  • In this paper, we design the TCP-Light protocol for directly connecting a sensor network with Internet. When we are monitoring the data and controlling of the sensor node, the sensor network must be connected to Internet. But TCP in wireless networks has a number of performance problems which is high bit-error rates and a hardware constraint. Moreover, the end-to-end acknowledgment and retransmission scheme employed by TCP causes expensive retransmissions along every hop of the path between the sender and the receiver. This paper introduces The TCP-Light protocol which increases TCP performance in wireless sensor networks, decreases the number of end-to-end retransmissions and decreases memory consumption.

  • This paper presents the design and implementation of a QoS based IrDA in mobile phones. The IrDA standards have arised from the need to connect various mobile devices together. But currently, we have a difficult to connecting various mobile devices together. The difficult thing is to adjust the minimum turn around time. The minimum turn around time in IrDA deals with the time needed for a receiver circuit to recover following saturation by transmissions from the same device (turn around latency). This parameter corresponds to the required time delay between the last byte of the last frames sent by a station and the point at which it is ready the first byte of a frame from another station. This parameter comes into play when the link is turned around and is negotiated independency for each station. We solve this matter by using the Dynamic Adjustment Algorithm (DAA). The dynamic adjustment algorithm adjusts the minimum turn around time according to the numbers of devices. We apply our direct adjustment algorithm to our QoS based IrDA in mobile phones and show the improved performance of connection with various mobile phones together.

  • This paper presents an adaptive back propagation algorithm that update the learning parameter by the generated error, adaptively and configuration of the range for the initial connecting weight according to the different maximum target value from minimum target value. This algorithm is expected to escaping from the local minimum and make the best environment for the convergence. On the simulation tested this algorithm on three learning pattern. The first was 3-parity problem learning, the second was $7{\times}5$ dot alphabetic font learning and the third was handwritten primitive strokes learning. In three examples, the probability of becoming trapped in local minimum was reduce. Furthermore, in the alphabetic font and handwritten primitive strokes learning, the neural network enhanced to loaming efficient about 27%~57.2% for the standard back propagation(SBP).

  • Power system frequency is the main index of power quality indicating an abnormal state and disturbances of systems. The nominal frequency is deviated by sudden change in generation and load or faults. Power system is used as frequency relay to detection for off-nominal frequency operation and connecting a generator to an electrical system, and V/F relay to detection for an over-excitation condition. Under these circumstances, power system should maintain the nominal frequency. And frequency and frequency deviation should accurately measure and quickly estimate by frequency measurement device. The well-known classical method, frequency estimation technique based on the DFT, could be produce the gain error in accuracy. To meet the requirements for high accuracy, recently Wavelet transforms and analysis are receiving new attention. The Wavelet analysis is possible to calculate the time-frequency analysis which is easy to obtain frequency information of signals. However, it is difficult to apply in real-time implementation because of heavy computation burdens. Nowadays, the computational methods using the Wavelet function and transformation techniques have been searched on these fields. In this paper, we apply the Recursive Discrete Wavelet Transform (RDWT) for the frequency estimation. In order to evaluate performance of the proposed technique, the user-defined arbitrary waveforms are used.

  • Using the R/V converting circuit, hydrogen detecting characteristics of the $WO_3$ films were investigated. The R/V converting circuit is configured with the equivalently constant current driving method connecting an unknown resistor to be measured in the feedback loop of the or-amr rather than using a separated constant current circuit. The response time of the reference voltage for the R/V converting circuit was simulated by the circuit simulator "SABER", and it was found that the response time in the high resistance range become longer and the error amounts to 10%. From the simulation results. replacing the capacitor in the feedback loop of the second stage or-amp with a 0.001uF capacitor, when measuring in the high resistance range, the response characteristics are remarkably improved. The response time was shortened from about 10 seconds to below 1 second. Using this circuit, the effect of $WO_3$ films deposited by sputtering method on hydrogen was measured.

  • With the rapid growth of the Internet, the Internet-based robot has been realized by connecting off-line robot to the Internet. However, because the Internet is often irregular and unreliable, the varying time delay in data transmission is a significant problem for the construction of the Internet-based robot system. Thus, this paper is concerned with the development of an Internet-based robot system, which is insensitive to the Internet time delay. For this purpose, the PPS (Position Prediction Simulator) is suggested and implemented on the system. The PPS consists of two parts : the robot position prediction part and the projective virtual scene part. In the robot position prediction part, the robot position is predicted for more accurate operation of the mobile robot, based on the time at which the user's command reaches the robot system. The projective virtual scene part shows the 3D visual information of a remote site, which is obtained through image processing and position prediction. For the verification of this proposed PPS, the robot was moved to follow the planned path under the various network traffic conditions. The simulation and experimental results showed that the path error of the robot motion could be reduced using the developed PPS.

  • Explosive blasting performance is composed of charging, tamping and connecting performance, which need lots of power and time. Thus, operator's inconvenience and muscle load are increased by their pose. Then it's unavoidable for one to make a human error. As a result, blasting accidents and disasters of explosives may happen. So we need to have systematic study. According to their pose's changing we have OWAS, RULA, REBA, OSHA, ISI, NLE, TVAV, BLUE-X. In this article, OWAS, RULA, REBA have been evaluated. As a result of this research, it is shown that work-related musciloskeletal disorders are related to the second accident's happening.

  • Refined analysis depicting mass transportation and physicochemical reaction and reasonable computing load with acceptable DOFs are the two major challenges of numerical simulation for concrete durability. Mesoscopic numerical simulation for chloride diffusion considering binder, aggregate and interfacial transition zone is unable to be expended to the full structure due to huge number of DOFs. In this paper, a multiscale approach of combining both mesoscopic model including full-graded aggregate and equivalent macroscopic model was introduced. An equivalent conversion of chloride content at the Interfacial Transition Layer (ITL) connecting both models was considered. Feasibility and relative error were discussed by analytical deduction and numerical simulation. Case study clearly showed that larger analysis model in multiscale model expanded the diffusion space of chloride ion and decreased chloride content in front of rebar. Difference for single-scale simulation and multiscale approach was observed. Finally, this paper addressed some worth-noting conclusions about the chloride distribution and rebar corrosion regarding the configuration of rebar placement, rebar diameter, concrete cover and exposure period.

  • For the speed control of motors, the position or speed sensors are necessary to obtain the position information of the rotor. Specially, SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) needs an accurate rotor position data because both the rotor and the stator have a salient pole structure. High functional sensors like resolver or encoder are expensive and have complex connecting lines to the controller so the pure signals are apt to be mixed with noised. In the sight of SRM drives, the high temperature, heavy dust, and the EMI surroundings reduce the reliability of speed and position sensors. Therefore, the speed and position sensorless control algorithms using observer have been accepted widely. In this paper An adaptive sliding observer is described to control the SRM without speed or position sensors. The adaptive sliding observer is set on the basis of variable structure control theory. The sliding surface is constructed by current error terms and this surface guarantees the errors converge to "zero". The stability of observer is affirmed by Lyapunov stability analysis and popov's hyper stability theory.ty theory.
