The proposed battery charger presented in this paper is suitable for Lead-Acid Battery and the dc/dc buck converter topology is applied as a charger circuit. The technique adopted in this charger is constant current & constant voltage dual mode, which is decided by the value of voltage of proposed battery. Automatic mode change function is detected by the percentage value of level of battery charging. CC Mode (Constant Current Mode) is operated when charging level is below 80% of the total charging of Battery voltage and above 80% of battery voltage charging, CV Mode (Constant Voltage Mode) is automatically operated. As the charging level exceeds 120%, it automatically terminates charging. The feedback signal to the PWM generator for charging the battery is controlled by using the current and voltage measurement circuits simultaneously. This technique will degrade the damage of proposed type of battery and improve the power efficiency of charger. Finally, a prototype charger circuit designed for a 12-V 7-Ah lead acid battery is constructed and tested to confirm the theoretical predictions. Satisfactory performance is obtained from simulation and the experimental results.

In this paper, the proposed charging algorithm is converted from the charging mode to compensate the transient state in the solar battery charging system. The maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control methods and the various charging algorithms for the optimal battery charging are reviewed. The proposed algorithm has excellent transient characteristics compare to the previous algorithm by adding the optimal control method to compensate the transient state when the charging mode switches from the constant current mode to the constant voltage mode based on the conventional constant-current constant-voltage (CC-CV) charging algorithm. The effectiveness of the proposed method has been verified by simulations and experimental results.

AC/AC power conversion is widely used to feed AC loads with a variable voltage and/or a variable frequency from a constant voltage constant frequency power grid or to connect critical loads to an unreliable power supply while delivering a very balanced and accurate sinusoidal voltage system of constant amplitude and frequency. The load specifications will clearly impose the requirements for the inverter stage of the power converter, while wider ranges of choices are available for the rectifier. This paper investigates the utilization of a buck-type current source rectifier as the active front-end stage of an AC/AC converter for applications that require an adjustable DC-link voltage as well as elimination of the low-frequency common mode voltage. The proposed solution is to utilize a combination of two or more zero current vectors in the Space Vector Modulation (SVM) technique for Current Sources Rectifiers (CSR).

In this study, the pulse charger and voltage regulator are proposed that can reuse the waste lead acid battery. The first we develop the voltage regulator that can reuse the waste lead battery. And the pulse current is applied to the terminal of the waste lead acid battery. The voltage regulator is available principle of the pulse current which can reduce the sulfate to incipient material such as Pb and PbO2. Therefore the internal resistance of the lead acid battery is decreased, the performance of the lead acid battery is improved and the durability is prolonged. The second we develop the pulse charger using the voltage regulator. The pulse charger uses the switch mode of the forward convert method. The pulse charger maintain the constant voltage in state removing the lead acid battery and when it connected the pulse charger, it is converted the charge mode of the constant current immediately. It continues the rapid charge until the full state of the lead acid battery. After that the pulse charger is converted to the charge mode of constant voltage automatically, and then it continues the normal charge. The experiment results show that the effectiveness of the voltage regulator and pulse charger such as the good performance and the prolonged durability in lead acid battery of the small and large capacity.
The adsorption characteristics of ions were evaluated for the nitrate-selective carbon electrode (NSCE) in accordance with power supply methods. The NSCE was fabricated by coating the surface of a carbon electrode with anion-exchange resin powders with high selectivity for the nitrate ion. Capacitive deionization (CDI) experiments were performed on a mixed solution of nitrate and chloride ion in constant voltage (CV) and constant current (CC) modes. The number of total adsorbed ions in CV mode was 15% greater than that in CC mode. The mole fraction of adsorbed nitrate ion showed the maximum 58%, though the mole fraction was 26% in the mixed solution. This indicates that the fabricated NSCE is highly effective for the selective adsorption of nitrate ions. The mole fraction of adsorbed nitrate was nearly constant value of 55-58% during the adsorption period in CC mode. In the case of CV mode, however, the values increased from the initial 30% to 58% at the end of adsorption. We confirmed that the current supplied to cell is important factor to determine the selective removal of nitrate.

In this study, a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm based on the perturb and observe (P&O) method with variable step size is proposed to improve the dynamic response characteristic of MPPT, using the existing P&O method. The proposed algorithm, which we verified by simulation and experiment, can track the maximum power point (MPP) through duty control and consisted of three operation modes, namely, constant voltage mode, fast mode, and variable step mode. When the insolation is constant, the voltage variation of the operating point at the MPP is reduced through the step size reduction of the duty in the variable step mode. Consequently, the vibration of the operating point is reduced, and the power generation efficiency is increased. When the insolation changes, the duty and the photovoltaic (PV) voltage are kept constant through the constant voltage mode. The operating point then rapidly tracks the new MPP through the fast-mode operation at the end of the insolation change. When the MPP is reached, the operation is changed to the variable step mode to reduce the duty step size and track the MPP. The validity of the proposed algorithm is verified by simulation and experiment of a PV system composed of a PV panel and a boost converter.
In this paper, the pulse charger with mode consersion type is proposed that can reuse the waste lead battery. The pulse charger uses the switch mode of the forward convert method. The pulse charger maintain the constant voltage in state removing the lead battery and when it connected the pulse charger, it is converted the charge mode of the constant current immediately. It continues the rapid charge until the full state of the lead battery. After that the pulse charger is converted to the charge mode of constant voltage automatically, and then it continues the normal charge. The experiment results show that the effectiveness of pulse charger such as the good performance and the prolonged durability in lead battery according to capacity states.
This paper proposes a multimode hybrid control strategy that can achieve zero-voltage switching of primary switches and zero-current switching of secondary rectifier diodes in a wide input voltage range for full-bridge LLC resonant converters. When the input voltage is lower than the rated voltage, the converter operates in Mode 1 through the variable-frequency control strategy. When the input voltage is higher than the rated voltage, the converter operates in Mode 2 through the VF and phase-shift control strategy until the switching frequency reaches the upper limit. Then, the converter operates in Mode 3 through the constant-frequency and phase-shift control strategy. The secondary-side diode current will operate in the discontinuous current mode in Modes 1 and 3, whereas it will operate in the boundary current mode in Mode 2. The current RMS value and conduction loss can be reduced in Mode 2. A detailed theoretical analysis of the operation principle, the voltage gain characteristics, and the realization method is presented in this paper. Finally, a 500 W prototype with 100-200 V input voltage and 40 V output voltage is built to verify the feasibility of the multimode hybrid control strategy.

The conventional battery charger requires two separate voltage and current compensators to achieve constant current and constant-current-charging profile. This compensator configuration leads to an inevitable transient response during the mode change between the constant current and the constant voltage operation. Futhermore, a tedious and complicated design process is required to consider a widely changing battery voltage and the nonlinear electrical properties of Li-ion battery. This study proposes a single integrated voltage-current compensator of the LLC resonant converter for Li-ion battery charger applications to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks. The proposed compensator is designed to provide a smooth and reliable performance during the entire charging process while providing the reduced design efforts and seamless mode transient response. Several experimental results based on a 300 W prototype converter and its theoretical analysis are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed compensator.

As is well known, the power equations of the N-node system have 2N-1 voltage solutions at most. The vlotage solutions are characterized by the introduction of the mode concept in this paper. There are two mode voltages at one node. One is defined as the (+) mode voltage and the other is defined as the (-) mode one. In this paper, we show that the (-) mode voltage responds to the increase of the power condenser almost adversly to the response of the (+) one. We study how to prevent the voltage collapse in the system with the induction motor load. The critical values of the gain and the time constant in case of the continuous power condenser control, and of the unit power condenser and the closing time delay in case of the discontinuous control for the prevention of the voltage collapse, are calculated. The effect of the composition ratio of the impedance load to the induction moter load on the above critical values are also investigated.
