  • This paper defines a diagram showing the characteristics of service connections in SOA, and it designs the connection testing with the diagram. The detail steps of building test requirements in the test design phase are explained, and the steps are applied to two different enterprise cases as examples. The cases are real SOA system of real enterprises. Recently, many enterprises have been trying to reconfigure their system as SOA systems. However, these projects are hard to be applied to their mission-critical real systems, since there is few testing technique understanding SOA characteristics, One of the missing characteristics of SOA in testing is that SOA needs a layering systems between business processes and applications. This paper focuses on the layering system of SOA to solve the testing problem in SOA.

  • Orthotropic steel decks are manufactured by welding thin plates therefore it is inevitable that there are abundant works of welding process. On connection of transverse rib web, crossing point of longitudinal rib, transverse rib and deck plate and cut-out parts of transverse rib are the significant position of stress concentration phenomenon because of out of plane and oil-caning deformation caused by longitudinal rib distortion with shear force and distortion. In order to reduce the stress concentration phenomenon and improving fatigue performance at the crosing point and cut-out, structural analysis was performed considering the existence of scalop at conection and diaphragm which have same plane with transverse rib placed inside of longitudinal rib. Result o f the analysis show that there are the largest efect of stres concentration reduction when diaphragms are installed without scallop at connection, therefore these detail can improve the fatigue performance of orthotropic steel decks.

  • Square tubular columns are commonly used in moment resisting frames, while through-diaphragm connection is the most typical configuration detail to connect the H-shaped beam to the column. However, brittle fracture normally occurs at the complete joint penetration weld between the beam flange and the through-diaphragm due to the stress concentration caused by the geometrical discontinuity. Accordingly, three improved types of through-diaphragm are presented in this paper to provide smooth force flow path comparing to that of conventional connections. Tensile tests were conducted on four specimens and the results were analyzed in terms of failure modes, load-displacement response, yield and ultimate capacity, and initial stiffness. Furthermore, strain distributions on the through-diaphragm, the beam flange plate, and the column face were comprehensively evaluated and discussed. It was found that all the proposed three types of improved through-diaphragm connections were able to reduce the stress concentration in the welds between the beam flange and the through-diaphragm. Furthermore, the stress distribution in connection with longer tapered through-diaphragm was more uniform.

  • Contemporary architectural structures have diverse and complex forms. Such structural variety demands requisite performance from the connections in the steel structure so that the latter could resist a horizontal force, such as an earthquake. The connections are the all-important components that create the discontinuous form and that support stress concentration, determining the stiffness and toughness of the entire steel frame. In this study, a real-scale column-to-beam connection was constructed in the 600MPa-grade high-strength and high-performance steel, to test its behavior. Its material and welding characteristics were examined in this study, and its structural performance was analyzed by conducting seismic-resistance tests on the full-scale, cross-shaped column-to-beam welded connections with non-scallop, ordinary-scallop, and reinforced-scallop details. The weld ability of the high-strength, high-performance steel was also evaluated, and data regarding the seismic design for practical application were provided.

  • Concrete filled tubular structure should be installed diaphragms for moment connection. However internal and through diaphragm should be special welded when connected to column tube. The other hand, that has become increase of stress concentration and extend of construction error. Therefore, In this study the seismic performance of beam to column connections with External Diaphragms and implement cycle loading experiment. we had evaluated seismic performance with mentioned experiment which is concrete filled or not, variable shapes, to be welded or not of diaphragm. Also, formula of strength of external diaphragm was analyzed and looked into adequacy with regard to formula of tension strength.

  • This study is dealt with the experimental seam strength of deep corrugated steel plate which is used as underpasses, storm sewers and other buried applications. The soil-metal structure using deep corrugated plate should be sufficient to ensure safety for compressive loading. The experimental and theoretical results on the seam strength are accumulated enough to take the design guideline, even if the seam strength at the bolt connected lap joint in construction site can be varied depending on the connection detailing and the thickness of plate. In this study, compressive behavior of bolted lap jointed plates using various connection detail such as gasket, slot hole, washer was experimentally analyzed. From the test, failure pattern with an increases in the thickness of specimens was changed from plate bearing to bolt shearing. In case of thicker plates than 6.0mm, the structural performance of lap joint using gasket and slot hole is more effective than it of the plate adopted washer.

  • Brittle feature is one of the fracture behaviors of structure s and has a great influence on the seismic performance of structure materials. The load velocity acts as one of the main causes of brittle fracture, and in particular, in situations such as earthquakes, a high load velocity acts on buildings. However, most of the seismic performance evaluation of the domestic and external steel connections is conducted through static experiments. Therefore, there is a possibility that brittle fracture due to factors such as degradation of material toughness and reduction of maximum deformation rate due to high load velocity during an earthquake was not sufficiently considered in the existing seismic performance evaluation. This study conducts a static test at a low load velocity according to the existing experimental method and a dynamic test at a high load velocity using a shaking table, respectively. It compares and analyzes the fracture shape and structural performance according to the results of each experiment, and finally analyzes the effect of the load velocity size on the seismic performance of the connection.

  • In this study, new moment-resisting precast concrete beam-column joint made up of hybrid steel concrete was developed and tested. This beam-column joint is proposed for use in moderate seismic regions. It has square hollow tubular section in concrete column and connecting plate in precast U-beam. The steel elements in column and beam members were connected using bolt. Furthermore, in order to prevent the premature failure of concrete in hybrid steel-concrete connection, ECC(engineered cementitious composite) was used. An experimental study was carried out investigating the joint behavior subjected to reversed cyclic loading and constant axial compressive load. Two precast beam-column joint specimens and monolithic reinforced concrete joint specimen were tested. The variables for interior joints were cast-in-situ concrete area and transverse reinforcement within the joint. Tests were carried out under displacement controlled reverse cyclic load with a constant axial load. Joint performance is evaluated on the basis of connection strength, stiffness, energy dissipation, and displacement capacity. The test results showed that significant differences in structural behavior between the two types of connection because of different bonding characteristics between steel and concrete; steel and ECC. The proposed joint detail can induce to move the plastic hinge out of the ECC and steel plate. And proposed precast connection showed better performance than the monolithic connection by providing sufficient moment-resisting behavior suitable for applications in moderate seismic regions.

  • In the construction of end-plate connections, the end-plate is welded to the end of the beam in a factory and fastened by bolts in the field. This connection is widely used in advanced countries such as European countries and the U.S. Its design and connection details are prescribed in Eurocode 3, AISC LRFD, and FEMA 350. In Korea, the standards for seismic design in KBC 2005 have been reinforced based on IBC 2000 in the U.S., and it is expected that the connection details in the U.S. will be adopted for the establishment of beam-to-column design standards. In the U.S. thick end-plates are used for the connections to prevent beam rupture. The use of the connections in Korea, however, may lead toover-design. In this experimental study, the design standards for the end-plate connections provided by FEMA-350 were analyzed and structural tests for six specimens were conducted with the variables being the shim plate and the connection shape, to provide the best specifications for connections with plastic deformation in the end-plate for use in Korea.
