A Study on Programming Ability Assessment Tool Development for the No-Programming Experienced

  • Programming is very important subject in computer science and similar computer-related areas such as electronics engineering, etc. Programming is also important for information education for elementary, middle, and high school students since programming is one of the most basic subjects in computer science courses and other similar areas. In current information and knowledge society, raising programming ability is a key factor for everyone's competitiveness. With highly-competitive programming ability, one can enjoy his or her daily life abundantly. He or she also can get a highly-paid job, and make money using his or her programming ability. In this paper, a programming ability assessment tool is developed and introduced for the no-programming experienced. It is very difficult to test programming ability for the no-programming experienced with non-programming tools or activities. In this paper, a programming ability assessment tool is developed based on logical thinking ability. Especially the proposed tool consists of 15 questions for test one's logical thinking ability. The tool does not require any computer science or programming background. The proposed tool will be helpful as criteria for entrance examination or job screening examination for programming-related areas or subjects.

  • The application of e-Voting plays an important role in order to support democracy activities in Indonesia, such as elections at different levels. E-Voting has the function of providing better service to people in order to participate in elections. This research attempts to develop the appearance of the user interface of e-Voting based on users' emotional preferences using Kansei Engineering. Kansei Engineering is used in this research to analyze emotional feelings regarding e-Voting applications' presented Kansei words and give a recommendation on the most suitable user interface to be considered in their development. This research observed two main users' emotional feelings ("calm" and "formal") selected from ten Kansei words. The final recommendation is a conceptual element designed for designing e-Voting applications based on the Kansei word "calm".

모바일 과학학습 성과에 대한 시간관리, 유용성, 흥미의 예측력 검증 (Predictability of M-Learning Outcomes by Time management, Usefulness, and Interest in Science Education)

  • 본 연구는 시간관리, 유용성, 흥미가 모바일 과학학습 성과를 예측하는지 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 A여자 고등학교 2학년 학생 144명을 대상으로 약 5주 동안 모바일 기기를 활용하여 과학수업을 진행하였다. 수업 후, 시간관리, 유용성, 흥미, 만족도, 성취도, 학습지속의향에 관한 설문 결과를 수집하여, 상관분석 및 다중회귀분석으로 데이터를 분석하였다. 연구결과, 시간관리, 유용성, 흥미가 학습성과 중 만족도, 학습지속의향을 예측하였고, 시간관리, 유용성은 인지된 성취도를 유의미하게 예측하였다. 이는 모바일 과학수업에서 학습성과를 높이기 위해서는 시간관리전략에 대한 교육프로그램 제공과, 모바일학습에 대한 긍정적인 태도를 함양할 수 있도록 하는 교육이 마련되어야 함을 시사한다.

Software Engineering Meets Network Engineering: Conceptual Model for Events Monitoring and Logging

  • Abstraction applied in computer networking hides network details behind a well-defined representation by building a model that captures an essential aspect of the network system. Two current methods of representation are available, one based on graph theory, where a network node is reduced to a point in a graph, and the other the use of non-methodological iconic depictions such as human heads, walls, towers or computer racks. In this paper, we adopt an abstract representation methodology, the thinging machine (TM), proposed in software engineering to model computer networks. TM defines a single coherent network architecture and topology that is constituted from only five generic actions with two types of arrows. Without loss of generality, this paper applies TM to model the area of network monitoring in packet-mode transmission. Complex network documents are difficult to maintain and are not guaranteed to mirror actual situations. Network monitoring is constant monitoring for and alerting of malfunctions, failures, stoppages or suspicious activities in a network system. Current monitoring systems are built on ad hoc descriptions that lack systemization. The TM model of monitoring presents a theoretical foundation integrated with events and behavior descriptions. To investigate TM modeling's feasibility, we apply it to an existing computer network in a Kuwaiti enterprise to create an integrated network system that includes hardware, software and communication facilities. The final specifications point to TM modeling's viability in the computer networking field.

An intelligent planner of processing equipment for CSCW-based shop floor control in agile manufacturing

  • A common control model used to implement computer integrated manufacturing(CIM) is based on the hierarchical decomposition of the shop floor activities, in which supervisory controllers are responsible for all the interactions among subordinates. Although the hierarchical control philosophy provides for easy understanding of complex systems, an emerging manufacturing paradigm, agile manufacturing, requires a new control structure necessary to accommodate the rapid development of a shop floor controller. This is what is called CSCW(computer supported cooperative work)-based control or component-based heterarchical control. As computing resources and communication network on the shop floor become increasingly intelligent and powerful, the new control architecture is about to come true in a modern CIM system. In this paper, CSCW-based control is adopted and investigated, in which a controller for a unit of device performs 3 main functions - planning, scheduling and execution. In this paper, attention is paid to a planning function and all the detailed planning activities for CSCW-based shop floor control are identified. Interactions with other functions are also addressed. Generally speaking, planning determines tasks to be scheduled in the future. In other words, planning analyzes process plans and transforms process plans into detailed plans adequate for shop floor control. Planning is also responsible for updating the process plan and identifying/resolving replanning activities whether they come from scheduling or execution.

  • 본 논문에서는 컴퓨터 프로그래밍 수업에서 정규 수업과 연계하여 학습자들의 수준별 맞춤형 학습 활동을 별도로 진행할 경우, 학습자들의 학습 수준을 평가하여 수준별 팀 구성을 하게 되는데 학습 수준을 평가하기 위해 프로그래밍 작성 능력과 같은 학습실력 이외에 학습 의욕이나 도전 정신 등 다른 요소들을 함께 반영하여 팀 구성을 하게 되면 어떤 학습 효과를 거둘 수 있는지에 대해 연구해보고자 한다.

Determination of Object Similarity Closure Using Shared Neighborhood Connectivity

  • Sequential object analysis are playing vital role in real time application in computer vision and object detections.Measuring the similarity in two images are very important issue any authentication activities with how best to compare two independent images. Identification of similarities of two or more sequential images is also the important in respect to moving of neighborhoods pixels. In our study we introduce the morphological and shared near neighborhoods concept which produces a sufficient results of comparing the two images with objects. Considering the each pixel compare with 8-connectivity pixels of second image. For consider the pixels we expect the noise removed images are to be considered, so we apply the morphological transformations such as opening, closing with erosion and dilations. RGB of pixel values are compared for the two sequential images if it is similar we include the pixels in the resultant image otherwise ignore the pixels. All un-similar pixels are identified and ignored which produces the similarity of two independent images. The results are produced from the images with objects and gray levels. It produces the expected results from our process.

  • 이 연구에서 제안한 교육프로그램은 예비교사들을 대상으로 인지심리학의 개념습득 이론 중 원형이론과 본보기 이론의 상호보완을 통하여 정보교육의 필요성과 개념을 습득하도록 하였다. 또한 언플러그드형 수업사례 시연활동을 통하여 컴퓨터과학에 관한 지식이 부족한 학습자들에게 교수-학습 설계능력을 향상시키고, 컴퓨터과학의 개념과 원리를 습득할 수 있도록 하였다. 예비교사들에게 적용해본 결과 효과성이 높은 유의미한 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.

  • The characteristic features of Malaysia's climate is has stable temperature, with high humidity and copious rainfall. Weather forecasting is an important task in Malaysia as it could affetcs man irrespective of mans job, lifestyle and activities especially in the agriculture. In Malaysia, numerical method is the common used method to forecast weather which involves a complex of mathematical computing. The models used in forecasting are supplied by other counties such as Europe and Japan. The goal of this project is to forecast weather using another technology known as artificial neural network. This system is capable to learn the pattern of rainfall in order to produce a precise forecasting result. The supervised learning technique is used in the loaming process.

Regular application of a bug record keeping system is very helpful in developing software systems. We developed this system which helps the software testing team to keep a complete record of their testing activities during the software testing, also increases your confidence in the software quality, class and worth. Our proposed system offers trouble-free and effortless approaches to acquire desired information about bug, also produces different kinds of reports like summary reports, detailed reports etc. It gives facility to create, delete and update any project. Our developed application system is designed by using visual c# at front end and sql server 2008 management studio express at back end.
