This study is a methodological research study to develop an instrument to measure in patients with cancer and to test the validity and reliability of the instrument. The research procedure was as follows : 1) The first step was to develop conceptual framework based on a comprehensive review of the literature and in-depth interviews with patients with cancer. This conceptual framework was organized in to three dimensions (the intrapersonal dimension, the significant-other and context related dimension, the transcendental dimension). Initially 59 items were adopted. 2) These items were analyzed through the index of content validity(CVI) and 53 items were selected which met more than 80% on the CVI. 3) The pretest was carried out with 87 patients with cancer. After the pretest results were analyzed by item analysis, 44 items were selected. A second test of content validity was conducted and 6 items were eliminated considering the 80% CVI. 4) To test for reliability and validity, data collection was done during the period from January 25, 1999, to February 26, 1999. The subjects for the test were 160 patients with cancer and 185 healthy persons. analysis, item analysis and multitrait-multimethod method to analyze validity. The findings are as follows : 1) The Cronbach's alpha coefficient for internal consistency was .92 for the total 38 items and .79, .82, .85, for the three dimensions in that order. 2) The item analysis was based on the corrected item to total correlation coefficient( .30 or more) and information about the alpha estimate if this item was dropped from the scale. 3) As a result of the initial factor analysis using principal component analysis and varimax rotation, one item was deleted because of factor complexity (indiscriminate factor loadings). In the secondary factor analysis, 7 factors with eigenvalue of more than 1.0 were extracted and these factors explained 56 percents of the total variance. The seven factors were labeled as 'family relationship', 'emotional condition', 'physical discomfort', 'meaning and goal of life', 'contextual stimuli', 'change of body image', 'guilt feelings'. 4) The convergence effect between this instrument and the life satisfaction scale was identified and there was significant positive correlation(r= .52, p= .00). The discriminant validity between this instrument and the depression scale(CES-D) was tested and there was significant negative correlation(r= -.50, p= .00). The instrument for accessing the suffering of patients with cancer developed in this study was identified as a tool with a high degree of reliability and validity. In this sense, this tool can be effectively utilized for assessment in caring for patients with cancer.

An anti-collision system between equipment is essential on a drill floor where multiple moving machines are operated simultaneously. This is to prevent accidents by halting the machines when required, by inspecting possibility of a collision based on the relative position data sent by the equipment. In this paper, we propose a framework for an Anti-Collision System (ACS) by considering expandability of the number of machines and computational speed, to promote development of drilling machines and corresponding ACS software. Each drilling equipment is represented as an object in the software with its own message format, and the message is constructed with serialization/deserialization to manage any additional equipment or data. The data handling process receives the current status of machines from the drilling control network, and relays a collision related message (including bypass signal) back to the machines. A commercial visualization software shows the bounding boxes moving with the equipment and indicates probable collision. It has been determined that the proposed system maintains total execution time below 5ms to process data from the network and relay the information hence, the system has no effect on the machine control systems having 100ms control cycle.
This study was conducted to identify the influences of light-to-nutrients ratio on the zooplankton and phytoplankton community. Various experiment conditions such as HL (high-light and without zooplankton), HLZ (high-light and with zooplankton), LL (low-light and without zooplankton), and LLZ (low-light and with zooplankton) were adjusted. Changes in biomass of phytoplankton species with the incubation time showed a similar tendency in the continuous cultures, but the change of species composition in the continuous cultures was detected. Cyanophyeeae (Phormidium sp.) seems to be affected by the existence of zooplankton. Also, the predominant species were Chlorophyceae (Staurastrum spp., S. dorsidentiferum, Coelastrum cambricam, Chlorella sp., Krichnerialla sp.) in a high-light environment and Bacillariophyceae (Melosyra granulata, Synedra acus, Fragilaria crotonensis) in a high-light environment. The estimated mean POC concentration (after twenty days) in a high-light environment was two times higher than that for a low-light environment. P : C ratio of seston component in a low-light environment was higher than that for a high-light environment. Changes in biomass of zooplankton species during the incubation time were higher than that for a high-light environment.
This study is to concentrate vanadium in Jeju groundwater using reverse osmosis processes, and to utilize the concentrate for vanadium water. Groundwater samples were taken from Wahyul, Ayum, and Seogwipo groundwater wells with different in vanadium content each other. Their vanadiuln concentrations were 31.8, 44.5, and 53.0 ppb, respectively. The rejection coefficients of every component in groundwater were increased with the increase of TMP At the TMP of $8 kg_f/cm^2$, the rejection coefficients of vanadium, sodium, potassium, aluminium, iron, and barium were $97.4%{\sim}99.0%,\;97.7%{\sim}97.8%,\;98.0%{\sim}98.3%,\;94.8%{\sim}97.5%,\;88.0%{\sim}96.4.0%$, and $97.9{\sim}98.0%$, respectively. And those of magnesium, calcium, chromium, mauganese, and strontium in three groundwater were more than 99.0% at the same TMP. It was possible that vanadium contents of Wahyul, Ayum and Seogwipo groundwater were concentrated into 58.6, 118.9, and 165.1 ppb, respectively, by 6 stages treatment at the recovery ratio of 15%. And these concentrated water (vanadium water) did not exceed the permissible drinking water standards.
This paper describes a development of efficient stress ECG signal analysis algorithm. The algorithm consists of wavelet adaptive filter(WAF), QRS detector and ST segment detector. The WAF consists of a wavelet transform and an adaptive filter. The wavelet transform decomposed the ECG signal into seven levels using wavelet function for each high frequency bank and low frequency bank. The adaptive filter used the signal of the seventh lowest frequency band among the wavelet transformed signals as primary input. For detection of QRS complex, we made summed signals that are composed of high frequency bands including frequency component of QRS complex and applied the adaptive threshold method changing the amplitude of threshold according to RR interval. For evaluation of the performance of the WAF, we used two baseline wandering elimination filters including a standard filter and a general adaptive filter. WAF showed a better performance than compared filters in the noise elimination characteristics and signal distortion. For evaluation of WAF showed a better performance than compared filters in the noise elimination characteristics and signal distortion. For evaluation of results of QRS complex detection, we compared our algorithm with existing algorithms using MIT/BIH database. Our algorithm using summed signals showed the accuracy of 99.67% and the higher performance of QRS detection than existing algorithms. Also, we used European ST-T database and patient data to evaluate measurement of the ST segment and could measure the ST segment adaptively according to change of heart rate.
Globally branded culture festival in the region as a key component to the originality and distinction and with local residents and visitors to share experience and has succeeded in branding through Mind. Thus the creation of storytelling festivals. Sensitivity of the festival right direction and in an era of paradigm key drivers of the local economy, such as image enhancement, and building long-term regional development and differentiation based on quality of life by creating a local culture can improve will Region's cultural and economic areas, the most important resource for the success of the festival is uniformly short-term planning and configuration, tube-driven operating as a one-sided non-participation. Sharing. Communication with an emphasis on the application of storytelling that is essential is considered.
Crude aqueous extracts from dried leaves, stems, roots, and flowers from both field grown and greenhouse grown alfalfa plants inhibited alfalfa seed germination and seedling growth. The degree of inhibition was greater in the field grown plant extracts. Flowers extract of field grown plant most inhibited alfalfa germination and seedling growth. In the concentration study, the highest concentration of extract (9.0%, w/v) significantly inhibited total alfalfa seed germination by 50% as compared to control. In partitioning study using pot hydroponic culture of plant biomass into leaves, stems, root, LAR products of LWR and SLA exhibited significant variation among four species. This result support that the inhibitory effect of autotoxic substances presenting in alfalfa tissue may be possible interference with the patitioning of biomass into leaf component relative to the total biomass produced by the alfalfa plant. Toxicity of extract was not reduced by adding activated charcoal, Dowex-50W, amberlite to the extract. Toxic substances existing in most plant tissues but mainly above ground foliage are water soluble and stable and may persist in old alfalfa fields. Thus, it is recommended to remove as much as possible of the above growth parts, especially vegetative stage, before one tries to re-establish alfalfa in former field of alfalfa.

As the demand for natural gas increases with industrial development, the supply of natural gas is expected to become unstable with a shortage of imported natural gas. It is hence necessary to meet this demand by introducing and developing various types of natural gas, such as pipeline natural gas (PNG) and substituted natural gas (SNG), in addition to liquefied natural gas (LNG). The components included in PNG as well as their concentrations must be measured accurately, and a standard gas should be developed to accurately measure hydrocarbons ($C_6-C_{10}$), which are trace components included in natural gas. The components in the primary standard gas mixtures (PSMs) developed in the present study were hexane, heptane, octane, nonane, and decane with concentrations of $10-30{\mu}mol/mol$ with methane as the balance gas. Standard hydrocarbon ($C_6-C_{10}$) gas mixtures were prepared in aluminum cylinders by a gravimetric method with traceability following ISO 6142 with raw material gases, for which the purity of each component was analyzed completely. The prepared standard gas mixtures were analyzed by to evaluate the preparation consistency between the standard gas mixtures, the adsorbability of the cylinders, the variation of the stability, and the uncertainty. The results showed that aluminum cylinders have little adsorptive loss on their internal surfaces with excellent long-term stability. The developed standard gas mixture, containing hexane, heptane, octane, nonane, and decane with concentrations of $10-30{\mu}mol/mol$, showed an uncertainty in a range of 0.79 % - 1.63 %.
The key to developing software with the lowest cost and highest quality is to implement or fit the software development process into a given environment. Generally, applying commercial or standard software development processes on a specific project can cause too much overhead if there is no effort to customize the given generic processes. Even though the customizing activities are done before starting the project, these activities are thoroughly dependent on the process engineers who have abundant experience and knowledge with tailoring processes. Owing to this dependence on human knowledge, it has been very difficult to explain the rationale for the results of process tailoring and it takes a long time to get the customized process that is applicable. Hence, we suggest a process tailoring method which adopts the artificial neural network based teaming theory to reduce the time consumed by process tailoring. Furthermore, we suggest the feedback loop mechanism to get higher accuracy in the neural network designed for the process tailoring. It can be done by reusing the process tailoring data results and determining its appropriateness level as sample data to the neural network. We proved the effectiveness of our process tailoring method through case studies using real historical data, which yielded abundant process tailoring results as sample data.
Stable cell preservation is an essential factor in the regenerative medicine for cell therapies and transplantation of biologic materials. In this study, we studied to provide more stable hypothermic preservation by protection of cell damage during the preservation at $4^{\circ}C$. The result of searching for key components that have excellent efficacy in hypothermic preservation of cells, we have identified the fact that the hypothermic preservation adding protein hydrolysates such as yeast hydrolysate is far superior to others. All protein hydrolysates that are derived from animal, plant and microbe sources have superior efficacy, especially the peptides which have molecular weights under 10 kDa have the best efficacy among the components of protein hydrolysate. The protein hydrolysates prevented the decrease of ATP level in the cells caused by hypothermic environment and they inhibited the generation of ROS. Adding antioxidants and control agents of osmotic pressure were showed to have more superior efficacy in hypothermic preservation. Finally, KUL261 solution (DMEM/F12 1 : 1 medium, yeastolate 1%, $\alpha$-tocopherol $100{\mu}M$, dextran 2.5%), the preservation solution developed in this study, showed the best efficacy in both cell viability and cell growth more than other conventional preservation solutions. In conclusion, the improved hypothermic preservation solution that contains the protein hydrolysates as a key component provide the best preservation efficacy. It provides better efficacy than other preservation solutions and will contribute to both the development of regenerative medicine and global commercialization in this therapeutic field.
