The purpose of this study was to investigate parental emotion regulation and children's understanding of emotional display rules. 31 boys and 29 girls of the first and fourth grades and their parents were selected for the subject. Sixty children were interviewed on eight interpersonal conflict situations and parent completed the PACES(Saarni, 1985) separately. The main results of this study were as follows. 1) Children's understanding of emotional display rules increased with age. 2) Children's primary justification for using emotional display rules was self-protective one. Girls used more often prosocial justification than boys. 3) Parental emotion regulation was significantly different between the two contexts: a child might cause another person substantial emotional distress and a child didn't cause another person substantial emotional distress. 4) Parental regulation was differed by children's age in the context that the child might cause another person substantial emotional distress. 5) Father's regulation was differed by children's sex in the context that the child might cause another person substantial emotional distress. 6) Maternal regulation was positively correlated to the level of emotional display rules in the context that the child might cause another person substantial emotional distress.
The purpose of this study was to investigate familism and materialism of the Korean-Americans. A total 370 subject completed structured questionnaires. Major conclusions of this study are as follows: First, the Korean-Americans are found to support familism below average. But subgroup differences (according to age, for example) were discovered. Second, the Korean-Americans are found not to support materialism. But, like familism, subgroup differences by several variables were discovered. Third, among the Korean-Americans, the urban Koreans and the rural Koreans, the rural Koreans are found to support familism most strongly. But theres no difference between the Korean-Americans and the urban Koreans. The Korean-Americans are found not to support materialism.
This study was performed to describe the perceptions of the family mealtime environment in preadolescents, and to determine the frequency of family meals and whether the mealtime environment is associated with nutrient intake. Surveys and 24-hour dietary recalls were completed by 197 children, ages 11 to 12, in elementary schools in the Incheon area. We assessed family meal frequency and the perceptions of the family meal environment with respect to priority, atmosphere, and family mealtime structure. The subject response frequencies and correlations among perceptions of the family mealtime environment, as well as the frequency of family meals and nutrient intake, were analyzed. Having a greater priority for family meals was associated with an increased frequency of family mealtimes. An enjoyable family meal environment was positively correlated with increases in nutrient intake. From the results of this study, we suggest that consideration be placed on opportunities to design nutrition promotion strategies that target families and their children, with respect to promoting family mealtimes and overcoming the barriers to having family meals.

Hydrodynamic pressure fluctuations and their roles on the design of hydraulic structures has been the subject of many investigations. The studies showed that turbulent pressure fluctuations may cause serious damages to hydraulic structures. In case of high velocity flows, separation of flow from the boundary also causes the local pressure to drop and as a result, the resultant pressure fluctuations may trigger cavitation. Sever hydrodynamic pressures are also associated with the vibration of structures. Therefore, in this work, experiments were performed to determine the intensity of pressure fluctuations and their distribution along the bed of a ski-jump flip bucket. Experiments were completed on a physical model at the Institution of Water Research of Iran. The results consist of the statistical characteristics of pressure fluctuations, its maximum, minimum, and r.m.s values along the bed of the bucket. The spectral analysis of pressure fluctuations which is useful for the instability analysis of such structures is also provided. It is hoped that the present results will help the designer of such structures.
This study examined academic achievement of children in female marriage immigrant families (MIF) and children in general families (GF). Subjects were 78 MIF and 82 GF children recruited from Chungcheong and Jeolla provinces. Academic achievement was determined by questionnaires completed by their teachers; intelligence was measured with standardized intelligence tests. Data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA and ANCOVA. Results showed that (1) academic achievement of MIF children was lower than that of GF children in overall academic achievement and individual subject achievement. (2) The difference in academic achievement between the two groups remained after controlling for intelligence. Results of this study illustrate the urgent need for supportive policy to enhance the academic achievement of MIF children.
This study examined the effects of mother's parenting and children's reflection on the development of self-control in the resistance to temptation situation. Subjects were 85 3-, 4- and 5- year old children attending educational preschool and their mothers. Each subject's activities were videotaped for 10 minutes in the experimental settings. Children's reflection was evaluated by Kagan's Matching Familiar Figures Test(MFF). Mothers completed a parenting questionnaire. Results showed no age or sex difference in resistance to temptation. Task patience increased with age, and girls had more task patience than boys. Children's resistance to temptation and task patience correlated with children's reflection and mother's parenting. Children's MFF latency and mother's permissiveness-nonintervention predicted children's resistance to temptation. Children's MFF errors, sex, age and mother's warmth-acceptance predicted children's task patience.

The inventory problem of the repairable items is modeled as a queueing network for the purpose of determining the number of spares in a multi-echelon repair system subject to stochastic failure. In this paper, we are considering a finite number of repairman at each base and the depot. After repair job has completed, the repaired items are returned to the base where they have originated. For the system, we identify the distribution of the total number of failed items which belongs to a base and develope a method to find spare inventory levels of the repairable items at each base to satisfy a specified minimum fill rate.
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to examine the sexual behavior and awareness of sexually transmitted diseases (STD) among the elderly. Methods: Subjects were 599 elderly living in a metropolitan area who completed a structured questionnaire. Data collection was from September 6, 2011 to January 17, 2012. The data were analyzed by using percentage and ${\chi}^2$-test. Results: Approximately 25% of the subjects reported a sexual life. Age, gender, education, family type, presence and health of spouse, health state of the subject, past occupation, dwelling pattern, and economic state made statistically significant difference in sexual behavior. Fifty five percent of the respondents reported no knowledge of STD. Factors such as age, gender, education, presence of spouse, and past occupation were statistically significant in terms of awareness of STD. Conclusion: Age, education, and presence of spouse should be factored in to understand the sexuality of the elderly as well as to develop sexuality counseling programs that provide adequate information for each individual.
Present, the cooling method of using a phase-change heat transfer such as immersed type, heat pipe etc is applied in cooling of high-capacity power semiconductors of the main power system for the high speed train with the concentrated traction. In order to apply these phase-change cooling system to the high speed EMU to be developed, needed are technological researches of consideration of installing space, air passage, light weight material and miniaturization. Although this research establishes design specifications through theoretical analysis and computational analysis from the basic design process of the cooling system of the propulsion system for the high-speed EMU, when details design is completed, present improvement subject and optimum design before manufacturing the prototype of the cooling system on the basis of analysis results. And then, carried out will be the performance tests through prototype manufacture and reliability estimation by components of cooling system.
This study investigated relationships between the after-school extracurricular activities of kindergarten children and their daily stress. The subjects were 380 kindergarten children; they were interviewed regarding the degree of their daily stress. Their mothers completed questionnaires on the children's extracurricular after-school activities. Statistical analysis of the data showed that kindergarteners who participated in extracurricular after-school activities showed a higher degree of daily stress than children who did not. It was concluded that developmental appropriateness of extracurricular activities should be considered, and educational curricular and strategies to help children cope with daily stress due to excessive extracurricular activities should be prepared. Further research on this subject is recommended.
