Fault current can be discharged from power transmission tower due to lightning or inadvertent contact of crane, etc. Pipelines in proximity to either the source of the ground fault or the substation grounding grid may provide convenient conductive path for the fault current to travel. Inappropriate measures to the neighboring pipelines against the fault current may cause severe damages to the pipes such as coating breakdown, arc burn, puncture, loss in wall thickness, or brittle heat-affected zone. Like inductive and conductive AC coupling, steadily induced fault current right after the coating breakdown can lead to corrosion of the pipeline. In this work, some protection guidelines against fault currents used in the field have been validated through the simulation and analytical method.

Objectives: This study was conducted to determine the differences in EC concentrations according to the type of sampler by measuring and analyzing EC. Methods: Elemental carbon was measured in diesel engine vehicles and at the roadside. Using NIOSH method 5040, a cassette was coupled to 37 mm and 27 mm quartz filters and measurements were performed 21 times. There were 14 types of measurement methods, and polystyrene, polypropylene, and metal samplers were evenly placed inside the movable chamber. Results: The results measured using the 37 mm conductive cassette (closed/open) and the IOM sampler made of conductive materials showed a higher ratio than the other results. When the 37 mm conductive cassette was measured with the lid open, it showed a statistically significantly higher ratio than with other measurement methods (p<0.05). Conclusions: Checking the EC concentration a total of 21 times at each ratio based on the concentration of the 3-stage polystyrene cassette, it was statistically significantly higher when the 37 mm conductive cassette was open. This same cassette also showed a slightly higher EC concentration when closed. It was ascertained that some DEE was collected on the cassette wall surface due to the electrical conductivity of the polystyrene cassette, resulting in sample loss. Since EC is composed of fine particles, it is thought that electrical conductivity may affect its concentration.

For stable combustion and safety of a structure of the propulsion system, a cooling system to the liquid rocket engine should be incorporated. In this study, Eulerian-Lagrangian scheme for two phase combustion, nongray radiation and soot formation effect, and film-wall interaction have been introduced to study the effect of film cooling. After briefly introducing the governing equation, combustion characteristics with change of wall temperature has been investigated by varying such parameters as fuel mass fraction for film cooling, diameter of the fuel droplet, overall mixture fraction of oxygen to fuel. Also, radiative heat flux is compared with the conductive one at the combustor wall.
From measured thermal conductivity and modeling by simulation, this study suggests that U-factors are highly related to materials used between steel and polymer. The objective and prospective point of this study are to relate the relationship between the U-factor and the thermal conductivity of the materials used. For the characterization, EDX, SEM, a thermal conductive meter, and computer simulation utility are used to analyze the elemental, surface structural properties, and U-factor with a simulation of the used material between steel and polymer. This study set out to divide the curtain wall system that makes up the envelope into an aluminum frame section and entrance frame section and interpret their thermal performance with U-factors. Based on the U-factor thermal analysis results, the target curtain wall system is divided into fix and vent types. The glass is 24 mm double glazing (6 mm common glass +12 mm Argon +6 mm Low E). The same U-factor of 1.45 W/m2·K is applied. The interpretation results show that the U-factor and total U-value of the aluminum frame section are 1.449 and 2.343 W/m2·K, respectively. Meanwhile, those of the entrance frame section are 1.449 and 2.
A single-wall carbon nanotube (SWNT) transparent conductive film (TCF) was fabricated using a simple inkjet printing method. The TCF could be selectively patterned by controlling the dot size to diameters as small as 34${\mu}m$. In thisrepeatable and scalable process, we achieved 71% film transmittance and a resistance of 900 ohm/sq sheet with an excellent uniformity, about $\pm$5% deviation overall. Inkjet printing of SWNT is substrate friendly and the TCF is printed on a flexible substrate. This method of fabrication using direct printing permits mass production of TCF in a large area process, reducing processing steps and yielding low-cost TCF fabrications on a designated area using simple printing.

This study were conduced experimentally to analyze the heat-generating performance, flexural strength, and microstructure of conductive mortar mixed with micro steel fiber and multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWCNT). In the conductive mortar heat-generating performance and flexural strength tests, the mixing concentration of MWCNT was selected as 0.0wt%, 0.5wt%, and 1.0wt% relative to the weight of cement, and micro steel fibers were mixed at 2.0vol% relative to the volume. The performance experiments were conducted with various applied voltages (DC 10V, 30V, 60V) and different electrode spacings (40 mm, 120 mm) as parameters, and the flexural strength was measured at the curing age of 28 days and compared and analyzed with the normal mortar. Furthermore, the surface shape and microstructure of conductive mortar were analyzed using a field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM). The results showed that the heat-generating performance improved as the mixing concentration of MWCNT and the applied voltage increased, and it further improved as the electrode spacing became narrower. However, even if the mixing concentration of MWCNT was added up to 1.0 wt%, the heat-generating performance was not significantly improved. As a result of the flexural strength test, the average flexural strength of all specimens except the PM specimen and the MWCNT mixed specimens was 4.5 MPa or more, showing high flexural strength due to the incorporation of micro steel fibers. Through FE-SEM image analysis, Through FE-SEM image analysis, it was confirmed that a conductive network was formed between micro steel fibers and MWCNT particles in the cement matrix.

In this paper, we have numerically investigated two-dimensional dielectrophoretic (DEP) motions of a single particle suspended freely in a viscous fluid, interacting with a nearby nonconducting planar wall, under an externally applied uniform direct-current electric field. Particularly, we solve the Maxwell equation with a large sharp jump in the electric conductivity at the particle-fluid interface and then integrate the Maxwell stress tensor to compute the DEP force on the particle. Results show that, under an electric field parallel to the wall, one particle is always repelled to move far away from the wall and the motion depends strongly on the particle-wall spacing and the particle conductivity. The motion strength vanishes when the particle is as conductive as the fluid and increases as the conductivity deviates further from that of the fluid.
A composite electrode made of iron oxide nanoparticles/multi-wall carbon nanotube (iNPs/M) delivers high specific capacity and cycle durability. At a rate of $200mAg^{-1}$, the electrode shows a high discharge capacity of ${\sim}664mAhg^{-1}$ after 100 cycles, which is ~ 70% of the theoretical capacity of $Fe_3O_4$. Carbon black, carbon nanotube, and graphene as anode materials have been explored to improve the electrical conductivity and cycle stability in Li ion batteries. Herein, iron oxide nanoparticles on acid treated MWCNTs as a conductive platform are combined to enhance the drawbacks of $Fe_3O_4$ such as low electrical conductivity and volume expansion during the alloying/dealloying process. Enhanced performance was achieved due to a synergistic effect between electrically 3D networks of conductive MWCNTs and the high Li ion storage ability of $Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticles (iNPs).
In this study, conductive EVA foams including multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT), glass beads were prepared. The electrical conductivity and physical properties of the foams were confirmed with varying amount of MWCNT, mixing time, and amount of glass beads. The electrical conductivity increased with the amount of MWCNT. Dispersity of MWCNT in EVA foams were improved with glass beads. It can be suggested that conductive EVA foams can be successfully prepared with improved dispersity of MWCNT in ethylene-vinyl acetate by using glass beads.
Airborne electromagnetics (AEM) is a useful tool for investigating volcanic structures because it can survey large and inaccessible areas. Disadvantages include lower accuracy and limited depth of investigation. The Grounded Electrical Source Airborne Transient Electromagnetic(GREATEM)survey system was developed to increase the depth of investigation possible using AEM. The method was tested in a survey at Mount Bandai in north-eastern Japan. Mount Bandai is an andesitic stratovolcano that rises 1819m above sea level. An eruption in July 1888 left a hoof-shaped collapsed wall in its northern crater and avalanche debris at its base. Previous surveys of Mount Bandai allow for comparisons of data on its structure and collapse mechanism as obtained by GREATEM and other geophysical methods. The results show resistive structures in recent volcanic cones and conductive structures in the collapsed-crater area. Conductive areas around the collapsed wall correspond to an alteration zone resulting from hydrothermal activity, supporting the contention that a major cause of the collapse associated with the 1888 eruption was hydrothermal alteration that structurally weakened the interior of the volcanic edifice.
