  • While the average-case performance is important for general-purpose applications, worst-case performance is crucial for real-time systems to ensure schedulability and reliability. Recent work has shown that simple prefetching techniques such as the Next-N-Line prefetching can benefit both average-case and worst-case performance; however, the improvement on the worstcase execution time (WCET) is rather limited and inefficient. This paper presents two instruction prefetching approaches that are specially designed to enhance the worst-case performance, including the loop-based prefetching and WCET-oriented prefetching. Our experiments indicate that both instruction prefetching techniques can achieve better worst-case execution cycles than the Next-N-Line prefetching while having various impacts on the average-case performance.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out a flow characteristics when a crossflow-fan is installed inside the computer case and to provide information about the preliminary data of cooling efficiency of CPU and a flow inside and outside of a computer case. Under the condition of operating the fan inside the experimental duct we changed the position of a installation of the slot, and the experiment measured with PIV and the results are as follows. Under the influence of the crossflow-fan installed to the air discharging side, mean velocity between 35 to 45 on the point 80 of the Slot 0.2.3 of the case increased and it influences discharging the air inside of the computer case. On the left-upper end. which isn't directly influenced by the suction-discharging fan installed inside the PC, a flow occurs caused by vortex due to the Sirocco-Fan and Slot installed on the center of the right side. We can see that a flow distribution increases when the Sirocco-Fan operates and a whirl appears stronger between the slot and the suction fan. It is thought that this phenomenon is influenced by a flow while it is on the way of entering from the suction-fan and going out to the discharging-fan.

  • We study the integration problem in which one wants to compute the approximation to the definite integral in the average case setting. We choose the composite Newton- Cotes quadratures as our algorithm and the function values at equally spaced sample points on the given interval[0, 1]as information. We compute the average case error of composite Newton-Cotes quadratures and show that it is minimal (modulo a multi-plicative constant).

  • Under the i.i.d. hypothesis, authors (1982, 1984) proved some local limit theorems both for the continuous case and for the lattice case. In this paper, results are extended to the case where the random vectors are not identically distributed.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out a flow characteristics required by the design of a computer case and to provide information about the preliminary data of cooling efficiency of CPU and a flow inside of a case. We examined a flow characteristic-suction a tracing particle occurred from a surge tand installed at an inlet into a computer case and moving it to a exit duct-experimentally by using PIV. The experimental device was consists of a fan inflowing and discharging the air into the computer case and a slot installed with a CPU cooling ran add-on, and analyzed the data of Re-stress distribution, velocity distribution, and kinetic energy distribution. This research will make a great contribution to improvement of the efficiency and performance of notebook, workstation, server, and all the design of electronic devices using large scale integrated(LSI) as well as usual computers.

  • Most work done in CSCW (Computer Supported Collaborative Work) system has been targeted toward supporting the exchange of documents or messages among group members, and yet support for cognitive aspects such as group organization, division and merge of work, and work flow control. The objective of the study is to provide CSCW environment for the engineering design process such as CAD (Computer Aided Design) and CASE (Computer Aided Software Engineering). The proposed DCWA (Distributed Collaborative Writing Aid) system suggests a mechanism that unifies the group organization, work division, and work flow control in the CAO, CASE, and software simulation tool. In particular, CAD relates the group and work partition by providing expressing the relation of drawing object (e.g., binding, attachment, and proportional scaling) which is owned by different members of group, and CASE combining with the simulation tool supports the flexibility of the work flow control. Simulating the prototype before manu-facturing a product can reduce time and cost in development.

  • A worst-case estimate of an envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) is obtained for small multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) mobile antennas operating below 1 GHz. The worst-case estimate is numerically derived in this paper using spherical and exponential wave functions. The derived result confirms that the worst-case ECC can be easily obtained from the rotation angle between the radiation patterns of two MIMO elements, which are attained directly from the amplitude of 2D electric field patterns without any additional phase and polarization information. As a practical example, MIMO mobile antennas with different antenna element arrangements are compared to verify the validity of the proposed worst-case estimate. Moreover, based on these analyses, we also suggest an effective approach to reduce the ECC of a small MIMO mobile antenna operating below 1 GHz by properly locating the antenna elements to make the radiation patterns perpendicular to each other.

  • Several companies have migrated their existing monolithic web applications to microservice architectures. Consequently, research on the identification of microservices from monolithic web applications has been conducted. Meanwhile, the use-case model plays a crucial role in outlining the system's functionalities at a high level of abstraction, and studies have been conducted to identify microservices by utilizing this model. However, previous studies on microservice identification utilizing use-cases did not consider the components executed in the presentation layer. Unlike existing approaches, this paper proposes a technique that considers all three layers of web applications (presentation, business logic, and data access layers). Initially, the components used in the three layers of a web application are extracted by executing all the scenarios that constitute its use-cases. Thereafter, the usage rate of each component is determined for each use-case and the component is allocated to the use-case with the highest rate. Then, each use-case is realized as a microservice. To verify the proposed approach, microservice identification is performed using open-source web applications.

  • This study critically review the textbooks and the syllabus of computer network courses currently used at universities, and the specifications of the certifications concerned to provide the students with the competitive and optimized course contents. Considering the vitality of the practicum in the computer network courses, we also suggest a new learning-instruction case study that focuses on the practice by analyzing the computer network practice test simulators which are certified nationally and the internationally. The proposed learning-instruction case study for computer network courses includes the weekly core lessons and contents, study goals and key points, the practice theme, handy tools based on two track of lecture and practice. Therefore it is expected to be a quite resourceful and practical teaching plan for the teacher, and a highly achievement of learning outcomes through motivation which can facilitate CCNA certification enrolling in the field of network aspect for the learner.

  • The conventional motor-driven MCCB (molded-case circuit breaker) is not only large in size, but also inefficient in performance. To solve these problems, this paper suggests SPMA (separate permanent-magnet actuator), a novel magnetic actuator. In this paper, SPMA is designed for a 225AF MCCB and compared to a conventional motor-driven MCCB and to an EMFA (electro-magnetic force driving actuator)-type MCCB.
