Driveability Analysis of U-type Sheet Pile using WEAP Program (WEAP 프로그램을 이용한 U형 널말뚝의 항타관입성 해석)

  • Vibratory pile driving has an advantage of reduced noise pollutions compared to impact pile driving and it has been very widely used in the installation of sheet piles. However, very little has been known about the driveability characteristics of sheet pile under vibratory driving. So, the proper sheet piles and vibratory hammer for an given soil profile and depth are determined on a empirical basis. In this study. the driveability of U-type sheet piles are analytically estimated using the commercial WEAP(Wave Equation Analysis of Piles) program. The WEAP analysis shows that penetration rate of sheet pile decreases as N value increases. And if penetration length is not over 20 meters, the rate of penetration decreases as the sectional area of sheet pile increases.

Heat and Flow Analysis in the HVAC Impeller for Mid-Size Car (중형차 HVAC 임펠러 내의 열유동 해석)

  • In this research, various cases of centrifugal impeller for HVAC system have been numerically analyzed by changing center angle of blades and length of outlet. Commercial CFD code, FLUENT has been used to calculate velocity, pressure, turbulence intensity, and temperature that can lead numerous results. Regardless of warming up, when the heater power level was increased, the temperature inside surrounding impeller also increased due to flowing outer air, but the temperature decreased because of flowing inner air. Consequently, the variation of central angle of blades and length of outlet led difference of velocity and flow rate which can reduce $CO_2$ in gas emission.

  • The development of the console for exterior advertizing LCD Panel(LCD Console) is the purpose of this study with regard to importance of display industry. In this study, the most important point is to develop the cooling system for LCD Console. It is developed by using systematic application techniques and statistical tests and analysis to integrate commercial components, cooling fan, heat sink, thermo electronic modules etc, of it. This study, at first, shows design/manufacturing process of the cooling system and the setting process of control factors to control through experimentation. Next, after constructing the complete console, 46 inch LCD Panel and the cooling system are built in, the performance test of it is shown through experimentation.

Analysis with Directional Solidification in Silicon Melting Process (실리콘 용융 공정에서 방향성 응고에 관한 특성 분석)

  • This paper is the study for the directional solidification of the ingot through the thermal analysis simulation and structural change of casting furnace. The activation analysis of metal impurities were also detected the total number of 10 different metals, but the concentration distribution showed no significant positional deviations in the same position from the top to the bottom. With the results of thermal analysis simulation, the silicon as a whole has reached the melting temperature as the retention time 80 min. The best cooling conditions showed at the upper cooling temperature $1,400^{\circ}C$ and cooling time 60min. The fabricated wafers showed the superior etching result at the grain boundary than that of existing commercial wafers.

Characterisrics of the Ag System Insert Metal Produced by Powder Mixing Process (분말 혼합 공정으로 만들어진 은계 삽입금속의 특성)

  • Powder type Ag system insert metals were manufactured by ball milling process. The variables of milling process were constant except the milling time. The milling times were selected for 24, 48 and 72 hours. The insert metals made by milling process were evaluated by performing scanning electron microscope, DSC(differential scanning calorimetry) analyses, spreading test and further in terms of wettability test. The selected insert metals that have the good characteristics compared to commercial insert metals were applied to make the brazed joints. The characterizations of those brazed joints were also conducted by microstructural observations. The results indicated that milling time of 48 hours for making powder type insert metals was the best condition showing the good spreadibility, low wetting angle. The brazed joints that applied the 48 hours milled insert metal were very sound condition indicating the stable microstructure in spite of containing small amount of porosity and the microhardness value of the joint was about 138VHN.

  • This study performed a focus group interview(14 people) on food-service staffs, dieticians, and housewives to develop a small multi-function oven for rice flour. The interviewees have experienced rice flour cooking and oven at home or food-service business. The interviewees have not used commercial ovens on a daily basis for several reasons, such as the absence of understanding rice flour, lack of various recipes with rice flour and inconvenience of the oven. This study suggests of design, user experience, functional characteristics, color and so on relating to a small multi-function oven to the customers.

  • This paper is about the analysis and design of avionics equipment's housing and PCB(Printed Circuit Board) such as air data computer. Avionics equipment's structural design as well as electrical properties is very critical and should be proved from design phase by analysis method. First, analyze the static load and vibration requirement for the installed equipment, and then proved it satisfy with its requirement using the computational structural analysis. Commercial tools were used for computation and the rib design of housing was verified and the placement of electrical component was proposed using the PCB's local displacement information.

  • The Application of UV curing technique for poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC) floor tiles coating has improved the quality of PVC floor. Several formulations were made including acrylated oligomers based on a polyurethane were blended with reactive monomers, photoinitiators and other additives. The used oligomers are commercial aliphatic urethane acrylates. Thin films were prepared on PVC tiles by bar coating with different formulations using UV radiation. The coating resins were characterized by FTIR. The properties of UV-cured films such as gloss and adhesion were examined. The properties of UV-cured films dependent on the influence of composition and processing conditions was studied.

A Study on Hull Form Development of Polyethylene Boat (폴리에틸렌 보트의 선형 개발에 관한 연구)

  • The Domestic boat has been manufactured by hull form of typical foreign boat. In this study, design environment for polyethylene boat is analysed to create new hull form of the boat and design elements are extracted from existing boats and consumer preferences. Key elements in polyethylene boat design are three words "semi-classic, urban and sporty". Hull resistance and engine power for new developed boat can be expected by Orca 3D program. This result indicates that engine power of the boat is much less than that of commercial boat.

Optimum design and performance of marine sea water pump with impeller using CFRP (CFRP 임펠러를 사용한 선박용 해수펌프의 최적설계와 성능특성)

  • Marine sea water pump with impeller using carbon fiber block was developed to prevent the impeller corrosion by the salinity. A numerical analysis was carried out in order to optimize the impeller and volute design for marine sea water pump and to investigate the sensitivity of the related parameters(impeller thickness, surface roughness) using CFD commercial code. The impeller thickness is limited because of the weight. Since the impeller using the carbon fiber lights, the thickness which has a maximum efficiency can be used. The results show that the surface roughness leads to an 7% reduction in pump efficiency.
