The authors attempted to investigate the oxygen consumption rate of sexuals in the water-striders, Gerris paludum insuralis, at four temperature groups of 25, 30, 35 and $40^\\circ C$ in a series of studies on respiration of a heminetabolous insects. THe results are summarised as follows: (1) At $30^\\circ C$, the change of oxygen consumption rate according to the lapse of time was small in comparison with the other three temperature groups which shows a cyclic decreasing pattern. The rate during initial and final 5 minutes was much alike. Thereupon, the optimum temperature was regarded as $30^\\circ C$. (2) The oxygen consumption rate of male was higher than that of female. (3) The oxygen consumption rates at 25, 30, 35 and $40^\\circ C$ were 0.42, 0.49, 0.79 and 1.11 $\\mu$l/mg/h respectively. That is, the rate was increased as the temperature was increased. (4) The $Q_10$ of male showed a high value in the lower temperature interval ($25^\\circ C \\sim 35^\\circ C$), but the female showed a high value in the higher temperature interval ($30^\\circ C \\sim 40^\\circ C$). The mean $Q_10$ was 2.12. (5) The respiratory rate was decreased as the body weight was increased in the above fresh weight of 10mg and dry weight 5 mg. (6) The upper temperature threshold for respiration was $48.31^\\circ C$ and the lower temperature threshold was $17.68^\\circ C$. (7) The ceasing time of breathing at the other three temperature groups except $30^\\circ C$ was infered to be about 110 minutes after the start of experiment.
This study presents optimal design of gas lift considering composition of reservoir oil and injected gas which can affect gas lift performance in offshore oil reservoir. Reservoir simulation was conducted by using reservoir models which were built in accordance with API gravity of oil. The results of simulation reveal that oil production rate is considerably increased by gas lift when the reservoir productivity decrease. As a results of response curve analysis for gas lift using well models, gas injection rate to improve the production rate increases as the API gravity of oil decreases and the specific gravity of injected gas increases. The optimal design of gas lift was carried out using multiple lift valves. Consequently, gas lift can be operated at relatively low injection pressure because of decrease in injection depth in comparison to the single lift valve design. The improved oil production rates were analyzed by coupling between reservoir model and well model. As a results of the coupling, it is expected that natural gas injection in the heavy oil reservoir is the most efficient method for improving oil production by gas lift.
This survey was designed to evaluate knowledge and attitudes of physicians and nurses toward cancer pain management in South Korea and to compare physicians' knowledge and attitudes with nurses' Ninety-nine physicians and 152 nurses working at four major institutions in South Korea were included for the study. With the 30 items of the knowledge with true and false answers about cancer pain such as pain assessment(6 items), pharmacokinetics of opioids(8 items), analgesics classification(11 items), and drug administration(5 items), total score of knowledge answered by physicians was 21.40, which was not significantly higher than 20.87 answered by nurses. Rates of the correct answer were more than 70% in both physicians and nurses. Physicians were more knowledgeable in pharmacokinetics and analgesics classification than nurses, while nurses higher only in pain assessment than physicians. Since physicians and nurses could not effectively manage the cancer pain because of inappropriate knowledge, it is important to provide intensive education to physicians and nurses about cancer pain management.

This study was to evaluate the stream depletion from groundwater pumping in shallow aquifer using the Hunt's analytical solution (2009) which considers a two-layer leaky aquifer-stream system. From the total 2,187 cases of simulations with combinations of various aquifer and stream properties, the streamflow depletion rates divided by the groundwater pumping rate showed the low values when the stream depletion factor (SDF) is higher than 1,000-10,000, and was more sensitive to the aquitard hydraulic conductivity than the streambed hydraulic conductivity. The comparison of the Hunt's solution (2009) with the Hunt's solution (1999) of a single layer aquifer indicated that the maximum difference between the dimensionless stream depletions calculated by using both solutions is above 0.3, and the stream depletion is significantly affected by the hydraulic properties of the $2^{nd}$ layer as the SDF of the first layer increases. The Hunt's solution (2009) was applied to the real shallow groundwater well that is located in Chunju-Si, and the results revealed that the groundwater pumping has significant effects on streamflow in a short period of time, showing that the dimensionless stream depletion exceeds 0.8 within a few days. It was also found that the shallow groundwater pumping effects on stream depletion are highly dependent on the stream-well distance for the locations with high hydraulic diffusivity of $1^{st}$ layer and low vertical leakance between $1^{st}$ and $2^{nd}$ layers.
Water management agencies under the Ministry of Environment produce and accumulate qualified basic data for major rivers. However, the integrated management of the river water has been weak since the artificial water circulation process, such as the intaking and drainage of agricultural water, has not been examined in the basin, which includes many agricultural land. In this study, a study was conducted on how the power usage method (operating time method) based on the running time can be applied and improved among indirect flow rate measurement methods used to investigate flow rates collected by the riverside for agricultural water purposes, and thus the resultant data of high reliability can be obtained at low cost. The operation time method is suitable for small-scale water pumping stations where it is difficult to secure real-time power supply data. The reliability of the data was verified through the correlation analysis with the actual flow rate, and it was found that the flow rate calculated by the operation time method reflecting the level of the stream to which the inlet of the pumping station is connected can be reasonably matched with the actual flow rate. In addition, it was confirmed that the investment cost at the time of initial installation of the facility was highly efficient by generating qualified flow data at low cost through comparison with direct flow rate measurement methods. If flow data is secured by applying the operation time method to large and small water farms located along the riverside, it is expected that more quantitative and integrated stream water management will be possible.

This paper provides information for decision making of the managers and the staffs of oriental medicine hospitals through the analyzing financial statement. The oriental medicine hospitals decreased total assets, total gross revenues, and increased debt. Comparison of years 2008 and 2010, oriental medicine hospital's total assets decreased, liabilities increased, total revenue decreased, and showed a continuing deficit. On the other hand, the rate of net worth of the oriental medicine hospitals were high and lower dependence on the borrowings. So the management performance of the oriental medicine hospitals as a whole were good. However some the oriental medicine hospitals were experiencing serious financial difficulties. In order to the hospitals overcome its financial difficulties, they had to rely on short-term borrowings. In consideration of the reserve fund for essential business, the transfers and the net profit ratio to total assets of the operating profit ratio to total assets were the level of commercial interest rates. But the operating profit ratio to the total assets were significantly different according to the hospitals. And 10 hospitals of the operating profit ratio to gross operating revenues were (-), they had problems with profitability. Meanwhile the total amount of capital and the equity capital of reduced hospitals increased, there were significant differences even between hospitals.

This study was carried out to provide the geographic information based on the distribution of rice qualities and palatability in Gyeoungbuk province of Korea. The rice grain quality and environmental factors were analyzed using 513 sampling sites based on different five-agroclimtic regions of Gyeoungbuk province during three years from 2002 to 2004. In rice grain quality characteristics, the average palatability was low in South eastern coastal and Tabaek semi alpine regions as $67.6\~68.3$ and the coefficient of variation (CV) was relatively high as $6.2\~7.4\%$. The average head rice rates were low in South and Central eastern coastal regions as $87.3\~88.2\%$ and CV was high as $8.2\~8.3\%$. The average protein content was high in Central eastern coastal regions as $8.0\%$ and CV was high as $8.2\~8.3\%$. In case of palatability, the variation was differed clearly between high and low agroclimatic regions; it means that it is possible to divide the same agroclimatic region of high CV into two or three areas by CV of palatability. As the results of subdividing each existing agroclimatic regions based on the palatability, the variation of grain quality characteristics was become lower than that of existing five-agroclimatic regions. Therefore, the re-establishing of agroclimatic region based on rice grain quality was very important for precise cultivation for rice.
The whole plant of crop maize was chopped and ensiled in airtight 1-L capacity glass jars to determine the influence of residual sugar on anaerobic yeast growth and on the fermentation of lactic acid by L. buchneri in whole crop maize silage. There were a total of six treatments used in this experiment as follow: added 25 g de-mineralised water per kg chopped maize serving as control (con), 37.5 g glucose solution containing 12.5 g glucose ($g_1$), 75 g glucose solution containing 25 g glucose ($g_2$), 25 g L. buchneri suspension intended for $10^6$ cfu $g^{-1}$ (L.b.), $g_1+L.b.$ and $g_2+L.b.$ All silos were stored in the dark at $20^{\circ}C$ until end of experiment. Jars were opened on duplicates at day 2, 7, 14, 28, 56 or triplicates at day 91 after ensiling for measuring the pH, microbiological enumeration and fermentative products. Results indicated that acidification rates for all silages were very fast, no difference occurred among treatments before day 28. After day 28 the pH values for silages inoculated by L. buchneri. with or without sugar tended to increase especially for treated only with L. buchneri, resulting in higher (p<0.01) finial pH than uninoculated silages. Compared with control silage, the added sugar significantly (p<0.01) increased dry matter (DM) loss, L. buchneri enhanced (p<0.01) DM loss further at different sugar existence. Silages inoculated by L. buchneri only or in combination with sugar addition contained less (p<0.01) lactic acid than the correspondent silages without inoculation with L. buchneri. In comparison with control, ethanol production is about 3 or 6 fold higher due to addition 12.5 or 25 g glucose per kg chopped maize at ensiling. The added sugar resulted in less acetic acid concentration (p<0.01) than control, but inoculation with L. buchneri increased (p<0.01) acetic acid than correspondent uninoculated silages at different sugar levels. No butyric acid and propionic acid were found in uninoculted silages, silages inoculated with L. buchneri. produced more propionic acid, 1-propanol and butyric acid. Lactobacilli counts were not influenced by added sugar, but increased (p<0.01) with inoculation of L. buchneri. The added sugar increased significantly (p<0.01) the yeast count, whereas L. buchneri showed the contrary effect. No differences were found in the aerobic stability among all treatments. In conclusions, 1) the added sugars encourage the growth of yeast and yeasts convert extra sugar into ethanol in maize silages. 2) The added sugars and L. buchneri do not influence the aerobic stability of silages stored in anaerobic silos.

The objective of this study was comparison of seed yields according to different seeding rates, seeding time and application of chemical fertilizations in Yanji region of China. The experiment was conducted on commercial farmland at Yanji region in 2013. All the experimental fields were designed following randomized block design with 3 replicates. The plant spacing was applied as $65{\times}1cm$ distance. To check the effect of seeding rate, two different seeding rate, 0.2 kg/0.1ha and 0.5 kg/0.1ha were applied. The higher seed yield was observed in low seeding rate (0.2 kg/0.1ha). The application of fertilizer (mixture of N and P) showed different results following different experimental fields. However, there were little positive effects following fertilizer application into commercial farmland. When we compare seed yields between two different seeding dates, $4^{th}$ May and $29^{th}$ May, the earlier seeding date ($4^{th}$ May) showed higher seed yields. In considering these results, low seeding rate and early seeding time is important for getting high camelina seed yields.
Performances of retroreflectivity vary place to place, according to traffic volumes and time lengths after striping, depending on pavement marking materials and colors. The present paper uses the nation wide data of retroreflectivity, which has been collected from freeways and then tries to develop the regression curve setting traffic volume and service life as independent variables and retroreflectivities as dependent variables. The DB system includes two year's measurement in $2005{\sim}2006$ over Korean freeway pavement marking at an interval of three months for the period. The mobile measurement system, a laserlux, was employed for the purpose. The DB has provided a lot of information about materials and performance of the specific pavement marking such as geometric features, traffic volumes, material characteristics and the installation date. This study provides the comparison of pavement marking performances under diversified conditions. Based on accumulated pavement marking performances, this study provides performance curves based on the diversified factors. The goal of the retroreflectivity modeling is to develop equations that can be used to estimate an average retroreflectivity of pavement markings as a function time since application and traffic volume. After representing the variation of retroreflectivities and estimating regression curves by linear, exponential, logarithmic and power function, the regression curve which had the highest coefficient of determination and the value similar to the last field measurement was regarded as the retroreflectivity decay model. As a result of verification, the decay model showed the signification within the 90% confidence level and especially showed the clear relation with field data according to increase of cumulative vehicle exposure. Accordingly, these models can be used to determine service lives, retroreflectivity degradation rates, and retroreflectivity of new markings.
