가변곡률을 가진 나선형 블레이드 제작을 위한 원추형 롤 성형 공정설계 (Process Design of Conical Roll-Shaping for Fabrication of Variable Curvature Spiral Blade)

  • A conical roll-shaping process was proposed for fabrication of a metallic spiral blade applied to a small-scale wind turbine system. A spiral blade has continuously different curvatures, with a range of 100 to 350 mm radius. To fabricate this complex shape, we developed a conical roll-shaping process having two main conical rollers for feeding a blank sheet, and two cylindrical side rollers for control of local bending. For clear understanding of the process parameters, numerical analyses were conducted using a commercial code, Pam-Stamp. This study optimized the effects of process parameters, such as gap and angle between the main rollers and side rollers, and also the movement of side rollers. In order to increase the forming efficiency, a central rotation point was also calculated by the analytical approach. This developed rolling process can thus be utilized in a sheet metal forming process for obtaining spirally curved sheet metal shapes.

선형절삭시험에 의한 코니컬커터의 삽입재 크기에 따른 절삭성능 평가 (Performance estimation depending on the insert size of conical picks by linear cutting test)

  • 본 연구는 로드헤더 커팅헤드에 사용되는 코니컬커터의 삽입재 크기에 따른 커터작용력의 변화를 살펴보기 위하여 절삭간격과 절삭깊이, 그리고 사각을 변화시키면서 연직력, 절삭력, 구동력을 측정하였고 그 측정결과의 평균값을 사용하여 분석을 실시하였다. 절삭간격이 12~27 mm인 조건에서 절삭깊이에 따라 평균 커터작용력이 일정한 범위에서 나타났다. 사각이 $0^{\circ}$인 경우에서는 일반적으로 알려진 최적 S/d비 1~5사이인 4~4.5 조건에서 비에너지가 최소로 나타났으며, 사각이 $6^{\circ}$인 경우에서는 최적 S/d비가 좀 더 작은 1~3에서 나타났다. 단순히 시험결과에 의한 비교에서는 슬림 코니컬커터가 헤비 코니컬커터에 비해 절삭효율이 좋게 나타났지만, 대상지반의 강도가 높을 경우에 대해 커터의 소모량과 손상을 고려한다면 헤비 코니컬커터의 사용이 효과적일 것이다.

  • The torsional forward extrusion is the process that is executed by punch travel and die rotation. The advantages of having the die rotation on this process are that forming load can be reduced and optimal die angle can be increased. This provides a possibility to extrude cold-worded material where a large extrusion force and die angle are required. Also, this process can improve the material properties owing to the high deformation and uniform strain distribution. The forming load and optimal die angle of this process are determined by the upper bound analysis using stream function and the optimization technique. To verify the theoretical result, we have carried out experiments and FE simulations using DEFORM3D.

  • Axial crushing behavior of cylindrical shell Is utilized in the braking of the high-velocity impacting object. In this paper, truncated cone shape brake device is introduced. That is, thickness of the shell is increased gradually from the impacting end to the other end. A detailed experimental investigation on the quasi-static axial crushing behavior of truncated cone type brake devices has been performed. Specimens of various shape were tested to check the influence of design parameters such as length, radius, mean thickness, and conical angle of cylinder. Influence of the material properties were also investigated by adopting aluminum, low carbon steel, and stainless steel as constructing materials. By analyzing deformation procedures of the specimens, it is seen that conical angle influence the deformation mode and the sequence of the wrinkles generation. Braking distance and mean braking force of each specimen were predicted based on the crushing load measured from the tests.

금형 및 공정변수에 따른 층상복합재료의 압출성형 특성에 관한 연구 (A study on the extrusion forming characteristics of construction materials with die and process parameters)

  • This paper presents the plastic inhomogeneous deformation behavior of bimetal composite rods during the axisymmetric and steady-state extrusion process through a conical die. The rigid-plastic FE model considering frictional contact problem was used to analyze the co-extrusion process with material combinations of Cu/Al. Different cases of initial geometry shape for composite material were simulated under different conditions of co-extrusion process, which includes the interference and frictional conditions. The main design parameters influencing on deformation pattern are diameter ratio of the composite components and semi-die angle. Efforts are focused on the deformation patterns, velocity gradient, predicted forming load and the end distance through the various simulations. Simulation results indicate that there is an obvious difference of forming pattern with various diameter ratio and semi-die angle. The analysis in this paper is concentrated on the evaluation of the design parameters on the deformation pattern of composite rod.

Bearing capacity factor Nγ for a rough conical footing

  • The bearing capacity factor $N_{\gamma}$ is computed for a rough conical footing placed over horizontal ground surface. The axisymmetric lower bound limit analysis formulation, in combination with finite elements and linear programming, proposed recently by the authors is used in this study. The variation of $N_{\gamma}$ with cone apex angle (${\beta}$), in a range of $30^{\circ}-180^{\circ}$, is obtained for different values of ${\phi}$; where ${\phi}$ is soil friction angle. For ${\phi}<30^{\circ}$, the magnitude of $N_{\gamma}$ is found to decrease continuously with an increase in ${\beta}$ from $30^{\circ}$ to $180^{\circ}$. On the other hand, for ${\phi}>30^{\circ}$, the minimum magnitude of $N_{\gamma}$ is found to occur generally between ${\beta}=120^{\circ}$ and ${\beta}=150^{\circ}$. In all the cases, it is noticed that the magnitude of $N_{\gamma}$ becomes maximum for ${\beta}=30^{\circ}$. For a given diameter of the cone, the area of the plastic zone reduces generally with an increase in ${\beta}$. The obtained values of $N_{\gamma}$ are found to compare quite well with those available in literature.

  • 본 연구에서는 원형 파이프에 원추형 디퓨져가 연결된 덕트 내의 유동장에 대 하여 Launder-Sharma의 저 레이놀즈수 k-.epsilon. 난류모델을 이용하여 수치해석을 수행하였 으며, 수치해석 방법으로는 타원형 방법을 사용하였으며, 앞으로 일반적인 단면의 곡 관이나 스크롤 내부 유동 등의 연구 수행을 감안하여 지배방정식을 일반 비직교 좌표 계로 변환하여 계산을 수행하였다.

  • This paper describes experimental investigations in the direct extrusion of copper clad aluminum rods through conical dies. Composite materials consist of two or more different material layers. Copper clad aluminum composite materials are being used fur economic and structural purposes and the development of an efficient production method of copper clad aluminum composite material rods by extrusion is very important, It is necessary to know the conditions in which successful uniform extrusion ,and sound cladding may be carried out without any defects in the direct extrusion. There are several variables that have an influence on determining a sound clad extrusion. In order to investigate the influence of these parameters on the hot direct extrudability of the copper clad aluminum composite material rods, the experimental study have been performed with various extrusion temperatures, extrusion ratios and semi-cone angles of die. Subsequently, the microscopic inspection of interface bonding is carried out for extruded products. By measuring hardness, along extrusion way of products, a variation of hardness has been discussed. Proportional flow state has been considered by measuring radius ratio of Cu sleeve and Al core before and after extrusion.

유전 알고리즘-BP신경망을 이용한 Al3004 판재 점진성형 공정변수에 대한 최적화 연구 (Optimization of Process Parameters of Incremental Sheet Forming of Al3004 Sheet Using Genetic Algorithm-BP Neural Network)

  • 점진판재성형은 금형을 제작하지 않고 판재를 가공하는 방법으로서 빠른 시제품 제작과 소량 생산에 적합한 성형법이다. 이러한 점진판재성형의 공정 변수로 공구 직경, 매 스탭당 Z-방향 깊이, 공구 이송 속도, 공구 회전 속도 등은 성형품의 품질에 크게 영향을 미친다. 본 연구에서는 두께가 1.0mm인 Al3004판재를 사용하여 원뿔절두체(VWACF: Varying Wall Angle Conical Frustum) 모델의 점진성형을 실시하였으며, 각각의 변수들의 조합에서 성형성을 판단하였다. BP신경망 (BPNN: Back Propagation Neural Network)를 기반으로 Minitab 소프트웨어를 사용하여 성형 각도를 예측하는 2 차 수학적 모델을 구축하였다. 또한 이 모델을 유전 알고리즘의 목적함수로 사용하였으며 최대 성형 각도로 얻기 위한 최적의 변수 조합을 찾아내었다. 공구 직경은 6mm, 회전 속도는 180rpm, Z-방향 피치는 0.401mm, 이송 속도는 772.4mm/min일 경우 가장 큰 성형 각도인 87.071°를 갖는 컵을 성형할 수 있었다.

유선 함수를 이용한 비틀림 전방압출 공정에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Torsional Forward Extrusion Using the Stream Function.)

  • The upper bound analysis by stream function is used to study the torsional forward extrusion. The torsional forward extrusion process not only reduces forming load but also increase optimal die angle. Optimal die angle is determined by the optimization technique. The advantages of this process are that the low capacity of pressing machine can be used and the process with a large die angle can be applied. To verify the theoretical result, we have carried out experiments using model material (plasticine) and FE simulations using DEFORM3D.
