It was reported that the semi-solid forming process has many advantages over the conventional forming process, such as a long die life, good mechanical properties and energy savings. It is very important, however, to control liquid segregation to gain mechanical property improvement of materials. During forming process, rheology material has complex characteristics, thixotropic behavior. Also, difference of velocity between solid and liquid in the semi-solid state material makes a liquid segregation and specific stress variation. Therefore, it is difficult for a numerical simulation of the rheology process to be performed. General plastic or fluid dynamic analysis is not suitable for the behavior of rheology material. The behavior and stress of solid particle in the rheology material during forging process is affected by viscosity, temperature and solid fraction. In this study, compression experiments of aluminum alloy were performed under each other tool shape which is rectangle shape(square array), rectangle shape(hexagonal array), and free shape tool. In addition, the dynamics behavior compare with Okano equation to power law model which is viscosity equation.
Changes in viscosity and dynamic theological properties of Job's-tears were measured by Bohlin dynamic tester as a function of moisture, and measurement was performed within a linear viscoelastic range. The result of the shear stress vs shear rate of Job's-tears at different moisture contents $(50{\sim}75%)$ was applied to mathematical models and Herschel-Bulkley model showed the highest correlation coefficient. Lower moisture content (55%) produced higher yield stress and consistency index, but lower flow behavior index, whereas higher moisture content showed reverse effects. Job's-tears with $50{\sim}70%$ moisture contents showed a higher storage modulus (G') than loss modulus (G') at all frequencies, showing a higher concentrated polymer characteristics. However, higher moisture content (>75%) showed crossover point between G' and G', and frequency dependency. As the moisture content was increased, the amount of viscoelastic properties such as G', G', complex viscosity decreased during heating, and initial temperature and miximum value of viscoelastic properties shifted to higher temperatures, representing the moisture-dependence of Job's-tears upon theological properties.

The objective of this study was to investigate the rheological and pasting properties of potato flour dispersions at different concentrations (3, 4, 5, 6, and 7%, w/w). A potato cultivar 'Goun', used in this study, was developed by Highland Agriculture Research Center, RDA. Potato flour dispersions showed shear-thinning behaviors (n=0.44~0.51) at $25^{\circ}C$. Apparent viscosity (${\eta}_{a,100}$), consistency index (K), and yield stress (${\sigma}_{oc}$) significantly increased with an increase in potato flour concentration. Storage modulus (G') and loss modulus (G") significantly increased, whereas complex viscosity (${\eta}^*$) was significantly reduced with increasing frequency (${\omega}$) from 0.63 to 63.8 rad/s. Magnitudes of G' and G" were significantly increased with elevation of potato flour concentration. G' values were considerably greater than G" over the entire range of frequency (${\omega}$) with a high dependence on ${\omega}$. Cox-Merz rule was not applicable to potato flour dispersions. Rapid Visco Analyzer data showed that peak viscosity, trough viscosity, breakdown viscosity, final viscosity, and set back viscosity of samples significantly increased with an increase in potato flour concentration.
The effects of the transreactions on the rheological properties have been found in the poly(ethylene 2, 6-naphthalate) (PEN) and poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET) blends. The rheological properties were very much dependent on the blend compositions, which, in turn, were related to extent of the reactions. In particular, a blend with 50/50 wt% composition exhibits an unusual and remarkable decrease in complex viscosity and it may be related to the randomness of the copolymer structure through transreactions. It has been identified by investigating the extent of transreactions and block length of the copolymer from the (ethylene 2, 6-naphthalate) (EN) and (ethylene terephthalate) (ET) units from $^1{H}$ n.m.r. spectra.

Viscosities of $LaCl_3$-CsCl binary melts were measured by the capillary method over the range of their liquidus temperatures to about 1200 K. The cell constant were determined by using pure water. The results obtained are summerized as follows: Viscosities of melted $LaCl_3$ were decreased with the content of CsCl for all over the composition range of binary melts. Composition versus viscosity relation for the binary melt showed a non-linear relationship from the additivity line and the deviations showed a maximum value at about 60 mol% CsCl. This suggest the existence of the complex ion of $LaCl_4{^-}$ in the melt. Activation energy for the viscous flow of the binary melts decreased monotonously with the increasing content of CsCl after a few increasement till 40 mol% CsCl. All of these results were the resemble with the viscosities of $LaCl_3$-NaCl binary melts.
Recently, the use of high-tech ceramic parts in functional electronic parts, automobile parts and semiconductor equipment parts is increasing. These ceramics materials are required to have high reproducibility, reliability, large size and complex shapes. The researchers initiated the work to develop a new shaping method called gel casting, which allows high performance ceramic materials with a complex shape to be produced. The manufacturing process parameters of gel casting include uniform mixing of the initiator, bubble removal, and slip injection. In this study, we analyzed the dispersion and gelation characteristics according to the change in the additive content of the alumina slurry in the gel casting process. The alumina slurry for gel casting was prepared by mixing a solvent, a monomer and a dispersant through a ball mill. Alumina powder and a gelation initiator were added to the mixed solution, and ball milling was performed for 24 hours. A viscosity of 6,435 cps and a stable zeta potential value were obtained under the conditions of alumina powder content of 55 vol% and dispersant 2.0 wt%. After curing for 12 hours by adding aps 0.1wt%, TEMED 0.2wt%, and Monomer 3, 5wt%, it was possible to separate from the molding cup, confirming that the gelation was completed.
The characterization of the complexation reaction of PVA and Al(III) ion at different pH and the sint-ering behaviour of UO2 containing the PVA-Al(III) complexes were investigated. Compared with pure PVA powder the complexed PVA-Al(III) powder had compacter shape and lower decomposition temperature The major phase of PVA-Al(III) complex decomposed at 90$0^{\circ}C$ was $\alpha$-Al2O3 The PVA-Al(III) complex formed at pH 9 had the lowest relative viscosity the highest Al content of 36% and the smallest particle size of 19${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ While the pure UO2 pellet appeared with bimodal one. The grain size of the pure UO2 pellet was 7${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ but that of the PVA-Al(III) complex added UO2 pellet was increased up to 36${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ The largest grain size was ob-tained when the PVA-Al(III) complex formed at pH9 was added and the PVA-Al(III) complex formed at pH 11 had the greatest effect on increasing pore size.

Curtain stability without curtain contraction is critical for a successful operation in curtain coating, and this can be influenced by the change in particle dynamics and rheological properties of coating colors. In this study, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) were added to control the rheology of GCC based curtain coating colors. Surface tension was increased slightly with increasing content of cobinder. Shear-thinning of viscosity was more pronounced for the CMC containing GCC coating colors. Complex modulus decreased when small amount of PVA was used as a cobinder, but it increased in other coating colors. Extensional viscosity was increased with increasing of the cobinder content, but CMC was more effective. Results indicate that pigment interaction with PVA is different from that with CMC. Dispersibility of coating colors was improved due to steric stabilization when small amounts of PVA was used, but flocculation occurred by bridging when the amount of PVA was increased. Dispersibility of coating colors was improved when small amount of CMC was added, while flocculation was observed by depletion effect when the concentration of CMC was increased in coating colors. Addition of cobinders at proper levels gave positive effects both in rheological properties and curtain stability. On the other hand, excessive amount of cobinders caused particle flocculation and this resulted in rheological and curtain stablity problems.

Calcium phosphate cement (CPC) has been used as bone substitute successfully due to good biocompatibility and osteoconductivity. One of the important mechanical characteristics of CPC is flowablility, which can be evaluated by measuring rheological parameters. However, there have been few studies that measured rheological properties of CPC. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the rheological properties of CPC paste mixed with 2 kinds of setting solutions, 2% hydroxyprophyl methylcellulose (HPMC) and 35% polyacrylic acid (PAA). The CPC used was dicalcium phosphate dihydrate (DCPD). Rheological properties of CPC paste were measured using rheometer. The statistical analysis was carried out with Mann-whitney test with Bonferronis collection. CPC with both setting solutions showed shear thinning behavior. CPC with 2% HPMC showed signigicantly higher complex viscosity than CPC with 35% PAA(p<0.05).
Using a Rheometries Fluids Spectrometer (RFS II), the dynamic viscoelastic properties of aqueous poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) solutions in small amplitude oscillatory shear flow fields have been measured over a wide range of angular frequencies. The angular frequency dependence of the storage and loss moduli at various molecular weights and concentrations was reported in detail, and the result was interpreted using the concept of a Deborah number De. In addition, the experimentally determined critical angular frequency at which the storage and loss moduli become equivalent was compared with the calculated characteristic time (or its inverse value), and their physical significance in analyzing the dynamic viscoelastic behavior was discussed. Finally, the relationship between steady shear flow and dynamic viscoelstic properties was examined by evaluating the applicability of some proposed models that describe the correlations between steady flow viscosity and dynamic viscosity, dynamic fluidity, and complex viscosity. Main results obtained from this study can be summarized as follows: (1) At lower angular frequencies where De<1, the loss modulus is larger than the storage modulus. However, such a relation between the two moduli is reversed at higher angular frequencies where De>l, indicating that the elastic behavior becomes dominant to the viscous behavior at frequency range higher than a critical angular frequency. (2) A critical angular frequency is decreased as an increase in concentration and/or molecular weight. Both the viscous and elastic properties show a stronger dependence on the molecular weight than on the concentration. (3) A characteristic time is increased with increasing concentration and/or molecular weight. The power-law relationship holds between the inverse value of a characteristic time and a critical angular frequency. (4) Among the previously proposed models, the Cox-Merz rule implying the equivalence between the steady flow viscosity and the magnitude of the complex viscosity has the best validity. The Osaki relation can be regarded to some extent as a suitable model. However, the DeWitt, Pao and HusebyBlyler models are not applicable to describe the correlations between steady shear flow and dynamic viscoelastic properties.
