  • A new method of power amplifier's linearity improvement using a Compact Microstrip Resonant Cell(CMRC) is proposed. It is found out that a CMRC at the input side gives better performance than that at the output. Tuning lines are used in the input and the output matching network to get the optimum performance. As a result, the 14.77 dB improvement fur the third-order IMD is obtained. And the size of the CMRC is only $17.1\times5.22mm$.

  • This paper presents a novel microwave oscillator incorporating a simple microstrip ring type resonant cell as its terminating resonance component. Reduced chip size, higher dc-ac power efficiency, superior harmonic characteristics can be achieved from the introduction of a compact microstrip ring resonator cell. The oscillator provides a second harmonic suppression of 26.51 dB and the output power of 2.046 dBm at 2.11 GHz.

  • In this paper, Compact Microstrip Resonant Cell(CMRC)s have been employed to suppress IMD(Intermodulation Distortion) of the 3-Way Doherty amplifier. This method can not only improve the linearity and the efficiency but also be simpler, smaller and more inexpensive than existing linearity methods; (for example harmonic feedback, back off, feed-forward, predistortion and so on) Also, using only one divider reduces the size of the proposed 3-Way Doherty amplifier. As a result, the IMD3 and the PAE have been improved by 4.5 dB and by $9.2\%$, respectively, using the proposed Doherty amplifier with CMRC.

  • In this paper, we applied the CMRC to a resonator to improve the harmonic characteristic of VCO. The CMRC filters have some advantage. It is a small size as well as easy to manufacture than PBG, DGS and other filters. This paper was proposed by using CMRC for a VCO. The second harmonic of -42.83 dBc and the phase noise at 100 kHz offset of -95.83 dBc/Hz was achieved, respectively. The VCO has better second harmonic character by 15.73 dB and phase noise by 31.13 dB in case of CMRC applied behind a resonator than CMRC used as a resonator.
