  • Horizontal cooperation is seen as an effective way to raise a competitive advantage in logistics and transportation. However, there are many logistics enterprises still operating individually instead of cooperating. This research aims to investigate the factors influencing the decision of horizontal cooperation by surveying a large sample of Vietnamese logistics companies. This study employs 161 logistics companies to examine correlations between potential factors and horizontal collaboration. The structural equation model (SEM) was used to test the conceptual model and the relationships among variables. The findings revealed that information sharing was the most important predictor of 161 supply chain providers' horizontal collaboration decisions, which resulted in increased profitability or service quality. Besides, trust in partners was found to be positively related to the degree of horizontal cooperation among logistics companies. Finally, the finding of this research is that reputation had a positive effect on the strategy of horizontal cooperation. Our findings suggest that SME managers should be concerened about their information sharing, their reputation as well as their trust in partners if they would be invited in cooperation with another firm to increase service quality, performance, and competitive advantage.

  • Intellectual capital is becoming a crucial factor for a firm's long-term profit and performance in the knowledge-based economy as more firms identify their core competence as invisible assets rather than visible assets (Itami, 1987). The company was encouraged to measure financial and non-financial factors, including the customer perspective groups, the internal business process, learning and growth perspective, then to link all these measurements in a coherent system. This paper seeks to investigate the influence of intellectual capital elements on company performance, as well as the relationship among intellectual capital elements from a cause-effect perspective. Resource-Based View (RBV) considers intellectual capital as resource and capability to sustain competitive advantage on company performance. The partial least squares approach is used to examine listed banks in Indonesia Stock Exchange for year 2017-2019. Results show that human capital directly has positive influences on innovation capital, customer capital, and process capital. Innovation capital has positive, but less significant influence on process capital, which in turn influences customer capital. Human capital and process capital also influence customer capital. Finally, customer capital contributes to performance. This study helps management to identify relevant intellectual capital elements as competitive advantage and their indicators to enhance business performance.

Based on a SWOT analysis method, this study finds that the Anhui Pilot Free Trade Zone has a set of comparative advantages, including location advantage, rich resources, industrial transformation and new industries, technological innovation capabilities, new patterns for development, and policy support. In recent years, by leveraging its key resources, Anhui Province has been committed to developing an open economy. Furthermore, its economic vitality has increased significantly under preferential policies such as the Belt and Road Initiative, the China-Europe International Freight Shuttle, and the Yangtze River Economic Belt Development Plan. As a result, the total foreign trade has continued to grow. The findings of this study highlight that the comparative advantages are of great significance to the development of the Anhui Pilot Free Trade Zone, which helped expand the scope and openness of the regional economy and foreign investment. However, to achieve the development objectives of the Anhui Pilot Free Trade Zone as planned, these comparative advantages must be developed and converted into a set of sustainable competitive advantages for the regional economy. Therefore, a few development suggestions are put forward.

There are tendencies to occupy competitive advantage in high position in price competition and in quality etc. But, it is not easy to keep it even if price has been cheap recently. Also, it is hard to be competitive advantage element more, because production smoothing was made much even if there is in quality. To keep or improve present competitive power, the due date rate is becoming importance. Several techniques with MRP, MRP II appeared in the 1970s by method to improve the these due date rate. These techniques have some defects to due date. Therefore, in this paper, MRP wishes to receive the due date rate that is improved more by supplementing having these defect by DBR of TOC.

  • Purpose: Establishing a competitive advantage in the aviation market is essential as the competition among domestic airlines intensifies. Therefore, this study examined the management strategies of both large domestic airlines and low-cost airlines. Research design, data, and methodology: This study classified domestic airlines into Full Service Airlines (FSA) and Low Cost Carriers (LCC), examined each airline's current status and characteristics, and conducted case analyses of FSA and LCC based on Porter's generic competitive strategy. Results: The analyses determined that LCC primarily implemented a cost-advantage strategy, and FSA implemented a differentiation strategy. However, as competition intensified, FSA pursued cost-advantage strategies while establishing LCC through subsidiaries. There are various specific cost reduction methods, including service simplicity, scalability, high utilization, low landing fees, low-cost unit, and point-to-point flight strategies. Conclusions: LCCs are focusing on cost advantage strategies that reduce costs; however, the FSA also runs special price events that are as good as LCCs and are comparable to LCCs on some routes. Furthermore, LCC has recently expanded its mid- and long-distance routes, making competition for long-distance routes with major airlines unavoidable.

  • This paper examines the export structure of Gwangyang Port and evaluates its comparative advantage from 2005 to 2016 using the Comparative Advantage by Countries (CAC) index. It is found that: (i) Gwangyang Port has a comparative advantage in HS 39 and HS 28, an unstable comparative advantage in HS 29 but a comparative disadvantage in HS 72; and (ii) 4 items have the common features of losing their comparative advantage. Constant market share analysis allows one to evaluate why the exports of one region may grow faster than world exports. This consists of the commodity composition effect, the scale effect, and the competitive effect. Constant market share analysis shows that the commodity composition effect influences exports negatively while the scale effect does exports positively. Shift-share analysis can help evaluate the change in a region's performance relative to the nation over a given period of time. The result indicates that HS 28 has not only favorable industrial mix effect but high competitive share effect, while HS 29 has unfavorable industrial mix effect as well as low competitive share effect. This paper also reveals that industrial mix effect of HS 39 is positive but its competitive share effect is negative, whereas the former is negative but the latter is positive in case of HS 29.

  • The purpose of this study is to empirically verify the relationship between supply chain flexibility(process flexibility and logistics flexibility) and competitive advantage strategy(cost, quality, lead time). To accomplish these purposes, the relationships among supply chain flexibility(process, logistics), competitive advantage strategy(cost, quality, lead time) were modeled based on the studies conducted in the various areas. In order to collect the related data the questionaries of 500 were distributed to the employees working at the manufacturing industry in the area of Gumi. The collected data were analyzed with SPSS 18.0 for Windows. This study used the statistical techniques such as descriptive analysis, reliability analysis, factor analysis, correlation analysis, multi regression analysis. The results of the study show that process flexibility had positively significant effect on low cost strategy and high quality strategy and logistic flexibility have positively significant effect on delivery speed strategy. However, it was found that process flexibility did not have the significant effect on delivery speed strategy, and the logistic flexibility did not have the significant effect on low cost and high quality strategy. Thus, it is expected that each enterprise can maximize corporate strategies by applying different flexibility strategy depending on the competitive advantage strategy.
