  • Throughout the practical process engineering design and commissioning 8E startup experiences focused on chemical process safety, the review of design and installation of the thermal relief valve with its surrounding facility in a chemical plant piping system is made to help the better understanding of the piping system of characteristics of thermal relief valve which Is consisting of theoretical approach, correlation in terms of temperature and pressure increase caused by external heat supply in a piping system, consideration of thermal relief valve design, pressure relieving system of serial thermal relief valves and exception of their installation. It is earnestly recommended that following topic should be implemented during thermal relief valve design, installation and normal operation as well.

  • Launched in 1999 and funded by the Korean government, the R&D project of developing the. light train system technology is finally wrapped up to produce its prototype train prototype and all the research activities on signal, communication, power supply third rail Type and infra-structure have been completed. In an attempt to verify the usability of the system through an actual testing and as a preliminary step to the application of the system to overall light train construction projects to be implemented in different cities in Korea, testing lines are under construction now. Here we'd like to introduce people to the general overview of the test line construction and interface found in the process of project.

  • 일반적으로 철도수요를 추정할 때에는 매표실적에 근거한 직접수요모형(Direct Demand Model)을 많이 사용하여왔다. 고속철도가 2004년 4월 개통됨으로써 실행된 수요가 나옴에 따라 이를 이용하여 KTX와 일반철도를 고려한 직접수요모형의 작성이 가능하게 되었다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 고속철도 운행 전${\cdot}$후의 실제수요를 이용하여 고속철도 개통 전${\cdot}$후의 직접수요모형을 추정하여보았다. 모형에 사용되는 변수로는 철도서비스, 사회경제지표 등을 사용하였다. 그 중 철도서비스, 즉 운행시간, 운행빈도, 운임 등을 집중적으로 사용하여 모형을 작성하였다. 이렇게 작성된 모형은 KTX와 일반철도, 일반철도 등급간에서 철도서비스 변수의 기여를 명시적으로 제시해준다. 개발된 모형을 이용하여 KTX 및 일반철도의 운행방향에 대하여 검토하였다.

  • After successful commissioning observations, IGRINS will soon begin its normal scientific operations on the 2.7m Harlan J. Smith telescope at the McDonald Observatory. We will present a working version of the IGRINS operation plan. A fraction of IGRINS guaranteed time will be devoted to a selection of strategic programs with legacy values, whereas the rest of the time will be used for normal programs. We will also describe the current status of the IGRINS data reduction pipeline package and its future development plan.

  • AVR parameter tuning for voltage control of power system generators has generally been done with the open-circuit model of the synchronous generator. When the generator is connected on-line and operating at rated load conditions, the AVR operates in an entirely different environment from the open-circuit conditions. This paper describes a new method for AVR parameter tuning using optimization technique with on-line linearized system model. As this method considers not only the on-line models but also the off-line open-circuit models, AVR parameters tuned by this method can give the sufficiently stable performance at the open-circuit commissioning phase and give the desired performance at the operating conditions. Also this method estimates the optimum parameters for desired performance indices that are chosen for satisfying requirements in some practical applications, the performance of the AVR can satisfy the various requirements.

  • The purpose of this study is to explain the importance of Vibration Monitoring Device by introducing an example of Predictive Maintenance System using Condition Monitoring System of Hydro-turbine generator. Confirming vibration of generation equipment is commissioning procedure during equipment completion for checking guaranteed items. Data from Generator output range are used to determine output band to continue the performance of equipment. The Vibration Monitoring System is not absolute method of maintenance, but if it is used well with expert, it will be visible, data-analyzed, scientific maintenance more than others. And also, Condition Monitoring System is very important for remote controlled small hydro-power plant although most of it is installed in Large hydro-power plant.

  • We will present the activities of East Asian VLBI Network, EAVN, which consists of around 20 radio telescopes in Japan, Korea, and China with 6,500 km extend. It is a most sensitive and highest VLBI array in the world. We have conducted science verification observations at mainly 8 and 22 GHz. And Japanese VLBI array, VERA, and Korean VLBI array, KVN have combined as KaVA, Korean and VERA Array, and started science observations with open use at 22 and 43 GHz. We will presents some commissioning and science results based on it. Moreover Taiwan is constructing the Greenland telescope to be a millimeter and submillimeter VLBI station, which will be a very powerful station in Global millimeter and submillimeter VLBI array. These activities will be introduced as well.

  • Putting the urban maglev train to practical use requires the systematic management to predict and solve the problems in advance, which are expected to occur in the operation of the vehicle, at each lifecycle step such as concept design, manufacture, commissioning and maintenance. In this article, we review the trend of international specification for railway RAMS and suggest the RAMS program from the viewpoint of system engineering. In addition, RAMS requirements for the advance into the foreign market are presented through the investigation of RAMS specifications for Metro transit in various principal countries. Lastly, we suggest the direction of RAMS research on maglev train for putting it to use by analysing the trend of RAMS researches in Japanese railway.

  • This paper presents a procedure and an analysis method to evaluate reliability of the Korea high-speed train. The rolling stock system is divided into 6 sub-systems and each subsystem is classified into sub-assemblies. Functional analysis has been conducted to draw reliability block diagrams for the sub-systems. First, failure rates has been calculated for each sub-assembly from the failure data obtained during commissioning tests. Then a reliability block diagram is used to evaluate the MKBF(Mean Kilometers Before Failure) of the sub-systems. Activities to increase reliability have been carried out throughout the test runs and analysis results show that the reliability of the rolling stock system is gradually growing in time.

  • 2011년 IMA의 자료[1]에 의하면, 현재 251척의 부유식 생산설비가 운영되고 있으며, 이중 FPSO가 차지하는 비율은 64%에 이른다. 또한, 가장 각광을 받고 있는 부유식 생산설비의 유형인 FPSO는 현재 40여척을 건조 (New building) 및 개조(Conversion)를 하고 있다. 전체적인 FPSO의 개발 및 건조 프로젝트는 일반 선박 프로 젝트와는 다르게 환경적, 정치적, 상업적인 영향을 많이 받는다. 예를 들면, 같은 구역에 석유/가스 채굴을 위한 프로젝트를 승인받은 기업들은 각자의 기술력, 재정상태, 채굴구역의 정치적인 영향력에 따라서 프로젝트의 초기 개념설계부터 전혀 다른 방향으로 구축할 수 있다. 이러한 변수가 많은 프로젝트를 성공적으로 수행하기 위해서는 각 단계별 세부 계획도 동시에 이루어져야 한다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 세계적인 해양구조물의 대표 격인 FPSO의 특성을 보고하고 이와 관련되는 프로젝트의 다양한 수행 절차 및 시스템/장비에 대해 설명한다.
