A micro zoom system without moving elements by use of two liquid lenses is designed and optimized in this paper. The zoom equations of the system composed of two liquid lenses are deduced. The structure parameters including radius and thickness of a conical double-liquid electrowetting based lens are analyzed and calculated. Because the liquid thickness varies non-linearly with the radius of the interface, it's very difficult to optimize a real liquid lens using commercial optical design software directly. Through the Application Programming Interface (API) of the optical design software CODE V, a zoom system with two real electrowetting based liquid lenses is modeled and optimized. A two-liquid-lens zoom system without moving elements, with a zoom factor of 1.8 and a compact structure of 10 mm is designed for illustration. This can be useful for the camera design of mobile phones, tablets and so on. And this paper presents a convenient way of designing and optimizing a zoom system including liquid lenses by commercial optical design software.

Reliability is absolutely necessary in most recent mission critical systems which usually utilize the Ethernet based computer networks. A typical way to increase system reliability is to equip the fault tolerant Ethernet. In this paper we try to formulate the fault tolerant dual Ethernet concept and presents a comparison of its implementation approaches. Two types of dual Ethernet configuration are analyzed; the divided and the connected. Then the characteristics of three current implementation approaches which are the hardware based, the software based, and the recently proposed hybrid approach are compared. The results show that the hardware based or the hybrid approaches can be a better solution for the real time mission critical systems. Also for the systems which require the use of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) hardware for fault tolerant Ethernet the possible choice is the software based or the hybrid approach.

Currently, increase of greenhouse gas has had a signigicant impact on climate change in urbanization. As a result, the government has been looking for ways to take advantage of the trees that generate oxygen and reduce carbon dioxide for the prevention of climate change. It is essential to extract individual tree for calculating the amount of carbon dioxide reduction of trees. Aerial LIDAR data have three-dimensional information of building as well as trees as form of point clouds. In this study, automated model was developed to extract individual tree using aerial LIDAR data. For this purpose, we established a methodology for extracting trees and then proceeded the process of developing it as an automated model based on model builder of ArcGIS Software. In order to evaluate the applicability of the developed model, the model was compared with commercial software in study area located in Yongin City. Through the experimental result, the proposed model was extract trees 9.91% higher than commercial software. From this results, it was found that the model effectively extracted trees.

In the past decade, several tools have been developed to automate the floating-point to fixed-point conversion for DSP systems. In the conversion process, a number of scaling shifts are introduced, and they inevitably alter the original code sequence. Recently, we have observed that a compiler can often be adversely affected by this alteration, and consequently fails to generate efficient machine code for its target processor. In this paper, we present an optimization technique that safely migrates scaling shifts to other places within the code so that the compiler can produce better-quality code. We consider our technique to be safe in that it does not introduce new overflows, yet preserving the original SQNR. The experiments on a commercial fixed-point DSP processor exhibit that our technique is effective enough to achieve tangible improvement on code size and speed for a set of benchmarks.

The Power Flow Finite Element Method(PFFEM) offers very promising results in predicting the vibration responses of system structures, and the first PFFEM software, PFADS has been developed in Seoul National University for the vibration predictions and analysis of coupled system structures in medium-to-high frequency ranges. PFFEM is numerical method which solves energy governing equation using finite element technique for complicated structures where the exact solutions are not available. Through the upgrades, the current version PFADS R3 could cover the general beam and plate structures including various kinds of beam-plate rigid joints, spring-damper connection and rigid body connection within beam and plate in addition. This software is composed of three parts; translator, model converter and solver. The translator makes its own FE-model from bulk data of commercial FE software, and the model converter is used to convert FE-model to PFFE-model automatically. The solver calculates vibrational energy density and intensity for PFFE-model by solving global matrix equations of PFFEM. For the applications of PFADS R3, two vehicle models and a container model are examined with respect to major parameters, and reliable results are obtained.
This study was carried out to develop a computer software system for poultry breeding by using microcomputer(PC). Through this study, SPPB(Statistical Package for Poultry Breeding) was designed and developed, which can help poultry breeder collect and analyse the chick records. A main feature of the system was the application of user-oriented procedure, for example, choice of the flock file, selection of the family size and the desired traits. Creation of the data files and the breeding files. calculation of the elementary statistics, estimation of the heritability and the genetic and phenotypic correlation coefficients can be obtained by user's choice of the sire and dam family size. Also, it is possible to estimate the various selection indices through this system. Easiness of using this system and the flexibility of the file management could help increasing the efficiency of related practical poultry breeding jobs. Correctness and relationships between the unit programs in the system were proved through the run-test of the SPPB using sample data. Because it wasn't able to collect breeding records at the commercial breeding farm, effectiveness of the system was not proved totally. Also. it will be necessary to develop the integrated software system which make possible to computerize the general works at breeding farm and the genetic analyses of the records from chick breeders.
Recently, BIM has been widely applying in civil engineering projects centering on the private construction industry in order to establish self guidelines for spreading in practice. However, most BIM technologies and software are based on the architectural projects. In these environments, it is not easy to apply the BIM to a infrastructure field. Even BIM standards with IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) are also focusing on architectural projects. Especially, both private and public sectors do not know about how BIM delivery system should be performed, and how such deliverable should be submitted to the government yet. Thus, we need to analyze an application level of BIM S/W (Software) in real projects and verify their interoperability. Besides, since there are not any common standards that can exchange IFC models for civil engineering projects, we have many issues in converting as-built infrastructure models into IFC and delivering their design documents to the government. Accordingly, this study aims to perform a BIM process with commercial software for real road project after a detailed design process is finished and verify interoperability between diverse BIM software for securing BIM data reliability.
Finite element method (FEM) provides several advantages over other numerical methods such as boundary element method, since it allows truly volumetric analysis and incorporation of realistic electrical conductivity values. Finite element mesh generation is the first requirement in such in FEM to represent the volumetric domain of interest with numerous finite elements accurately. However, conventional mesh generators and approaches offered by commercial packages do not generate meshes that are content-adaptive to the contents of given images. In this paper, we present software that has been implemented to generate content-adaptive finite element meshes (cMESHes) based on the contents of MR images. The software offers various computational tools for cMESH generation from multi-slice MR images. The software named as the Content-adaptive FE Mesh Generation Toolbox runs under the commercially available technical computation software called Matlab. The major routines in the toolbox include anisotropic filtering of MR images, feature map generation, content-adaptive node generation, Delaunay tessellation, and MRI segmentation for the head conductivity modeling. The presented tools should be useful to researchers who wish to generate efficient mesh models from a set of MR images. The toolbox is available upon request made to the Functional and Metabolic Imaging Center or Bio-imaging Laboratory at Kyung Hee University in Korea.

The software GPS receivers based on the SDR technology provide the ability to easily adapt the other signal processing algorithms without changing or modifying the hardware of the GPS receiver. However, it is difficult to implement the software GPS receivers using a commercial processor because of the heavy computational burden for processing the GPS signals in real-time. This paper proposes an efficient GPS signal processing scheme to reduce the computational burden for processing the GPS signals in the software GPS receiver, which uses a fundamental notion compressing the replica signals and the encoded look-up table method to generate correlation values between GPS signals and replica signals. In this paper, it is explained that the computational burden of the proposed scheme is much smaller than that of the typical GPS signal processing scheme. Finally, the processing time of the proposed scheme is compared with that of the typical scheme, and the improvement in the aspect of the computational burden is also shown.
The aim of this study is to develop a software tool of thermal performance and economic analysis of windows, called WEPTools which helps architects, builders, and engineers quickly identify the most cost-effective window system in the very early stages of the design process. This software is suitable for examining middle or Large-sized commercial and residential buildings that are characterized by one thermal zone. To establish the reliability of the simulation results, we adopt TRNSYS algorithm of which verification has already well approved. Therefore it performs whole-building energy analysis for 8760 hours/year, including dynamic thermal calculation.
