  • In the ubiquitous computing environments. people usually carry multiple information technology devices with them. Personal device network (PDN) refers to the way how people connect multiple IT devices for their personal as well as professional purposes. Even though it has been Quite popular to construct the PDN in ubiquitous computing context, not much research has been conducted on how people actually connected multiple devices and what influences their methods of connection. In this paper we conducted a content analysis on community bulletin boards of IT devices and a contextual inquiry with expert users of PDN for investigating the configurations with which users connect multiple IT devices. Base on the results of two related studies, we identified three major types of PDN configurations, and key factors that influence the configurations of PDN. We conclude this research with guidelines to design a set of devices for each of the three configuration types.

  • This paper is to analyze the current status and interdependence of knowledge regarding innovation related research in Korea, based on the four academic journals such as Journal of Korea Technology Innovation Society, Journal of Technology Innovation, The Korean Venture Management Review, and Research Policy. The major contributions of this research are as follows: First, we tried to see the general picture of the innovation research community by extending the boundary of analysis, not limiting to a specific journal. Second, instead of subjective and qualitative analysis relying on an expert review, we quantitatively analyzed various basic statistics on innovation area and confirmed that there exist differences for using key words across the journals. Third, we derived a set of influential papers in terms of the authoritative and hub indexes employing link analysis techniques. Finally we provided some recommendations for facilitating knowledge creation activities of academic journals in this area.

  • Recently, universities have applied a living lab as a user-led innovation model. This study analyzed two cases, British Columbia University, and D University. They are trying to change current provider-centered and expert-centered education model which encounters the limitations. To deriving the characteristics of university living lab, we analyzed the background, goals, methods, and implications of each case. The University of British Columbia operated a living lab centered on university buit-in environment. Students and faculty members participated in the living lab as proconsumers. D University operated a living lab as part of industry - academia cooperation and regional cooperation. The local community was set up as a living lab and knowledge providers, students, and users, local citizens, solved the problem jointly. Although the methods of living labs are different from each other, they are introducing new research and education methods and utilizing participatory governance.
