In this study, tie point observation in aerial triangulation was automated by the image processing methods. The technique includes boundary extraction and We matching processes. The procedures were applied to extract points of Interest and to find their conjugate points in the other images. The image coordinates of the identified points were then used to compute their absolute coordinates. An algorithm was developed in this study for the automation of observation in aerial triangulation, which is a manual process of selecting a tie point and recording the image coordinate of the selected point. The developed algorithm automates this process through the application of a mathematical operator to extract points of interest from an arbitrary image. The root m square error of image coordinates of the developed algorithm is $6.8{\mu}m$, which is close to that of the present analytical method. In a manual environment, the accuracy of the result of a photogrammetric process is heavily dependant on the level of skill and experience of the human operator. No such problem exists in an automated system. Also, as a result of the automated system, the time spent in the observation process could be reduced by a factor of 61.2%, thereby reducing the overall cost.

To use image data obtained from different sensors and different techniques, the preprocessing step that registers them in a common coordinate system is needed. For this purpose, we developed the methodology to register middle- and low-resolution satellite images automatically. Firstly, candidate matching points were extracted using the Harris and Harris-affine algorithm. Secondly, we used the correlation coefficient, normalized correlation coefficient and SIFT algorithm to detect conjugate matching points from candidates. Then, to test the feasibility of approaches, we applied the developed methodology to various kinds of satellite images and compared results. The results clearly demonstrate that the methology using the SIFT is appropriate to register these multi-resolution satellite images automatically, compared with the classical cross-correlation.

In the method of 3D modeling, stereo matching method which obtains three dimensional depth information from the two images is taken from the different view points. In general, it is very essential work for the 3D modeling from 2D stereo images to estimate the exact disparity through fading the conjugate pair of pixel from the left and right image. In this paper to solve the problems of the stereo image disparity estimation, we introduce a novel approach method to improve the exactness and efficiency of the disparity. In the first place, we perform a wavelet transformation of the stereo images and set the reference points in the image by the feature-based matching method. This reference points have very high probability over 95 %. In the base of these reference points we can decide the size of the variable block searching windows for estimating dense disparity of area based method and perform the ordering constraint to prevent mismatching. By doing this, we could estimate the disparity in a short time and solve the occlusion caused by applying the fried-sized windows and probable error caused by repeating patterns.

In a passive UHF RFID system, the impedance matching between tag antenna and chip as well as the protocol parameter settings in a reader plays important role in determination of the maximum read-range. Almost no paper, however, has dealt with the above issues in relation with the maximum read range. In this paper, two known methods (of using the value from data sheets and proprietary RFID tester) and our proposing method in chip impedance evaluation are compared in terms of maximum read range. The read range of tags whose antenna impedance is conjugate matched with the chip impedance obtained from the proposed method is improved maximum 73 % more than that of tags from the other methods.

This article proposes an ultrahigh frequency band radio frequency identification (RFID) tag antenna for drug runout management that can be used in hospitals. The RFID tag antenna is designed to function as a sensor that alerts drug runout when a drug inside a drip chamber is completely consumed but does not work when a drug remains inside a drop chamber. A previously proposed 915 MHz dipole antenna, is too large to be attached to the drip chamber of a feeding bag. Moreover, the length of the dipole (L) should be increased for conjugate matching with an RFID chip. Therefore, the dipole antenna is downsized so that it can be attached to the drip chamber through a fine meander line structure coupling with a corrugate meander line. A transparent cover is added to enhance the grip force between the designed antenna and the drip chamber and to enable detachment. The dimensions of the completed antenna structure attachable to a drip chamber are 32.59 mm (height) and 13.5 mm (width). The gain reduction due to the decreased antenna length is enhanced. The fabricated antenna shows an average omni-directional read range of 10.65 m on a horizontal plane and has the function of sensing the presence of a drug.

Investigation is given to the detailed procedure of a computer assisted automatic technique for ortho-image generation from digital stereo image data of close-range photographs scanned by the CCD camera scanner. After rectification of geometric scanning errors, the bundle adjustment technique was used to determine the exterior orientation parameters of terrestrial camera. An automatic correlation matching technique was applied to search for the conjugate pixels in digital stereo pairs. And the 3-dimensional coordinates of the corresponding pixels were calculated by the space intersection method. For the generation of ortho-image from the calculated coordinates and right image data values, inverse-weighted-distance average method was used. And the accuracy of the resulting ortho-image was checked by comparing its image coordinates with there corresponding ground coordinates for the check points.

Recently, as the demand for 3D geospatial information increases, the importance of rapid and accurate data construction has increased. Although many studies have been conducted to register UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) imagery based on LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) data, which is capable of precise 3D data construction, studies using LiDAR data embedded in MMS (Mobile Mapping System) are insufficient. Therefore, this study compared and analyzed 9 matching algorithms based on feature points for registering reflectance image converted from LiDAR point cloud intensity data acquired from MMS with image data from UAV. Our results indicated that when the SIFT (Scale Invariant Feature Transform) algorithm was applied, it was able to stable secure a high matching accuracy, and it was confirmed that sufficient conjugate points were extracted even in various road environments. For the registration accuracy analysis, the SIFT algorithm was able to secure the accuracy at about 10 pixels except the case when the overlapping area is low and the same pattern is repeated. This is a reasonable result considering that the distortion of the UAV altitude is included at the time of UAV image capturing. Therefore, the results of this study are expected to be used as a basic research for 3D registration of LiDAR point cloud intensity data and UAV imagery.

In this paper, we propose a RFID tag antenna with low performance degradation due to nearby dielectric materials. The proposed antenna is designed to be appropriate for ink printing fabrication. The antenna is designed to operate in UHF band of $860{\sim}960$ MHz. The antenna uses a T-matching network in the middle of the main body and two parasitic patches in vicinity for complex conjugate matching with a commercial tag chip. In addition, the two parasitic patches induce currents at different dielectric constants of nearby dielectric materials. This can minimize the performance degradation due to nearby dielectric materials. The measured results show the half power matching bandwidth from 844 MHT to 1,268 MHz. It exhibits the reading distance of about 3.5 m in free space when the tag antenna is used with the commercial reader antenna (transmitting power of 20 dBm and the reader antenna gain of 6 dBi). When the tag is attached on dielectric materials of wood and FR4, the resulting reading distances are 2.61 m and 2.51 m, respectively.

In a number of predictive video compression standards, the motion is compensated by the block-based motion compensation (BMC). The effective motion field used for the prediction by the BMC is obviously discontinuous since one motion vector is used for the entire macro-block. The usage of discontinuous motion field for the prediction causes the blocky artifacts and one obvious approach for eliminating such artifacts is to use a smoothed motion field. The optimal procedure will depend on the type of motion within the video. In this paper, several procedures for the motion vectors are considered. For any interpolation or approaches, however, the motion vectors as provided by the block matching algorithm(BMA) are no longer optimal. The optimum motion vectors(still one per macro-block) must minimize the of the displaced frame difference (DFD). We propose a unified algorithm that computes the optimum motion vectors to minimize the of the DFD using a conjugate gradient search. The proposed algorithm has been implemented and tested for the affine transformation based motion compensation (ATMC), the bilinear transformation based motion compensation (BTMC) and our own filtered motion compensation(FMC). The performance of these different approaches will be compared against the BMC.
