and women and in 98 patients in lung, liver, stomach, kidney, and paralysis. The classification of the physical constitution was done to them with respect to Lee's physical constitution theory. The following tendencies were observed. 1. SCL in patients group is lower than that in healthy group. 2. In healthy group, SCL in micro-positive physical constitution is higher than those of micro-negative and macro-negative physical constitution. 3. In patients group, SCL in micro-positive physical constitution is lower than those of micro-negative and macro-negative physical constitution vice versa.

Objectives In this study, we tried to examine that Sasang Constitutional differences affect the direction of the treatment of anger by comparing the effect of mindfulness meditation for anger scale in accordance with the difference of the constitution. Methods We analysed 105 college student's Constitution by Questionnaire for the Sasang Constitution Classification II and the effect of mindfulness meditation for anger by State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory Korean version(STAXI-K), Korean Version of the Behavioral Anger Response Questionnaire(K-BARQ). Volunteers who participated in this study were 105 people, except for person that did not properly entered the anger scale and Questionnaire for the Sasang Constitution Classification II, the subjects of analysis for State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory Scale were 45 and for the Behavioral Anger Scale were 49. Results & Conclusions The result of the effects of mindfulness meditation according to Sasang Constitution was as follows. The tendency to try to disperse and avoid the anger was increased through meditation for all subjects. The diffusion of male subjects and the avoidance of female subjects was increased. The effect of meditation on anger did not differ according to Sasang Constitution, constitutional differences did not affect the effects of meditation. The tendency of avoidance of anger was increased in Soyangin, Anger-out was decreased and the tendency of avoidance and diffusion of anger were decreased in Taeeumin through meditation.

Background : Ephedra (Ephedra sinica) has been widely used to treat respiratory disease in traditional medicine of East Asia for over a hundred years. Despite safety concerns raised by some, the use of ephedra in traditional medicine is documented over more than 1,800 years. It is well established that ephedra is one of the central medicines in Korean 'Seseng constitution' medicine. In Sasang constitution medicine, all humans can be divided into one of four types: Soeumin, Soyangin, Taeumin or Taeyangin, and each constitution type has their own typical characteristics. Accordingly, it is hypothesized that the adverse effects of ephedra differ depending on the Sasang constitution classification. Objectives : The aim of this study was to determine adverse effects of ephedra which is classified as a Taeumin herb, and to observe whether the response differs or not. according to Sasang constitution classification. Methods : The study design was a double-blind randomized controlled trial. The subjects were healthy adults 20 - 50 years old who agreed to participate in this study. They were allocated through randomization to either ephedra group (N=55) or placebo group (N=24). where ephedra extract (6 g of dried ephedra) and placebo with similar opaque capsules were given twice for one day. To compare the adverse events of ephedra according to Sasang constitution classification, we analyzed blood pressure (systolic and diastolic), pulse rate, the morning questionnaire, and patient's global assessment scale score for well known adverse events: palpitation, headache, sweating, tiredness, dyspepsia, and dry mouth. Results : After ingestion of ephedra, the pulse rate had a significant increase in all constitution types. The changes of diastolic pressure in Soeumin and the changes of pulse rate in Soeumin, Soyangin and Taeumin had a significant increase in the ephedra over the control group. In the ephedra group, the palpitation and dyspepsia score of the patients' global assessment scale had a significant increase in Soeumin, with palpitation and sweating score increasing in Soyangin. Others observations were insignificant results. Conclusion : The results of this study may confirm that the physical responses or adverse effects of herbs differ for each type of Sasang constitution. Future studies using other herbs will be required to ascertain the herbal drug reaction of Sasang constitutions.

The main idea of Sasang medicine is that everyone has his own unique constitution. There are four kinds of constitutions and these are Taeyang, Soyang, Teaum and Soum. Although Sasang medicine is a unique and originative medical theory with creative ideas of Korean traditional medicine, the classification of individual constitution mainly depends on the methods which may not be objectively proven and scientifically understood. This study was carried out tn establish scientific understanding of Sasang medicine by investigating the possible genetic difference among four constitutions. Sasang constitution classification was performed by Sasang medicine research group in Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine and Kyung Hee University, Genomic DNA was prepared from the blood of individuals of different constitutions and RAPD(Random amplified polymorphic DNAs) analysis was then carried out to investigate the possible difference among different constitutions on DNA level. For RAPD analysis, ten different random primers were applied to Teaum, Soyang and Soum group DNA samples and the presence of DNA markers specific for each constitution was investigated.

Background : Till now Efficacy of Taeyangin medicine have not existsd in Medical Oriental medical, QSCC II(Questionnaire of sasang Constitution Classification II) can't discriminate Taeyangin is known to everybody. Objective : We have made an Effort to find out Essence of Taeyangin's Disease. Method : we have examined patient's feeling of improvement, Disease entity, Term of taking medicine, Period of ilness With eath symptoms, Comparison Taeyangin part Marks of QSSC II with Marks of improved Taeyangin questionnaire. Result : According to 43 Case of Patients Treated with Ogapijangchuk-tang, Ogapijangchuk-tang is more effective to cure Fatigue taking Headache and Dizziness than Myalgia and so on. and Item of more improved Taeyangin's constitution Question is more effective than Item of Taeyanin's constitution question in QSCC II.

1. Purpose This study has focused on response rates of the questionnaire which considered as a basic data to identify constitution for American. 2. Methods By analysing the tendency of the respondents who has defined constitution by clinical diagnosis and comparing of their answers, the result of their constitution analysis by our questionnaire were re-examed. The answer of each question to each constitution were tested how it is relevent to a scale of a constitution. Each item response rate on SF_SSCQ-A was analysed about those who had been tested and diagnosed as Taeyangin, Soyangin, Taeeumin, Soeumin respectively. 3. Results There were the 55 significant items; 13 Taeyangin items, 13 Soyangin items, 20 Taeeumin items, 9 Soeumin items. However, there were the 11 low response rate items (below 10 %) and 4 no response items.

The characteristic fitness of food to each Sa-sang constitution and the relationship between Han-Yeoul characteristics and chemical composition after classifying Samgye-tang ingredients and other food into Ohn-Yeoul-Ryang-Han characteristic were assessed. When the suitable constitution to the each characteristic was investigated after classifying Samgye-tang ingredients and other food into Han, Ryang, Pyound, Ohn and Yeoul of which fitness case for Soeumin was 44∼63% but fitness case for Soyangin and Taeyangin was only 0∼18%. When the relationship between Samgye-tang ingredients and other food classified into Ohn-Yeoul-Ryang-Han and chemical composition of fatty acid, amino acid, vitamin and mineral was investigated, the value of correlation coefficient was extremely low. There was not the relationship between chemical composition and Han-Yeoul classification. Therefore it should be further investigated the relationship between characteristic and chemical composition by additional analysis index.

We verified the reproducibility of constitution by IGM and the agreement rate between sasang constitution by QSCCII and constitution by IGM. We analyzed the results of 64 subject who were judged as identical sasang constitution by repeated QSCC II. First, we compared the two results of constitutions by IGM hat peformed by one O.M.D(Oriental Medicine Doctor) at an interval of one year. Second, we examined hypothesis established by one O.M.D, that is about relation of constitutions by IGM and QSCCII, such as I type-Taeeumin, II type-Soyangin and III type-Soeumin in constitutions. There were no statistical significances in reproducibility of constitution by IGM. Although there was a tendency of relevance of sasang constitution by QSCC II with constitution by IGM, there was no statistical significance. Hypothesis that is established by clinical experiences must be verified by an effective statistical method. And there is a necessity to complement the method including mechanical measurements about constitution classification which are performed by a diagnosis relying on individual intuition.

1. Objectives The main ingredient of ephedra is ephedrine which affects on autonomic nervous system induce some adverse effects just like vasoconstriction, hypertension, tachycardia, miosis, insomnia, dizziness, headache, and etc. and heart disease. If we use Mahuang according to the Sasang constitution classification in clinic, we could not only may minimize the anxiety but maximize the potential curative value in Asthma Treatment. 2. Methods On a day three times in Mahangjungchentang taken patients who with Ventricular septal defect in the aftermath of the RBBB. We are observed that the main symptoms of change, vital sign, sleep, stool, urine, heart disease. 3. Results Teaumin with asthma, the effect of Mahuang, and the side effects are fewer. The individual effects of herbs are important. but Sasang constitutional effects are important too. 4 Conclusions Mahuang can increase heart disease. But there was a difference among Sasang constitution classification. This has no side effects from Teaumin than other constitutions. If we use Mahuang according to the Sasang constitution classification in clinic. We have an excellent effect on the treatment of asthma.

Therefore, In this paper, be going to propose a methodology for developing practitioner's intuition to objective equipment by visualize, measuring and quantize practitioner's a shape of the body and its countenance methods. For this, be going to extract characteristic elements, which are needed to assort Sasang constitution classification, from front and side face and distinguish four constitutions. Finally, usefulness of method proposed by an experiment world prove.
