Preliminary experiment was peformed to investigate the leaching characteristics of paraffin waste forms that had been recently generated in large quantities at domestic nuclear power plants. At first, waste simulants whose compositions were different in mixing ratio of paraffin to boric acid were prepared. Their compressive strengths were measured and ninety-day leaching test of specimen including cobalt was carried out according to ANSI/ANS-16.1 test procedure. Water immersion test was also conducted keeping pace with leaching test and the weight change and the compressive strength of specimen were observed after ninety days. The compressive strength of waste form exhibited 666 psi (4.53 MPa) in the case where mixing ratio of boric acid to paraffin was 78/22, which was adopted in concentrate waste drying system of domestic nuclear power plants. The leaching test resulted in about 50% of the cumulative fraction leached for boric acid and cobalt, respectively. The specific gravity of waste form was 0.87 [g/g]whose value was less than that of water because the weight loss of about 39% occurred after the water immersion test of ninety days. It was also observed that the waste form which had undergone ninety-day water immersion test exhibited the compressive strength of 203 psi (1.38 MPa).

This paper presents procedure and prediction method of internal and external stabilities when designing D.C.M, with main factors to be considered, such as chemical reaction of additive, physical properties of stabilized body and mixing strength. Results show that through case studies, a design unconfined compressive strength of stabilized body (hereafter referred to as 'compressive strength') directly depends on the quantity of cement, which is decided by laboratory test, and the compressive strength enormously affects internal and external stabilities. So laboratory mixing test to obtain the compressive strength for design allowable stress should be given careful considerations.

The purpose of this study is to suggest the non-destructive equation for the estimation of concrete strength by ultrasonic pulse velocity at the Age of 28day compressive strength of $600{\sim}1000kg/cm^2$. For this purpose, selected test variables were water-hinder ratio, replacement ratio of silica fume, binder content, maximum size of coarse aggregate and sand-aggregate ratio. From the results, the average increase or decrease of ultrasonic pulse velocity is 61m/sec for each 1% of moisture content. And the correlation equation between the ultrasonic pulse velocity and the compressive strength of concrete is as follows. $F_c=896.3V_p-3514$ ($R^2$ = 0.81) where, $F_c$ : compressive strength($kgf/cm^2$), $V_p$ : ultrasonic velocity(km/sec).
Formwork is a temporary structure that supports its weight and that of fresh concrete as well as construction live loads. Slab formwork consists of sheathing, stringer, hanger and shore. In construction site, pipe supports are usually used as shores which are consisted of the slab formwork. In this study, compressive strength of 80 pipe supports was measured by knife edge test and plate test. Buckling load of pipe supports was analyzed by structural analysis program(MlDAS). Theoretical buckling load with/without initial deformation was got by theoretical analysis. According to these results, buckling load which was analyzed by structural analysis program(MlDAS) was larger than compressive strength of knife edge test and plate test. Theoretical buckling load without initial deformation was larger than compressive strength of knife edge test and plate test. But Theoretical buckling load with initial deformation was lower than compressive strength of knife edge test and plate test. Initial deformation equation for test method according to the pipe support length was suggested. Therefore, the present study results will be used to design the slab formwork safely.

The object of this study is to define the characteristics of high performance concrete with varing compressive strength of concrete and curing temperature. The major test variables are 1) high strength concrete(500kg/$cm^2$) and ordinary strength concrete(240kg/$cm^2$) compressive strength, 2) curing temperature and condition, 3) concrete curing age, 4) three types of cement. From the test results were shown that curing temperature and curing conditions were also very effective for high strength concrete and ordinary strength concrete, and concrete were largely effected by cement type and temperature during the hydration reaction process. This paper describes the effect of curing temperature for strength and characteristics of high performance concrete.

This paper provide nondestructive test method of concrete by applying ultrasonic pulse test. Whinstone aggregates produced from cheju island are used for coarse aggregate. The purpose of this study is to contribute to the standardization of nondestructive test for estimating compressive strength of concrete manufactured from cheju island. According to experimental results, it is found that compressive strength of Whinstone aggregates concrete shows higher than that of granite stone concrete, whereas ultrasonic pulse of Whinstone aggregates concrete shows lower that of granite concrete Based on the results of this study, estimation formula compressive strength by ultrasonic pulse test are presented in Fig 2.
The aim of the paper is to introduce the statistical definition of the specified compressive strength of the concrete to be used for safety evaluation of the existing structure in domestic practice and to present the practical method to obtain the specified strength by utilizing the non-destructive test data as well as the limited number of core test data. The statistical definition of the specified compressive strength of concrete in the design codes is reviewed and the consistent formulations to statistically estimate the specified strength for assessment are described. In order to prevent estimating an unrealistically small value of the specified strength due to limited number of data, it is proposed that the information from the non-destructive test data is combined to that of the minimum core test data. The the sample mean, standard deviation and total number of concrete test are obtained from combined test data. The proposed procedures are applied to an example test data composed of the artificial numerical values and the actual evaluation data collected from the bridge assessment reports. The calculation results show that the proposed statistical estimation procedures yield reasonable values of the specified strength for assessment by applying the non-destructive test data in addition to the limited number of core test data.

The sustainable development principle of replacing natural resources with renewable material is an important research topic. In this study, waste LCD (liquid crystal display) glass powder was used to replace cement (0%, 10%, 20% and 30%) through a volumetric method using three water-binder ratios (0.47, 0.59, and 0.71) to make cement mortar. The compressive strength was tested at the ages of 7, 28, 56 and 91 days. The test results show that the compressive strength increases with age but decreases as the water-binder ratio increases. The compressive strength slightly decreases with an increase in the replacement of LCD glass powder at a curing age of 7 days. However, at a curing age of 91 days, the compressive strength is slightly greater than that for the control group (glass powder is 0%). When the water-binder ratios are 0.47, 0.59 and 0.71, the compressive strength of the various replacements increases by 1.38-1.61 times, 1.56-1.80 times and 1.45-2.20 times, respectively, during the aging process from day 7 to day 91. Furthermore, a prediction model of the compressive strength of a cement mortar with waste LCD glass powder was deduced in this study. According to the comparison between the prediction analysis values and test results, the MAPE (mean absolute percentage error) values of the compressive strength are between 2.79% and 5.29%, and less than 10%. Thus, the analytical model established in this study has a good forecasting accuracy. Therefore, the proposed model can be used as a reliable tool for assessing the design strength of cement mortar from early age test results.

This study aims to determine the characteristics of concrete as identified by Rebound Hammer and Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) tests, focusing particularly on their efficacy in estimating compressive strength of concrete material. The study involved three concrete samples designed to achieve a target strength of 29 MPa, comprising normal concrete, instant concrete, and concrete with additives. These were cast into cube specimens measuring 150×150×150 mm. Compressive strength values were determined through both destructive and non-destructive testing on the cubic specimens. As a result, the non-destructive methods yielded varying outcomes for each correlation approach, influenced by the differing constituent materials in the tested concretes. However, normal concrete consistently showed the most reliable correlation, followed by concrete with additives, and lastly, instant concrete. The study found that combining Rebound Hammer and UPV tests enhances the prediction accuracy of compressive strength of concrete. This synergy was quantified through multivariate regression, considering UPV, rebound number, and actual compressive strength. The findings also suggest a more significant influence of the Rebound Hammer measurements on predicting compressive strength for BN and BA, whereas UPV and RN had a similar impact on predicting BI compressive strength.
