Strength Evaluation for Cap Plate on the Node Connection in Circular Steel Tube Diagrid System

  • Diagrid system has been in the spotlight for its superiority in terms of the resistance to lateral force when applied to skyscrapers. In diagrid system, most of columns can be eliminated because vertical loads (gravity loads) and horizontal loads (lateral loads) are delivered simultaneously thanks to the triangular shape of diagrid. However, lack of studies on connection shape and node connection details makes it hard to employ the system to the buildings. In this study, the structural safety of the node connections in circular steel tube diagrid system which has been considered in the Cyclone Tower in Korea (Seven stories below and fifty-one above the ground) was evaluated using the 4 full-scale specimens. The parameters are the extended length (20 mm, 40 mm & 60 mm), thickness (40 mm & 50 mm).

농업소유역에서 직접유출과 기저유출에 의한 오염부하특성 (Pollutant Load Characteristics by Direct Runoff and Baseflow from Small Scale Agricultural Watershed)

  • Natural environment of Weolgok-ri watershed has been well preserved as a traditional agricultural watershed. A year record of streamflow, $NO_3-N$, T-N and T-P concentrations data(Apr, 2004-Mar. 2005) was examined to estimate annual and seasonal patterns of pollutnat loads in streamflow and baseflow from the agriculture watershed. To estimate pollutant loads from baseflow, baseflow component from total stream flow was seperated using digital filter method in the Web-based Hydrograph Analysis Tool system. Loads of $NO_3-N$, T-N and T-P from streamflow and baseflow were evaluated to investigate pollutant loads contribution by baseflow. The $NO_3-N$, T-N, and T-P loads from streamflow were 13.85 kg/ha, 45.92 kg/ha and 1.887 kg/ha, respectively. $NO_3-N$, T-N and T-P loads from baseflow were 7.43 kg/ha, 24.70 kg/ha, 0.582 kg/ha, respectively. It was found that $NO_3-N$ and T-N loads were contributed by the baseflow(53% and 53% of Total-loads) than the direct runoff(47% and 47% of Total loads). However, only 30% of total T-P was contributed by the baseflow. It is recommended that one needs to assess pollutant load contribution by the baseflow to identify appropriate control strategies for effective watershed management.

지중 매설 GFRP 관로 및 플랜지의 거동 분석 (Behavior Analysis of Buried GFRP Pipes and Flanges)

  • Static analyses and buckling analyses were carried out for buried GFRP pipes by using finite element method. Vehicle loads, vertical and lateral soil pressures were considered as external loads, and supplying water pressure was considered as an internal load. Nine types of the factory-manufactured GFRP pipes were analyzed. Their maximum stresses and displacements were compared with the limit displacements and ultimate stress. Additionally, stress analysis on an enhanced flange, which was designed to reduce stress concentration, was performed. A cantilever analysis was carried out to know the maximum stress on the neck of the flange, which is the critical part. And a static analysis was carried for the buried flange. The test results showed that GFRP pipes were safe and stable against the external loads. And they showed that the enhanced flange decreased about 35% of the stress concentration.

농촌의 비닐하우스 재배지역에서 배출되는 강우유출수의 특성 (Characteristics of Stormwater Runoff discharged from vinyl greenhouse growing area in farming area)

  • 국내의 수질정책은 하천으로 방류되는 방류수의 농도를 규제하는 방식에서 총량을 규제하는 방식으로 바뀌었다. 또한 수질오염총량관리제가 실시되어 각 수계의 구역별로 목표 수질이 정해지게 되었다. 수질오염총량관리제가 성공적으로 이행되기 위해서는 점오염원 및 비점오염원으로부터 배출되는 오염물질의 부하량을 정확하게 파악해야 한다. 이에 본 연구는 농촌의 밭지역을 대상으로 27회의 강우유출수 모니터링을 실시하였으며, 모니터링 결과를 활용하여 밭지역으로부터 배출되는 오염물질의 부하량 및 원단위 등을 산정하였다. 그 결과, 유기물질인 BOD 및 $COD_{Mn}$의 경우 오염물질의 평균 유출농도는 10.5mg/L와 19.6mg/L로 나타났으며, 영양염류인 TN과 TP는 4.5mg/L 및 2.4mg/L로 분석되었다. 한편, 국립환경과학원에서 제시한 원단위 산정 공식에 의해 산정된 원단위는 BOD $31.8kg/km^2/yr$, $COD_{Mn}$ $56.7kg/km^2/yr$, TOC $8.5kg/km^2/yr$, TSS $560.9kg/km^2/yr$, TN과 TP는 각각 $8.3kg/km^2/yr$$5.1kg/km^2/yr$로 산정되었다. 이러한 모니터링 결과는 연구자마다 그 결과 값에 차이가 있는 것으로 밝혀졌으며, 이에 정확한 원단위 산정을 위해서는 장기적인 모니터링이 이루어져야 할 것으로 판단된다.

  • We have experimented an actual solar water heating system acquiring real data for one year period. On the basis of the operation data, it is necessary to predict the system performance such as collector efficiency and solar fraction, and to analyze the economical efficiency for system optimal design. To estimate the performance of actual systems through simulation, valid modelling for components consisting of the system should be accompanied. The present study is focused on the modelling for load patterns and operating control conditions. We proposed two load models: concentration model which gathers real loads as a meaningful group and distribution model which disperses real loads with time. If grouping of the load distribution is suitable, the predicted values by the concentration model approaches to those by the distribution model close to actual load pattern apparently. As a result, both of them are in good agreement with those by experiment.

SBR에서 충격부하에 따른 완충효과 (Buffering effects of shock loads in sequencing batch reactor)

  • In this study, we investigated the buffering effect with different COD, $NH_4{^+}-N$ and TP shock loads on the performance of lab-scale Sequencing Batch Reactor(SBR) using synthetic wastewater. This study was operated under the following conditions : HRT, 12 hrs : MLSS, 2,000 mg/L : F/M ratio, $0.2kgCOD/kgMLSS{\cdot}d$ : SRT, 20days, and was increased by a factor, COD : ranging from 200-2000 mg/L, $NH_4{^+}-N$ : ranging from 30-300 mg/L, T-P : ranging from 5-50 mg/L in the reactor. As results, COD removal rate at different shock loads was decreased until 42.1%(stable state : 95%) and concentration with effluent was higher than 695 mg/L(at Run 6). In case of $NH_4{^+}-N$ removal rate was decreased until 35.8% from 97.0% and also T-P removal rate was decreased until 5.0%. Effluent concentrations of COD, $NH_4{^+}-N$ and T-P were rapidly increased according to shock loads and needed 3, 4 and 6 additional cycle times for recovering the stable condition.

화성호 유역의 수질관리를 위한 유역모델링 연구 (Watershed Modeling Research for Receiving Water Quality Management in Hwaseong Reservoir Watershed)

  • HSPF model based on BASINS was applied for the Hwaseong Reservoir watershed (HRW) to evaluate the feasibility of water quality management. The watershed was divided into 45 sub-basins considering various watershed environment. Streamflow was calibrated based on the measured meteorological data, discharge data of treatment plants and observed streamflow data for 2010 year. Then the model was calibrated against the field measurements of water qualities, including BOD, T-N and T-P. In most cases, there were reasonable agreements between observed and predicted data. The validated model was used to analyze the characterization of pollutant load from study area. As a result, Non-point source pollutant loads during the rainy season was about 66~78% of total loads. In rainy-season, water quality parameters depended on precipitation and pollutant loads patterns, but their concentration were not necessarily high during the rainy season, and showed a decreasing trend with increasing water flow. As another result of evaluation for load duration curves, in order to improve water qualities to the satisfactory level, the watershed managements considering both time-variant and pollution sources must be required in the HRW. Overall, it was found that the model could be used conveniently to assess watershed characteristics and pollutant loads in watershed scale.

새만금 사업지구의 연안해역에서 부영양화관리를 위한 생태계모델의 적용 -2. 오염부하의 정량적 관리- (Application of Ecosystem Model for Eutrophication Control in Coastal Sea of Saemankeum Area -2. Quantitative Management of Pollutant Loading-)

  • One of the most important factors that cause eutrophication is nutrient materials containing nitrogen and phosphorus which stem from excreation of terrestial sources and release from sediment. Therefore, to improve water quality, the reduction of these nutrients loads should be indispensible. At this study, the three-dimensional numerical hydrodynamic and ecosystem model, which was developed by Institute for Resources and Environment of Japan, were applied to analyze the processes affecting the eutrophication. The residual currents, which were obtained by integrating the simulated tidal currents over 1 tidal cycle, showed the presence of a typical counterclockwise eddies between Gyewha and Garyuk island. Density driven currents were generated westward at surface and eastward at the bottom in Saemankeum area where the fresh waters are flowing into, The ecosystem model was calibrated with the data surveyed in the field of the study area in annual average. The simulated results were fairly good coincided with the observed values within relative error of $30\%$. The simulations of DIN and DIP concentrations were performed using ecosystem model under the conditions of $40\~100\%$ pollution load reductions from pollution sources. In study area, concentration of DIN and DIP were reduced to $59\%$ and $28\%$ in case of the $80\%$ reduction of the input loads from fresh water respectively. But pollution loads from sediment had hardly affected DIN and DIP concentration, The $95\%$ input load abatement is necessary to meet the DIN and DIP concentration of second grade of ocean water quality criteria.

Stress concentrations around a circular hole in an infinite plate of arbitrary thickness

  • This paper presents theoretical solutions for the three-dimensional (3D) stress field in an infinite isotropic elastic plate containing a through-the-thickness circular hole subjected to far-field in-plane loads by using Kane and Mindlin's assumption. The dangerous position, where the premature fracture or failure of the plate will take place, the expressions of the tangential stress at the surface of the hole and the out-of-plane stress constraint factor are found in a concise, explicit form. Based on the present theoretical solutions, a comprehensive analysis is performed on the deviated degree of the in-plane stresses from the related plane stress solutions, stress concentration and out-of-plane constraint, and the emphasis has been placed on the effects of the plate thickness, Poisson's ratio and the far-field in-plane loads on the stress field. The analytical solution shows that the effects of the plate thickness and Poisson's ratio on the deviation of the 3D in-plane stress components is obvious and could not be ignored, although their effects on distributions of the in-plane stress components are slight, and that the effect of the far-field in-plane loads is just on the contrary of that of the above two. When only the shear stress is loaded at far field, the stress concentration factor reach its peak value about 8.9% higher than that of the plane stress solutions, and the out-of-plane stress constraint factor can reach 1 at the surface of the hole and is the biggest among all cases considered.

  • PMV, $CO_2$ and the energy consumption performance were numerically investigated in a large space with air-conditioning systems of four type. The numerical results showed that thermal comforts in the occupied zone are nearly similar in three systems except 3-way wall type system air-conditioner with ventilation system installed 2.2m height from the bottom. In case of 3-way wall type system air-conditioner the energy consumption for cooling loads was reduced about 25.5% compared to other air-conditioning systems. From the viewpoint of IAQ, it was turned out that system air-conditioner with ventilation system became worse about 20% compared to central air-conditioning systems for cooling load. The PMV, $CO_2$ concentration and energy consumption of all systems for heating loads were similar in a large space considered.
