연소실 및 추진제 변화에 따른 고체로켓 모터의 L* 불안정에 관한 연구 (Effect of Combustors and Propellant Parameters on the L* Instability of Solid Rocket Motors)

  • In this paper, a theoretical study of low frequency non acoustic instability, the $L^*$ instability, of a solid rocket motor is investigated. The $L^*$ stability criterion is determined by analysing the $L^*$ stability curves of two very distinct propellants for five different geometrical combustors. The $L^*$ instability of two extreme fuels showed totally different behavior in terms of operating pressure of the combustor. A parametric study on the stability for different chamber volume and different throat area keeping constant $L^*$ is conducted and analyzed. It was found that one of the main parameters, the non-dimensional critical characteristic time, requires an enough margin from the critical $L^*$ stability curve.

라디칼 점화 부실 혼합형 CNG DI 엔진의 연소특성에 관한 기초연구 (A Basic Study on Combustion Characteristics of Radical Ignition Sub-chamber Type CNG DI Engine)

  • After the recent fabrication of diesel vehicle exhaust gas by Volkswagen, nitrogen oxides ($NO_x$) and particulate matter (PM) are drawing attention as representative pollutants included in exhaust gas. When gasoline and diesel fuels are combusted through direct injection into a combustion chamber at high pressure, PM emission is actually increased. To find a solution to this problem, a basic study was conducted to derive an optimized variable for combustion of compressed natural gas (CNG) by applying CNG, acknowledged as a clean fuel, to direct injection system. The essence of this study is in the introduction of a radical ignition technology for compressed natural gas (RI-CNG) in a sub-chamber type engine. The direct injection system was applied to a sub-chamber to remove residual gas from previous combustion cycle. In addition, optimal mixer distribution was achieved by precisely setting ignition timing based on fuel injection timing and excess air ratio.

기체 에틸렌/산소 Tri-arc 회전 데토네이션 엔진 실험연구 (An Experimental Study of Tri-arc Rotating Detonation Engine Using Gaseous Ethylene/Oxygen)

  • 회전 데토네이션 엔진(Rotating Detonation Engine, RDE)은 기계 장치나 유동이 아닌 데토네이션 파만이 연소실 벽을 따라 회전한다. 따라서 RDE 단면이 원형이어야 할 필요가 없으며 임의 단면의 닫힌 형상이 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 임의의 단면을 가지는 RDE의 한 가지 예로써 tri-arc 단면 형상의 RDE를 설계하였으며, 실험적으로 작동 및 성능 특성을 살펴보았다. 동압 센서와 고속카메라를 통하여 데토네이션 파의 회전을 확인하였으며, 오목 면과 볼록 면에서 질량 유량에 따른 데토네이션파의 특징을 알아보았다. 본 연구에서는 유량 조건에 따라 17.0 N에서 96.0 N의 추력 수준을 얻을 수 있었다.
