Natural product drugs, or botanical drugs, are drugs composed of natural substances which have constituents with healthenhancing or medicinal activities. In Korea, government-led projects brought attention to botanical drugs invigorating domestic botanical drug industry. Foreign markets, as well, are growing bigger as the significance of botanical drugs stood out. To follow along with the tendency, Korea puts a lot of effort on developing botanical drugs suitable for global market. However, standards for approving drug sales vary by countries. And also, thorough standardization, certification, clinical studies and data of these will be required as well as data confirming safety and effectiveness. Meanwhile, as an international exchange in botanical drug market continues, the importance of plant resources was emphasized. Thus countries' ownership of domestic natural resources became vital. Not only establishing a systematic method to secure domestic plant resources, but also cooperation with other countries on sharing natural resources is essential to procure natural resources effectively. Korea started to show visible results with botanical drugs, and asthma/COPD treatment made out of speedwell is one example. Sufficient investment and government's active support for basic infrastructure for global botanical drugs will bring Korea to much higher level of botanical drug development.
Beneficiary must present all documents stipulated in the Credit. If the documents conform in all respects with the terms and conditions of the Credit, beneficiary has a right to payment from an issuing or confirming bank. And banks must examine all documents presented by beneficiary for taking up the documents. If the documents appear on their face not to be in compliance with the terms and conditions of the Credit, banks may refuse to take up the documents. But standard for compliant documents with the terms and conditions of the Credit in the UCP or Section 5 of UCC is unclear. Because UCP Article 13(a) provides merely that banks must examine all documents stipulated in the Credit ${\cdots}$ to ascertain whether or not they appear, on their face, to be compliance with the terms and conditions of the Credit. ${\cdots}$ Documents which appear on their face to be inconsistent with one another will be considered as not appearing on their face to be in compliance with the terms and conditions of the Credit. Also UCC Section 5-108(a) provides merely that. ${\cdots}$ an issuer shall honor a presentation that, ${\cdots}$ appears on its face strictly to comply with the terms and conditions of the letter of credit. All problems are not resolve with easy by these regulations. Accordingly, I examined requirements for compliant documents with the terms and conditions of the Credit on the basis of the UCP and cases. To analyse this, I divided into three requirements ; (1) Completeness, (2) Regularity, (3) Linkage.

Glyoxalase I catalyzes the conversion of methylglyoxal to S-D-lactoylglutathione in the presence of glutathione. The structural gene of glyoxalase I (GLO1) was cloned from an osmotolerant yeast, Candida magnoliae, which produces a functional sweetener, erythritol, from sucrose. DNA sequence analysis revealed that the uninterrupted open reading frame (ORF) of C. magnoliae GLO1 (CmGLO1) spans 945 bp, corresponding to 315 amino acid residues, and shares 45.2% amino acid sequence identity to Saccharomyces cerevisiae Glo1. The cloned ORF in a multicopy constitutive expression plasmid complemented the glo1 mutation of S. cerevisiae, confirming that it encodes Glo1 in C. magnoliae. The responses of CmGLO1 to environmental stresses were different from those of S. cerevisiae, which only responds to osmotic stress. An enzyme activity assay and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction revealed that the expression of CmGLO1 is induced by stress inducers such as methylglyoxal, $H_2O_2$, KCl, and NaCl. The GenBank Accession No. for CmGLO1 is HM000001.

VIPER a new tool for the VIsual PERception of sound quality and for sound design will be presented. Requirement for the visualization of sound quality is a signal analysis modeling the information processing of the ear. The first step of the signal processing implemented in VIPER, calculates an auditory spectrogram by a filter bank adapted to the time- and frequency resolution of the human ear. The second step removes redundant information by extracting time- and frequency contours from the auditory spectrogram in analogy to contours of the visual system. In a third step contours and/or auditory spectrogram can be resynthesised confirming that only aurally relevant information were extracted. The visualization of the contours in VIPER allows intuitively to grasp the important components of a signal. Contributions of parts of a signal to the overall quality can be easily auralized by editing and resynthesising the contours or the underlying auditory spectrogram. Resynthesis of time contours alone allows e.g. to auralize impulsive components separately from the tonal components. Further processing of the contours determines tonal parts in form of tracks. Audible differences between two versions of a sound can be visually inspected in VIPER through the help of auditory distance spectrograms. Applications are shown for the sound design of several interior noises of cars.

The paper revisits the author's previous paper to examine short-run and long-run dynamic relationships between macroeconomic variables and stock prices in Korea. The data is updated to the period for which monthly data are available from January 1986 to June 2018 (390 observations) retrieved from the Bank of Korea. The results of Johansen cointegration test indicate that at least one cointegrating equation exists, confirming there is a long-run equilibrium relationship between macroeconomic variables and stock prices in Korea. The results of vector error correction estimates confirm that: 1) the coefficient of the error correction term is significant with a negative sign, which is, a long-run dynamic relationship is observed between macroeconomic variables and stock prices; 2) for short-run dynamics, the nominal exchange rate of the Korean won per the US dollar is positively related to stock prices, while interest rates are negatively related to stock prices in the short-run; 3) the coefficient of global financial crises is insignificant, that is, the changes of stock prices are determined largely by their own dynamics in the model. The results suggest only that the global financial crises neither cause instability in the cointegrating vector, nor affect significant changes in the endogenous variables in the model.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of economic uncertainty on MNC investment in Malaysia from 2009 to 2019 by employing an ARDL method. The results revealed that Economic Policy Uncertainty (EPU) has a positive association with the capital expenditures of Nestle, British American Tobacco, and Public Bank in the long run. In a similar period, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is positively significant with the capital expenditures of British America Tobacco and Heineken. However, inflation is negatively related to the capital expenditures of British America Tobacco and Heineken. Additionally, the exchange rate has a significant and negative relationship with the capital expenditures of Nestle and Petronas, while the ECT value is negative and significant in the short run, hence confirming that co-integration exists. In view of this, it is imperative that the government plays a prerogative role to support MNC operations, as MNCs foster the developing countries' economic development through facilitating full employment. This study sets to enhance the personal knowledge of those with a strong interest in the Malaysian financial market. As long as MNCs believe that the Malaysian market has the potential to grow, they will continue to invest for the benefit of the country.

The study assessed the utility of mitochondrial DNA for identifying a deceased rorqual discovered off the western coast of India. Both the COI and Cytb genes exhibited remarkable 99-100% similarity with the GenBank sequence of Balaenoptera musculus through a global BLAST search, confirming their affiliation with this species. Inter-species genetic distances for COI and Cytb genes ranged from 6.75% to 9.80% and 7.37% to 10.96% respectively, compared with other Balaenopteridae species. The Bayesian phylogenies constructed based on both COI and Cytb genes demonstrated clear and separate clustering for all Balaenopteridae species, further reaffirming their distinctiveness, while concurrently revealing a cohesive clustering pattern of the generated sequences within the B. musculus clade. Beyond species confirmation, this study provides valuable insights into the presence of live and deceased B. musculus individuals within Indian marine ecosystems. This information holds significant potential for guiding conservation efforts aimed at safeguarding Important Marine Mammal Areas (IMMAs) in India over the long term.
Many problems and complaints have been caused by applying the UCP to the standby credit. To solve the problem, International Standby Practices were established. ISP and UCP are similar in that both of them generally regulate the transaction of credit. However, when the ISP is compared with the UCP, the following features are found : 1. In the UCP, when Force Majeure such as acts of God or strikes cause temporary work stoppage, the expiration date cannot be extended. In the ISP, the expiration date can be extended to 30 days afte the place for presentation re-opens for business in the same situation. 2. The UCP does not specify who the issuer of a document must be because there can be many issuers of documents. In the ISP, it is specified that all required documents are to be issued by the beneficiary. 3. In the UCP, compliance between presented documents is required. In the ISP, a discrepancy between presented documents is allowed. 4. In the UCP, if drawings and/or shipments are required by a credit to be made in instalments, and a required drawing/instalment is not made, the credit ceases to be available for any subsequent instalment. In ISP, there is no loss of effect and no influence on the right of beneficiaries, even in the same situation. 5. In the UCP, multiple transfers are not permitted, but partial transfers are. ISP states just the opposite. Multiple transfers are permitted, but partial transfers are not. 6 The UCP obligate each bank (issuer, confirming and nominated bank) to complete their review within a 'reasonable time' but not more than seven banking days. In the ISP, less than three business days is deemed to be not unreasonable and more than seven days is deemed to be unreasonable. 7. ISP, unlike UCP, recognizes that issuers and confirmers may spread their risk through syndication and participation of standby credits. However, the thing to remember is that the ISP should be reviewed carefully before application. If necessary, a partial addition or modifications can be made. Usually, the best advantage of the ISP is given to the issuers. A positive use of the ISP can be made by issuers but, applicants should consider using the UCP to the their rights and duties.
In May of 2004 through 2007, Leptosphaerulina leaf blight caused by Leptosphaerulina trifolii occurred on Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis) at golf courses in Gangwon Province, Korea. Symptoms on the turfgrass caused by L. trifolii were leaf blights, dying from the leaf tip downwards to the crown, which appeared patches in the field because of local pockets of severely infected (blighted) grass. Perithecia were produced on old or weak leaves, including club-shaped asci, each of which contained 8 pale brown muriform ascospores with cross and longitudinal septa. Ascospores of the fungus isolated from the diseased leaf tissue and cultured on potato-dextrose agar (PDA) were muriform multicellular (composed of 3-6 cells) and $23.4-40.5{\times}7.8-15.6{\mu}m$ in size with 3-4 transverse and 0-3 longitudinal septa, which were morphologically identical to L. trifolii reported previously. DNA sequences of ribosomal RNA gene (internal transcribed spacer) of the fungus were homologous with similarity of 99% to those of L. trifolii isolates in GenBank database, confirming the identity of the causal agent of the disease. Pathogenicity of the fungus was also confirmed on the creeping bentgrass by Koch's postulates. This is first report of Leptosphaerulina leaf blight on turfgrass caused by L. trifolii in Korea.

The procpb gene encoding human procarboxypeptidase B (proCPB, GeneBank access code AJ224866) was cloned and its Pichia expression plasmid, $pPIC9{\alpha}$/hproCPB (9.2 kb), was constructed, in which procpb was under the control of the AOXl promoter and connected to the downstream of the mating factor ${\alpha}$-1 ($MF{\alpha}1$) signal sequence. The plasmid was linearized by digestion with Sacl, and integrated into the genome of P. pastoris strain GS115. By culturing of Pichia transformant on methanol medium, the human proCPB was successfully expressed and secreted into the culture supernatant. Moreover, Western blot analysis of the extracellular proteins showed proCPB bands clearly at a molecular mass of 45 kDa, confirming the expression of proCPB with its right size. The CPB activity reached about 3.5 U/ml and 12.7 U/ml in the flask and fermentor batch cultures of Pichia transformant, respectively. No CPB enzyme activity was found in the intracellular fraction. When the fed-batch cultivation was performed with methanol and glycerol mixture as a feeding medium, the extracellular CPB activity was increased to 42.0 U/ml, which corresponds to a 3.3-fold higher level of CPB activity than that of batch culture. The $K_m$ and $k_{cat}$ values of recombinant human CPB enzyme for hippuryl-$_L$-Arg as a substrate were estimated to be 0.16 mM and $11.93\;sec^{-1}$, respectively.
