The purpose of this study was to compare the shear bond strengths to ground dentin surfaces of four dentinal bonding agents in 193 teeth. Various dentin surfaces treated with four dentin bonding agents were attached with two restorative composite resins. The effectiveness of the bonding were tested by the monitoring the shear bond strength. The shear bond strengths were measured after 2 hours and 24 hours after surface conditioning with four dentin bonding agents. Effects of EDTA, the additive illumination, and sealer treatments without primer on bond strength to dentin surfaces were assessed. In addition the effects of the thickness of specimens ranging from 0.65 mm to 1.95 mm and the ratio of catalyst and base paste on the bond strength of chemical cure composite resin were estimated. The shear bond strength was determined by testing specimens in the Instron universal testing machine (Model No. 1122) at a crosshead speed of 1.0 mm/min. Following condusions were drawn: 1. The highest mean shear bond strengths of chemical cure composite resin to dentin conditioning with dentin bonding agents aged 2 hours were obtained, and then that was decreased with time followed by EDTA treatment. 2. In light cure composite resin, the shear bond strength was increased following dentin conditioning with bonding agents with time, irradiation time and EDTA treatment except in SB group. 3. The thicker the composite resin specimen was, the less the shear bond strength in chemical cure composite resin was. 4. In light cure composite resin, there was a little change in shear bond strength following dentin conditioning with bonding agents. 5. In chemical cure composite resin, the shear bond strength was the highest in the ratio of 1/1 of catalyst and base part. 6. Without a dentin primer, shear bond strength to dentin conditioned only with UB sealer was the highest among four sealers in light cure composite resin.
As the influence of fine dust on society spreads gradually, the public's interest in indoor air is increasingly rising. Air-purifying plants are drawing keen attention due to their natural purifying function enabled by plant physiology. However, as their fine dust reduction mechanism is limited to adsorption only, vegetation bio-filters that optimize purification effects through integration with air-conditioning systems is rising as an alternative. In accordance with the relevant standard test methods, this study looked into the fine dust reduction assessment method by air-conditioning airflow volume that can be used for the industrial spread of vegetation bio-filters. In the case of PM10 at 300 ㎍/m3, it was in the order of EG-B(3,500CMH, 29 min.) < EG-A (2,500CMH, 37 min.) < CG(0CMH, 64 min.) for reaching the maintenance level (100 ㎍/m3) of publicly used facilities. For reaching the WHO Guideline(50 ㎍/m3) requirement, it was in the order of EG-B (51 min.) < EG-A (160 min.) < CG (170 min.). In the case of PM2.5, it was in the order of EG-B (26 min.) < EG-A (33 min.) < CG (57 min.) for reaching the maintenance level (50 ㎍/m3) of publicly used facilities. It was in the order of EG-B (48 min) < EG-A (140 min) < CG (158 min) for reaching the WHO Guideline (25 ㎍/m3) requirement. The findings from the analysis showed that fine dust can be reduced most efficiently when the system is operated at 3,500CMH level. The limitation of this study is that due to the absence of a way of assessing the stress of plants in vegetation bio-filters, generating optimal air-conditioning air flow of the relevant system and economics analysis against the existing facility-type air purification system have been clarified, which should be explored further though follow-up studies.

Indoor ozone has received attention because of its well-documented adverse effects on health. In addition to the inherently harmful effects of ozone, it can also initiate a series of reactions that generate potentially irritating oxidation products, including free radicals, aldehydes, organic acids and secondary organic aerosols (SOA). Especially, ozone reacts actively with terpene. The overarching goal of this work was to better understand ozone and terpene distributions within rooms. Towards this end, the paper has two parts. The first describes the development of a cylindrical test chamber that can be used to obtain the second order rate constant $(k_b)$ for the bi-molecular chemical reaction of ozone and terpene in the air phase. The second consists of model room experiments coupled with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis of the experimental scenarios to obtain ozone and terpene distributions in various turbulent flow fields. The results of CFD predictions were in reasonable agreement with the experimental measurements.

The MVR was theoretically modeled by performing the polytropic process, and the polytropic coefficient was estimated by using the performance curve provided by the manufacturers. The TVR was investigated by applying the conservation equations to the movement of fluids inside the TVR. The size of the nozzle and diffuser was determined. Theoretical MVR and TVR modeling was verified by comparing the results of the model with the available design data. Besides, the effects of multi-staging of the MVR on power consumption, and the effects of suction and primary pressure on the sizing of TVR were investigated.

For piping line systems associated with a double-acting reciprocating compressor, an analytical study has been made on the gas pulsation in piping lines and its effects on the compressor performance. The transfer matrix which relates mass flow rate to the gas pulsation downstream of the compressor valve can be obtained by an acoustic model for piping line systems which include snubber and after-cooler with the aid of four pole theory Since mass flow rate is affected by the pressure pulsation in the pressure plenum, while the latter being determined by the former, iteration in the calculation should be made for convergence. The gas pulsation in pipings is found to have an adverse effect on the compressor's performance, and the magnitude of the gas pulsation can be lowered by increasing snubber volume.

An experimental study was conducted to analyze the effects of oil on refrigerant flow through adiabatic capillary tubes, and to develop a model for mass flow rates of refrigerant/oil mixture at various capillary tubes and flow conditions. Mass flow rates and the profiles of the pressures and temperatures along the capillary tubes was obtained with the oil concentration of R-22/SUNISO 4GS oil mixture at various test conditions. The flow trends as a function of geometry and flow conditions for pure refrigerant and refrigerant/oil mixture were similar in adiabatic capillary tubes. Mass flow rate of the refrigerant/oil mixture was less than that of pure refrigerant at the same test conditions.

Artificial lighting accounts for a significant portion of the energy use in office buildings. Therefore, daylighting is considered one of the fundamental design features of energy-efficient buildings. However, complex daylighting simulation tools are not suitable for most designers to help in the decision-making process. This paper provides the results of a simulation analysis to determine the potential energy savings of daylighting effects reducing electrical energy consumption for office building. A whole building simulation tool is used to determine the effects of daylighting on lighting electricity use as well as total electricity use for typical office buildings. It was determined that daylighting does not provide significant additional lighting energy savings when glass transmittance is increased over 0.7 A simplified method is developed based on the analysis results to estimate the annual electrical energy savings attributed to daylighting.

The objective of the present study is to reveal the effects of a phase-change material on the performance of a Kimchi refrigerator. Two-percent salt water, of which melting temperature was $-1.1^{\circ}C$, was used for the phase-change material. The salt water was packed in silicon cases and inserted between Kimchi container and the copper pipe of the evaporator. The maximum and minimum temperatures of the inner wall of the Kimchi container without salt-water pack were $-0.2^{\circ}C$ and $-8.9^{\circ}C$, which were remarkably improved by using the salt-water packs, resulting $-0.5^{\circ}C$ and$ -1.9^{\circ}C$. This shows a useful application of using phase-change materials for accurate temperature controls.

This work studies the effects of transient reflectance on the thermal responses of a metal(gold) thin-film during ultrashort laser heating. The heating process is calculated using the conventional conduction model (parabolic one-step: POS), parabolic two-step model (PTS) with and without variable properties, hyperbolic two-step model (HTS). Results from the HTS model are very similar to those from the PTS model, since the laser heating time in this study is greater than the electron relaxation time. PTS model with variable properties, however, results in totally different temperature profiles compared to those from POS models or calculation with constant properties. Transient reflectances are estimated from electron temperature distributions and based on the linear relationship between the electron temperature and complex dielectric constants. Reflectance of the front surface can be changed with respect to dielectric constants, while those of the rear surface remain unchanged.

A popular type of residential air conditioner is the split system which has two separate units: indoor and outdoor units During field installation of the split system, the potential exists for not setting the charge exactly to the manufacturer´s specifications. The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of the refrigerant charge on the performance of the air conditioner. An air conditioner with capillary tube expansions was tested for various refrigerant charges. The results indicated that the more charge resulted in the more flowrate of the refrigerant. The flowrate of the refrigerant was one of the most important factors to understand the e(sects of the charge on the performance of the air conditioner with capillary tube expansions. Under-charge results in wide region of superheated vapor of the refrigerant in the evaporator, while over-charge results in high temperature of the liquid refrigerant in the evaporator.
