  • With the change of global awareness of Computing education and introspection about Computer education focused on ICT literacy, efforts are being made to reflect computational thinking in the new curriculum. But if computational thinking would be possible at school, it require tremendous cost to prepare computers for school. In this study, we investigate potentiality and constraints of the one board computer to teach computational thinking in school. We study fundamental performance, application of physical computing and programming education, maintenance of the computers, power consumption of the one board computers which is raspberry pi, beagle bone black, and pcduino3. The result of the study show that one board computer can substitute desktop of the school unless tasks related to require massive data storage and processing. We draw a conclusion that Pcduino3 is well-suited for computational thinking education.

  • The sensor registry system has been proposed to interpret and process semantics of sensor data independently of heterogeneous sensor networks. However, the existing sensor registry system provides the static processing method. In other words, the existing system reduces the overall performance because it executes unnecessary operations and does not consider data scope to be used. To resolve the problem of the existing sensor registry system, this paper proposes a performance enhancement model based on sensor metadata reusability and scoping. The proposed model in this paper provides a function that can decide a proper scope of sensor metadata from the sensor registry system. The proposed model improves the overall performance by providing reusability of sensor metadata. This paper also shows the advantages of the proposed model through the comparative performance evaluation.

  • Cloud computing is a computing paradigm in which users can rent computing resources from service providers according to their requirements. A spot instance in cloud computing helps a user to obtain resources at a lower cost. However, a crucial weakness of spot instances is that the resources can be unreliable anytime due to the fluctuation of instance prices, resulting in increasing the failure time of users' job. In this paper, we propose a Genetic Algorithm (GA)-based workflow scheduling scheme that can find the optimal task size of each instance in a spot instance-based cloud computing environment without increasing users' budgets. Our scheme reduces total task execution time even if an out-of-bid situation occurs in an instance. The simulation results, based on a before-and-after GA comparison, reveal that our scheme achieves performance improvements in terms of reducing the task execution time on average by 7.06%. Additionally, the cost in our scheme is similar to that when GA is not applied. Therefore, our scheme can achieve better performance than the existing scheme, by optimizing the task size allocated to each available instance throughout the evolutionary process of GA.

  • The main goal of higher education institutions is to present a high level of quality education to its students. This study uses data mining techniques to extract educational data from cumulative databases and used them to make the right decisions. This paper also aims to find the factors affecting students' academic performance in Majmaah University, KSA, during 2010 - 2017 period. The study utilized a sample of 6,158 students enrolled from two colleges, males and females. The results showed a high percentage of stumbling and dismissed between graduate and regular students where more than 62.5% failed to follow the plan. Only 2% of students scored distinction during their study of all graduated since their grade point average, secondary level, was statistically significant, where p<0.05. Dismissed percentage was higher among males. These results promoted some recommendations in which decision-makers could take them in considerations for better improvement of academic achievements: including of specialized programs to follow-up in regards to stumbling and failure. Utilization of different communication tools are needed to activate academic advisory for dismiss and dropout evaluation.

  • This study suggests a revised TAM (Technology Acceptance Model)-based performance evaluation model in MS (management science) education. Recently, many MS education programs are developed on the basis of computer and Internet communication technology. Previous researchers used TAM as an individual performance evaluation model, and proved that perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use are the substantive successful factors. This study provides a revised TAM-based conceptual framework for understanding what is involved in improving university MS education and what might be implied by conducting research on its improvement. It is argued in this research that three sets of forces and conditions have a direct and indirect impact on MS education ; first, each student has self efficacy and it is a critical determinant of behavior next, the use of Internet-based information system at MS education affects on the renewal of MS education : and finally, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use have impacts on behavioral intention and actual system usage. This research concludes with suggestions for which direction this framework provides for future research on the premise and limits of efforts to renew MS education in university.

  • In this paper, we proposes a method to effectively evaluate learner competencies of computational thinking. Developed descriptive performance assessment tool is the use of assessment items presented in a creative computing MIT. This tool is selected and modified items through expert delphi technique. The performance assessment tool is composed of four areas that are an experimenting and iterating, testing and debugging, reusing and remixing and abstracting and modularizing. We apply to software classes for the pre-service teachers and conducted this descriptive performance assessment. Applying result of the assessment, the developed assessment tool shows the reliability $Cronbach-{\alpha}$ values higher than 0.6. In addition, the validity of the test results is higher in experts delphi test. Descriptive assessment tool suggested in this study are identified as a useful assessment tool to effectively measure student CT competencies.

  • Informatics curriculum has been revised for informatics principles and concepts to effectively teach. According to the revised curriculum, researches are verifying the educational effects of algorithmic thinking and problem-solving abilities using programming language by applying it to various area. However, researches in programming education considering the level of student are yet incomplete. This research has analyzed the impact of the perceived level of problem solving on the performance of project completeness. As results of difference of project completeness, a high perceived level of problem solving group's performance of project completeness was higher than a low perceived level of problem solving group's one. Analysis of the impact of the perceived level of problem solving on the performance of project completeness, 'problem finding' factor had a significant impact. This research suggested the importance of 'problem finding' and self-reflecting introspective 'reviewing' stages in problem solving process using programming language.abstract of your study in English. • The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of social network centrality variables on students' performance in blended learning environment in a higher educational institution. Using data from 36-student course on Learning Theories and Their Implications on Instructional Design Practices, the researcher empirically tested how social network centrality variables - such as friendship network centrality, advice network centrality, and adversary network centrality - are correlated with academic achievement measures. Results indicate, as hypothesized, the friendship and advice centrality positively correlate with, whereas the adversary centrality being negatively correlate with application performance measures and test scores. The size and quality of posted online discussions are positively and strongly correlated with the advice network centrality.

  • Cloud Computing is internet-based computing, where the users are provided with whatever service they need from the resources, software, and information. Recently, the security of cloud computing is considered as one of the major issues for both cloud service providers CSP and end-users. Privacy and highly confidential data make many users refuse to store their data within cloud computing, since data on cloud computing is not dully secured. The cryptographic algorithm is a technique which is used to maintain the security and privacy of the data on the cloud. In this research, we applied eight different cryptographic algorithms on Xen and KVM as hypervisors on cloud computing, to be able to measure and compare the performance of the two hypervisors. Response time and CPU utilization while encryption and decryption have been our aspects to measure the performance. In terms of response time and CPU utilization, results show that KVM is more efficient than Xen on average at 11.5% and 11% respectively. While TripleDES cryptographic algorithm shows a more efficient time response at Xen hypervisor than KVM.

  • In elementary moral education, performance assessment should be conducted in both cognitive, affective, and behavioral domains in harmony. The present study attempts to consider the features of performance assessment in elementary moral education; classify them by the types of assessment, and; implement and apply the web-based performance assessment system, in which teachers, students, and parents all participate. The development of this web-based performance assessment system for elementary moral education allowed the students to carry out the performance assessment process by themselves and to see the result no matter when and where they are. The students became interested in their own behavior, and the parents got to have a broader range of understanding for their children by participating in personal in the assessment procedure. The parents also realized that home guidance for their children's life habits became pretty easy. It is expected that the performance assessment system carried out based on the collaboration between the school and the family will be helpful in applying the contents of the moral subject studied at school and the relevant knowledge and skills to the actual life outside the school.
