A Study on Development of the Korea Agricultural Population Forecasting Model and long-term Prediction (농가인구예측 모형 개발 및 중장기 전망)

  • A population decline in rural area is correlated with the number of household, with agricultural workers, as a result, affects the farming income. Agricultural population is a foundation of agriculture structure. Agricultural population decline influences agricultural policies to be implemented for the future and there is concern about slowdown in productivity. The purpose of this study is to build the ability to use the model and conduct applied analyses of various kinds and to make rational agricultural policies by forecasting and analyzing agricultural population change. Unlike previous studies, which have some assumptions about the giving-up farming rate (GFR) of the key points on the agricultural population model or, After estimating only one equation with respect to the total population, and then distribute by sex and age. This study was conducted to investigate the reactions are different from the farmhouse, gender, age by estimating giving-up farming rate (GFR) equations each gender & age. Through this research, we can find that Farm Population changes of the simulation can be performed for a variety of agricultural policy in conjunction with existing agricultural simulation models as well.

Studies on design of forest road nets for mechanized yarding operations - Classification of forest site - (기계화(機械化) 집재작업(集材作業)을 위한 노망(路網)의 정비 - 임지(林地)의 분류(分類) -)

  • The purpose of this study is to offer detailed topographic information for substantially selecting the yarding machine for mechanized yarding operations, classifying the forest site by cluster analysis and principal component analysis, and investigating simultaneously the variables which give much influence on the classification of forest site in forestry build-up region (21, 477ha) of Chunchon Gun, Kwangweon Do. Ten topographic variables were used for the analysis. The results of study were as follows : 1) Gosung region (2, 252ha) was classified into hilly terrain (57%) and steep terrain (43%) and required the tractor prehauling system for the former one and the medium skyline system for latter one, respectively. 2) 65% of Gajung region (2,306ha) and 67% of Kwangpan region (2, 627ha) were classified into steep terrain fitted for the medium skyline system and the portion of both region showed the hilly terrain for the tractor prehauling system. 3) Jiam region (4, 591ha), consisted only of steep terrain, required the medium skyline system. 4) Gunja region (3, 400ha), Sudong region (3, 984ha) and Sinpo region (2, 340ha) were classified into steep terrain, requiring the medium skyline system, with 85%, 75%, and 75%, respectively.

Liver Size Measurement Method by Ultrasonography and Reference Range based on Normal Adult Physique Index (초음파검사에 의한 간 크기 측정방법 및 정상 성인의 체격지수별 참조범위)

  • Liver size is an important component in the diagnosis and follow-up of diffuse liver disease when testing for liver disease using ultrasonography. However, difficulties lies in determining the presence of hepatomegaly and liver atrophy because the method used for measuring liver size differs from one examiner to another and there is no relevant standard based on body build. The present study aims to propose a more objective method for liver size measurement and a reference range based on body build. A total of 260 normal adults (130 males, 130 females) participated in the study. Ultrasonography was performed in all participants to measure the size of the right lobe, left lobe, quadrate lobe, and caudate lobe of liver. Based on Physique Index(PI), a value derived from multiplying weight(kg) by height($m^2$), size of physique was divided into three groups including Group I with PI<150, Group II with $150{\leq}PI{\leq}250$, and Group III with PI>250. Thus, mean liver size by PI and a reference range with 95% reliability were suggested. The superoinferior diameter of right lobe was $12.34{\pm}1.18cm$ in males and $11.07{\pm}0.93cm$ in females, and its reference range was 10.64~11.0cm for Group I, 11.78~12.12cm for Group II, and 13.02~13.84cm for Group III. The anteroposterior diameter(T) of left lobe was $5.93{\pm}1.09cm$ in males and $5.18{\pm}0.99cm$ in females, and its reference range was 4.77~5.17cm for Group I, 5.49~5.79cm for Group II, and 6.68~7.44cm for Group III. The transverse diameter was $3.51{\pm}0.60cm$ in male participants and $3.42{\pm}0.49cm$ in female participants and its reference range was 3.29~3.51cm for Group I, 3.36~3.55cm for Group II, and 3.52~4.0cm for Group III. The caudate lobe index was $11.65{\pm}2.88cm^2$ in males and $9.62{\pm}2.18cm^2$ in females and its reference range was $8.83{\sim}9.75cm^2$ for Group I, $10.62{\sim}11.47cm^2$ for Group II, and $11.89{\sim}14.26cm^2$ for Group III. As a basic measurement method of liver size, the present study suggests measuring the superoinferior diameter for right liver lobe, the anteroposterior diameter for left liver lobe, the transverse diameter for quadrate lobe, and the caudate lobe index for caudate lobe. It is expected that this method along with its relevant reference range can be used as useful indicators in determining hepatomegaly and liver atrophy upon the diagnosis and follow-up testing of diffuse liver disease.

A Study on Nobel SUNBLOCK Materials Containing an Active Ingredient Extracted from Symbiodinium (심바이오디니움으로부터 추출된 유효성분을 함유하는 신규 SUN BLOCK 물질에 관한 연구)

  • Symbiodinium is a dinoflagellate genus that coexists with coral reefs and is known to provide ultraviolet (UV) protection in nature through the synthesis of mycosporin-like amino acids (MAA). In order to develop a natural and ecofriendly sunblock for use in summer resorts, the possibility of using a Symbiodinium microbiome extract or an MAA was investigated. Two sunblocks, one containing 7% Symbiodinium extract and the other containing MAA were prepared to be tested on hairless mice and human skin. In this clinical study, the sun protection factor (SPF) and Protection factor of UV A (PFA) values of the sunblock containing either Symbiodinium extract or MAA were determined. The SPF values of the sunblock containing Symbiodinium extract and MAA were 10.43 and 10.83, respectively, and the PFA values were 3.42 and 3.39, respectively. Based on their PFA values of ≥2, the UV A protection can be graded as PA+ (low) for both the sunblocks. In addition, the UV-blocking extract of Symbiodinium has a low phototoxicity and cytotoxicity, reducing the possibility of a heavy feeling to the skin or a foreign-body sensation caused by residue build-up. The low toxicity feature of the major sunblock component will also prevent side effects, such as allergic reactions. Although Symbiodinium extract or MAA alone do not provide effectiveprotection against UV irradiation, their protection capacity can be complemented by the addition of inorganic UV-protecting compounds.

Synthesis and Characterization of a New Photoconducting Poly(siloxane) Having Pendant Diphenylhydrazone for Photorefractive Applications

  • A new photoconducting polymer, diphenyl hydrazone-substituted polysiloxane, was successfully synthesized by the hydrosilylation method and characterized by FT-IR, $^1$H-NMR, and $^{29}$ Si-NMR spectroscopy. The glass transition temperature (T$_{g}$) of the polysiloxane having pendant diphenyl hydrazone was ca. 62 $^{\circ}C$, which enabled a component of a low-T$_{g}$ photorefractive material to be prepared without the addition of any plasticizers. This polysiloxane, with 1 wt% of $C_{60}$ dopant, showed a high photoconductivity (2.8 ${\times}$ 10$^{-12}$ S/cm at 70 V/${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) at 633 nm, which is necessary for fast build-up of the space-charge field. A photorefractive composite was prepared by adding a nonlinear optical chromophore, 2-{3-[2-(dibutylamino)-1-ethenyl]-5,5-dimethyl-2-cyclohexenylidene} malononitrile, into the photoconducting polysiloxane together with $C_{60}$ . This composite shows a large orientation birefringence ($\Delta$n = 2.6 ${\times}$ 10$^{-3}$ at 50 V/${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) and a high diffraction efficiency of 81 % at an electric field of 40 V /${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$.textrm}{m}$.EX>.

Flight Range and Time Analysis for Classification of eVTOL PAV (eVTOL PAV 유형별 항속거리 및 항속시간 분석)

  • To overcome ground congestions due to growing number of cars, a lot of companies have proposed personal aerial vehicle (PAV). Among PAV, electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircrafts capable of vertical take-off and landing with electric power are drawing attention, and their configurations vary from multicopters to tilt ducted fans. This study tries to analyze the characteristics of each eVTOL design configurations. Parasite drag was calculated using component build up method for Vahana, Aurora, Volocopter representing each eVTOL PAV type of tilt-wing, compound, and multicopter. Wetted area and induced drag was calculated using OpenVSP and XFLR5 that are aircraft design and aerodynamic analysis software. The batteries used in the eVTOL PAV was assumed as Tesla 2170 batteries and flight ranges were calculated. Also, energy consumption and maximum flight time for the given mission profile including take-off and landing, cruising segments were compared for each eVTOL.

REAL-TIME CORROSION CONTROL SYSTEM FOR CATHODIC PROTECTION OF BURIED PIPES FOR NUCLEAR POWER PLANT

  • Since the operation period of nuclear power plants has increased, the degradation of buried pipes gradually increases and recently it seems to be one of the emerging issues. Maintenance on buried pipes needs high quality of management system because outer surface of buried pipe contacts the various soils but inner surface reacts with various electrolytes of fluid. In the USA, USNRC and EPRI have tried to manage the degradation of buried pipes. However, there is little knowledge about the inspection procedure, test and manage program in the domestic nuclear power plants. This paper focuses on the development and build-up of real-time monitoring and control system of buried pipes. Pipes to be tested are tape-coated carbon steel pipe for primary component cooling water system, asphalt-coated cast iron pipe for fire protection system, and pre-stressed concrete cylinder pipe for sea water cooling system. A control system for cathodic protection was installed on each test pipe which has been monitored and controlled. For the calculation of protection range and optimization, computer simulation was performed using COMSOL Multiphysics (Altsoft co.).

  • This aims of this study is to analyse the correlationship between traffic accident s and traffic characteristic variables in at-grade intersections of urban area, to build up an accident forecasting model and to propose an evaluation method of hazardous at-grade intersections. The accident forecasting model is formulated by the use of residual indexes that is selected by principal component analysis and its statistical significance is tested by step-wise regression analysis. Effective countermeasures for safety can be established on the basis of identifying high accident intersections, because the validity of this model was examined and found to coincide with real world situations.

  • Counter-diffusion of coronene desorbed from alumina with addition of tetra-phenylporphine was studied by spectrophotometry. The counter-diffusion processes of adsorbing and desorbing materials in liquid phase were simulated by counter-diffusion model based on Fritz's binary component isotherm under an assumption of equimass diffusion. The counter-diffusivities of desorbed coronene with addition of tetra-phenylporphine were as ${\sim}10^{-15}m^2/sec$ and that of adsorbed tetra-phenylporphine as ${\sim}10^{-11}m^2/sec$. The counter-diffusivity of coronene determined from desorption process was smaller by ${\sim}10^5$ times than the diffusivity determined from adsorption process of a single species. The reduction of the determined counter-diffusivity of coronene in desorption process was explained by the cross of diffusion fluxes and build-up of high gradient of coronene in pore.

Simplified Dynamic Modeling of Small-Scaled Rotorcraft (축소형 회전익 항공기의 간략화된 동적 모델링)

  • It is prerequisite that we have to fomulate the nonlinear mathematical modeling to design the guidance and control system of rotorcraft-based unmanned aerial vehicle using a small-scaled commercial helicopter. The small-scaled helicopters are very different from the full-scale helicopters in dynamic behavior such as high rotation speed and high frequency dynamic characteristics. In this paper, the formulation of the mathematical model of the small-scaled helicopter to minimize the complexity is presented by component and source build-up approach. It is linearized at the trim condition of hovering and forward flight and analyzed the flight modes. The results of this approach have general trends but a little difference. To verify this approach, it is necessary to compare this theoretical model with experimental results by system identification using flight test as a next research topic.
