원심압축기 임펠러의 Blockage와 Slip 특성에 관한 수치연구 (Numerical Study on Blockage and Slip Characteristics of Centrifugal Compressor Impellers)

  • As the second part of the author's study, the aerodynamic blockage and the slip factor of 8 centrifugal compressor impellers are investigated, when the flow rate is changed from numerical stall to choke, using three-dimensional Navier-Stokes analysis results. Based on all the exit blockage distributions, an improved model equation with two adjusting coefficients is developed for the use in design processes with the agile engineering purpose. A popular expression of constant slip factors, the Wiesner's equation, cannot be applied in design processes when more accurate prediction is strongly required at design and off-design points. Slip factor variation is found to be also influenced by the blade loadings at midspan. When the flow rate is changed, a pattern of the slip factor variations is assumed to be a simple form which can be explained using midspan blade loading distributions.

  • Shape optimization of a transonic axial compressor rotor operating at the design flow condition has been performed using three-dimensional Navier-Stokes analysis and three different surrogate models: i.e.., Response Surface Method(RSM), Kriging Method, and Radial Basis Function(RBF). Three design variables of blade sweep, lean and skew are introduced to optimize the three-dimensional stacking line of the rotor blade. The object function of the shape optimization is selected as an adiabatic efficiency. Throughout the shape optimization of the rotor blade, the adiabatic efficiency is increased for the three different surrogate models. Detailed flow characteristics at the optimal blade shape obtained by different optimization method are drawn and discussed.

케이싱 그루브가 존재하는 축류압축기의 성능특성 연구 (A Study on Performance Characteristics of an Axial Compressor with the Casing Groove)

  • This paper presents a study on the performance of NASA Rotor 37 with the casing grooves based on three-dimensional numerical analysis. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations are solved on a hexahedral grid with the shear stress transport model as a turbulence closure model. The governing equations are discretized by a finite volume method. The validation of the numerical results is performed through experimental data for the total pressure ratio and the adiabatic efficiency. The investigation for an axial compressor with a smooth casing and the casing grooves is carried out to compare the performance parameters, for example, surge margin and efficiency, etc. The surge margin is improved in the case of the casing grooves while remarkable improvement of the efficiency is not produced. The result shows that the casing groove is beneficial to expand the operating range of NASA Rotor 37.

  • The suction muffler of a reciprocating compressor is used for reducing noise produced by pressure pulsations. According to the shape, the suction muffler is classified into one-chamber type, two-chamber type, Helmholtz resonator type, pipe-resonator type, and so on. These mufflers are used according to the characteristics of the frequency of compressor noise. In this study, four pole parameters have been used for calculating Transmission Loss of the muffler, and Insertion Loss has been acquired for the optimum design of the muffler by the experiment.

  • The household reftigerator's noise which is closely related with resident environment can hardly be evaluated its sound quality using the Korean Standards. Radiation characteristics of compressor noise consist of tonal noise in low frequency range and, or narrow band noise in high frequency range. In this study, measuring method for detecting the abnormal and low-level noise in high frequency band is presented, and control method for its reduction is proposed. After installing wall which is similar to living condition, we determined a major concerning frequency band of noise. It can be found the directivity of high frequency noise radiated from compressor by using experiment and analysis. According to isolation of noise transfer path, remarkable noise reduction is achieved.

복잡한 형상의 머플러 음향특성 해석 및 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Analysis and Improvement of the Acoustic Characteristics of the Muffler with Complex Geometry)

  • An acoustic transmission loss analysis method for mufflers with complex geometry is developed using MSC/NASTRAN on the basis of acoustic-structural analogy and two-microphone method. In this study, mufflers with simple and complex shapes are analyzed using this method and compared with theoretical and experimental results to verify it. Applying this method to design of discharge muffler in a rotary compressor, we obtained 2dB(A) of noise reduction in the range of lower than 1300Hz. Futhermore, adopting this technique for a suction muffler in reciprocal compressor, more than 10dB(A) noise reduction at 500Hz, and in total, 3dB(A) noise reduction is achieved.

  • Solenoid operated electromagnetic control valve (ECV) using in an external variable displacement swash plate type compressor is widely used for air conditioning control system because of its low energy consumption and high efficient characteristics. ECV controls the entire vehicle air conditioning system by means of a pulse width modulation (PWM) system that supplied from an external controller. Different pressure ports located within ECV has important functions to control the air/refrigerant flow through its internal passages. The flow paths are preciously maintained with acceptable ranges of leakage (gap) between the parts inside it which is followed by effective design and critical dimensioning of its internal features. Therefore, it saves energy losses from the solenoid operation as well as ensures the balance of forces within it. The research paper highlights analysis of the leakages (at different pressure ports) and dimensioning tolerance factors that affects the ECV performance.

  • In this study, the Rayleigh's energy method and the Rayleigh-Ritz method on the basis of Flugge's shell theory was used to analyze the dynamic characteristics of the scroll compressor housing with clamped boundary condition. The frequencies and mode shapes from theoretical calculation were compared with those of commercial finite element code, ANSYS. In order to validate the theory, modal test was also performed by impact test and FFT analysis.

  • In this study, the characteristics of signals such as acoustic emission, vibration amplitude and noise level which are derived from the abnormal condition of compressor are investigated. The normal condition, vane stick sound and roller defect condition are chosen to analyze the signal in each cases. From the feature extraction of each signals, the dominant parameters of each signals which can identify the abnormal condition are suggested.

모세관 길이와 관경 변화에 따른 R-1270의 성능특성 (System Performance for Length and Diameter of Capillary Tube using R-1270)

  • Experimental results for performance characteristics of HCs refrigerant R-1270 and HCFC refrigerant R-22 during refrigeration system using capillary tube are presented. The system consists of compressor, condenser, capillary tube, evaporator and peripheral devices. Length and diameter of capillary tube are varied for this investigation. The refrigerant mass flow increased as the diameter of capillary tube increased and the length of capillary tube decreased. A refrigeration capacity and compressor work of R-1270 in same length and diameter of capillary tube showed the higher values than those of R-22. A coefficient of performance showed the highest value when the length and diameter of capillary tube are 105 cm and 1.8 mm in this experimental conditions.
