  • This paper deals with the network reliability problem that decides the communication line between main two districts while the k districts were destroyed in military communication network that the n communication lines are connected in m districts. For this problem, there is only in used the mathematical approach as linear programming (LP) software package and has been unknown the polynomial time algorithm. In this paper we suggest the heuristic algorithm with O(n) linear time complexity to solve the optimal solution for this problem. This paper suggests the flow path algorithm (FPA) and level path algorithm (LPA). The FPA is to search the maximum number of distinct paths between two districts. The LPA is to construct the levels and delete the unnecessary nodes and edges. The proposed algorithm can be get the same optimal solution as LP for experimental data.

  • We consider the problem of assigning tasks to homogeneous nodes in the distributed system, so as to minimize the amount of communication, while balancing the processors' loads. This issue can be posed as the graph partitioning problem. Given an undirected graph G=(nodes, edges), where nodes represent task modules and edges represent communication, the goal is to divide n, the number of processors, as to balance the processors' loads, while minimizing the capacity of edges cut. Since these two optimization criteria conflict each other, one has to make a compromise between them according to the given task type. We propose a new cost function to evaluate static task assignments and a heuristic algorithm to solve the transformed problem, explicitly describing the tradeoff between the two goals. Simulation results show that our approach outperforms an existing representative approach for a variety of task and processing systems.

  • Fast Handover for Proxy Mobile IPv6 (FPMIPv6), a protocol described in RFC 5949, is used to reduce handover latency and minimize packet loss problem occuring in the Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) protocol. However, during the study of implementing FPMIPv6, we found the Out-of-Order Packet (OoOP) problem that occurs in the experiment of FPMIPv6. Since the OoOP is an issue that affects significantly to QoS of the network, in this paper, we analyze the OoOP problem by using network model. The analysis conducts the cause of occurring OoOP problem due to there exist two paths for data transmitted from Correspondent Node (CN) to MN in FPMIPv6.

  • Since rapidly disseminating of Internet of Things (IoT) as the new communication paradigm, a number of studies for various applications is being carried out. Especially, interest in the smart medical system is rising. In the smart medical system, a number of medical devices are distributed in popular area such as station and medical center, and this high density of medical device distribution can cause serious performance degradation of communication, referred to as the coexistence problem. When coexistence problem occurs in smart medical system, reliable transmitting of patient's biological information may not be guaranteed and patient's life can be jeopardized. Therefore, coexistence problem in smart medical system should be resolved. In this paper, we propose a distributed coexistence mitigation scheme for IoT-based smart medical system which can dynamically avoid interference in coexistence situation and can guarantee reliable communication. To evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme, we perform extensive simulations by comparing with IEEE 802.15.4 MAC protocol which is a traditional low-power communication technology.

  • In this paper, we consider the problem of scheduling sensor activity to prolong the network lifetime while guaranteeing both discrete target coverage and connectivity among all the active sensors and the sink, called connected target coverage (CTC) problem. We proposed a distributed scheme called Distributed Lifetime-Maximizing Scheme (DLMS) to solve the CTC problem. Our proposed scheme significantly reduces the cost of the construction of the connected cover graphs in comparison with the some conventional schemes. In addition, the energy consumption is more balanced so that the network lifetime will be increased. Our simulation results show that DLMS scheme performs much better than the conventional schemes in terms of the network lifetime.

  • In order to enhance system energy efficiency, bidirectional link resource allocation strategy in GFDM-based multiuser SWIPT systems is proposed. In the downlink channel, each SWIPT user applies power splitting (PS) receiver structure in information decoding (ID) and non-linear energy harvesting (EH). In the uplink channel, information transmission power is originated from the harvested energy. An optimization problem is constructed to maximize weighted sum ID achievable rates in the downlink and uplink channels via bidirectional link power allocation as well as subcarriers and subsymbols scheduling. To solve this non-convex optimization problem, Lagrange duality method, sub-gradient-based method and greedy algorithm are adopted respectively. Simulation results show that the proposed strategy is superior to the fixed subcarrier scheme regardless of the weighting coefficients. It is superior to the heuristic algorithm in larger weighting coefficients scenario.

  • A sequencing problem is to find an ordered sequence of some entities which maximizes (or minimize) the domain specific objective function. As some typical examples of sequencing problems, there are traveling salesman problem, job shop scheduling, flow shop scheduling, and so on. This paper introduces a new type of sequencing problems, named a sequencing problem with fuzzy preference relation, where a fuzzy preference relation is provided for the evaluation of the quality of sequences. It presents how such a problem can be formulated in terms of objective function. It also proposes a genetic algorithm applicable to such a sequencing problem.

  • Efficient evidential reasoning is an important issue in the development of advanced knowledge based systems. Efficiency is closely related to the design of problems solving methods adopted in the system. The explicit modeling of problem-solving structures is suggested for efficient and effective reasoning. It is pointed out that the problem-solving method framework is often too coarse-grained and too abstract to specify the detailed design and implementation of a reasoning system. Therefore, as a key step in developing a new reasoning scheme based on properties of the problem, the problem-solving method framework is expanded by introducing finer grained problem-solving primitives and defining an overall control structure in terms of these primitives. Once the individual components of the control structure are defined in terms of problem solving primitives, the overall control algorithm for the reasoning system can be represented in terms of a finite state diagram.

  • The problem of selecting base station location in the design of mobile communication system has been basically regarded as a problem of assigning maximum users in the cell to the minimum base stations while maintaining minimum SIR. and it is NP hard. The objective function of warehouse location problem, which has been used by many researchers, is not proper function in the base station location problem in CDMA mobile communication, The optimal and approximate solutions have been presented by using proposed object function and algorithms of exact solution, and the simulation results have been assessed and analyzed. The optimal and approximate solutions are found by using mixed integer programming instead of meta-heuristic search methods.

  • The user experience of practical indoor power line communication (PLC) applications is greatly affected by the system quality-of-service (QoS) criteria. With a general broadcast-and-multi-access (BMA) relay scheme, in this work we investigate the joint source and relay power optimization of the amplify-and-forward (AF) relay systems used under indoor broad-band PLC environments. To achieve both time diversity and spatial diversity from the relay-involved PLC channel, which is time-varying in nature, the source node has been configured to transmit an identical message twice in the first and second signalling phase, respectively. The QoS constrained power allocation problem is not convex, which makes the global optimal solution is computationally intractable. To solve this problem, an alternating optimization (AO) method has been adopted and decomposes this problem into three convex/quasi-convex sub-problems. Simulation results show the fast convergence and short delay of the proposed algorithm under realistic relay-involved PLC channels. Compared with the two-hop and broadcast-and-forward (BF) relay systems, the proposed general relay system meets the same QoS requirement with less network power assumption.
