LFG 활용을 위한 기초 연소특성 검토 (An Investigation of the Fundamental Combustion Characteristics for the Utilization of LFG)

  • Fundamental combustion characteristics, such as the combustion potential, burning velocity and flame stability, for the practical utilization of LFG(Landfill gas) and LFG-blended fuels were experimentally investigated. The combustion potentials(CP) of LFG-blended fuels calculated from the previously suggested formulae were compared with burning velocities obtained by present experiments. The results showed that the previous formulae fur CP of LFG-blended fuels were not agreed with the experimental burning velocity, and these formulae should be revised. To provide an useful information needed to design the combustion devices, a triangular diagram was suggested for the maximum burning velocity of the mixture of CH$_4$, LPG and LFG. From the investigation of the burning velocity and the flame stability in a practical combustor, it was noted that the LFG-blended fuels, of which heating values or Wobbe indices were adjusted to that of natural gas, could be used as an alternative fuel of natural gas.

  • 본 연구에서는 가스발생기의 연소 안정 특성을 파악하기 위해 실험적 방법을 적용하였다. 액체산소와 Jet A-1을 추진제로 사용하며 연료 과농 상태에서 작동하는 실험 가스발생기는 연소실 축 방향 공진 모드에 결합된 1200 Hz 대역의 고주파 연소불안정을 겪었다. 이 연소불안정의 발생 유무는 연소실 출구부의 음향 경계 조건과 화염의 열 발생 축 방향 위치에 매우 민감하게 반응하였다. 결과적으로 단일 분사기 노즐 크기 증가에 의한 화염의 축 방향 길이 증가는 연소안정성을 확연하게 향상시켰다.

선회유동을 이용한 펠릿연소기의 화염안정화 연구 (A Study on The Flame Stability of Pellet Combustor Using Swirling Flow)

  • The wood pellet, which is one of the woody biomass energy, has very high economic efficiency and combustion efficiency during their combustion. The existing pellet burner have many problems such as low combustion efficiency, flame stabilization, ash problem and ignition time etc. We developed cyclonic wood pellet burner aim to 20,000kcal/hr boiler and measured temperature profiles and exhaust gases in order to investigate the flame stability and optimum combustion condition at any air flow conditions. As results, we confirmed the reappearance and the isotropy of the experimental results in the burner. At the first air flow inlet condition of excess air ratio ${\alpha}=0.02$, second air flow $490{\ell}/min$ had the best combustion condition when pellet supplied 30g. This result means that we need much air supply only for the swirling of second air flow. So we tested various second air flux at first air excess air ratio ${\alpha}=0.7$ condition. At this condition, we could find out that we don't need much second air and total air flux compared to the former condition. We will continuously test this work of air flow distribution, and swirl effect of first air flow, and ash elimination.

  • 본 연구에서는 액체로켓엔진용 동축 와류형 분사기의 연소불안정 특성을 파악하기 위해 기체 추진제를 이용한 모델 연소실험을 수행하였다. 연소실 공진 주파수와 분사기 혼합조건의 영향을 알아보고자, 연소실 길이, 분사기, 리세스 길이, 추진제 혼합비를 변경하면서 연소실 압력섭동을 측정하였다. 실험 결과, 각 실험조건에 따른 압력섭동 변화를 확인하였으며 안정성 매핑을 통해 연소안정성을 평가하였다. 그리고 연소실 길이와 리세스 길이 변화에 따라 종방향 모드 및 켈빈-헬름홀츠 불안정이 발생함을 발견하였다.

  • 액체로켓엔진 개발에서 필수 단계인 연소안정성 확인을 위한 연소안정성 평가시험(stability rating test) 방법의 개발을 위해서는 압력교란장치의 특성과 더불어 안전한 연소시험 절차(sequence)의 확립이 필수적이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 연소안정성 평가시험을 위해 개발된 펄스건을 액체로켓엔진의 연소시험에 실제로 적용하기 위한 단계로서, 적절한 연소 시험 절차를 개발/검증하고자 하였다. 먼저 펄스건을 실제로 연소실 외벽에 장착하게 되는 압력파 유도장치를 설계하고, 펄스건의 오작동을 방지하기 위한 압력파 유도장치 내부의 냉각시스템의 설계 및 시험을 수행하였다. 이러한 일련의 연소시험 단계를 통하여 실물형 액체로켓엔진에서의 연소안정성 평가시험이 가능한 적절한 시험 단계를 국내 독자적으로 개발하는데 성공하였다.

가스호환성 판정에 편리한 새로운 화염안정영역의 도시법의 제안 및 유용성 검토 (Proposal and Validation of a New Flame Stability Diagram to Gas Estimate Interchangeability)

  • A flame stability diagram in a partially premixed flame is typically expressed using the axis coordinates of heat input rate and equivalence ratio. These diagrams are inadequate for identifying changes in combustion conditions and flame stability when a reference fuel is substituted with other fuels under identical operating conditions. This study proposes a new type of diagram and validates it experimentally. In this new diagram, the axis coordinates are air flow rate and Wobbe fuel flow rate, defined as the fuel flow rate multiplied by the square root of the relative density. The diagram was validated in trials using various fuels, including $CH_4$, $C_{3}H_{8}$, and LFG-$C_{3}H_{8}$ mixed fuels, in a domestic gas-range and an gas interchangeability test burner. The results of these trials show that the new diagram can provide information useful for assessing gas interchangeability of combustion conditions and flame stability when one fuel is substituted with another under identical operating conditions.

고효율 화염 안정형 접선식 석탄 버너 개발 (The Development of High Performance Flame Stability(HPFS) Tangential Coal-Fired Burner)

  • This report presents a study of the development of an advanced coal nozzle used in burners to reduce unburned carbon (UBC) in a tangential coal-fired boiler. To understand the mechanism of UBC reduction, experiments using conventional burners were carried out to evaluate the effects of air injection velocity, coal fineness and over fired air (OFA) on combustion efficiency. It was confirmed that ignition of pulverized coal particles close to the burner is helpful toward the complete burn of residual carbon in fly ash. These efforts indicated the additional results that UBC was strongly dependent on the primary air velocity and coal fineness; especially that UBC dramatically decreased when the weight fraction of pulverized coal under $75{\mu}m$ was over 85 %. New coal nozzles, modified from conventional nozzles, were prepared and tested to improve the combustion efficiency. Some of these nozzles offered relatively lower unburned carbon than those of conventional burners and are referred to as HPFS (High Performance Flame Stability) coal nozzles.

  • 얼마나 쉽게 연소불안정 해지는지에 대한 척도로서, 작동 안정성 여유를 예측하기 위해 로켓연소기시스템의 열음향 불안정을 검토하였다. 연소기 시스템의 동적거동 특성파악을 위해 연소성능시험 중 측정한 연소기의 동압 데이터를 바탕으로 시간이 지남에 따라 시스템이 안정해지는지를 결정하는 파라미터로서 성장속도 계수를 구하였다. 파라미터 추출은 시계열 압력데이터를 주파수 도메인으로 전환하여 관심모드의 성장속도나 감쇠계수를 도출하는 방법을 우선 검토하였으며, 스토캐스틱 해석의 경우에는 압력진동의 진폭 엔벨롭으로 부터 압력진폭 PDF를 추출했다.

  • In-cylinde flow and mixture formation are key contributors to both idle stability and combustion stability at part load condition in SI engine. The real time measurements of air-fuel ration and in- cylinder residual gas fraction are particularly important to obtain a better understanding of the mechanisms for combustion and emissions especially during cold start and throttle transient condition. This paper reports the cycle resolved measurements of residual gas fraction and equivalence ration near speak plug with value timing change and their effects on combustion characteristics at part load. The results showed that the effect of intake value opening on the residual gas fraction was smaller than that of exhaust valve closing because of the decreases of exhaust gas reverse flow from exhaust port. The variation of equivalence ratio near spark plug increased with the increase of value overlap and it closely related with heat release rate and combustion stability

다공성세라믹버너의 화염안정화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Flame Stability of Porous Ceramic Burner)

  • Typical boiler system consists of combustion chamber and heat exchanger in one housing, therefore the size of boiler system is large and the heat exchanging efficiency becomes low. At these boiler systems, because the combustible mixture fires as free flame in the combustion chamber, consequently the combusted hot gas heats the heat exchanger only as conductive and convective heat transfer. The present Porous Ceramic Burner concept is that combustion process is occurred at the gaps of the porous ceramic materials, and the heat exchanger is placed in the same porous materials. Therefore we can reduce the boiler size, and we can also use radiative heat transfer from ceramic material with conductive and convective heat transfer from combusted gas throwing the porous materials. The purpose of this study is to search the flame stability ranges at different fuel flow rate and excess air ratio burning in the $Al_2O_3$ ceramic balls. We found out the stable excess air ratio range on given combustion intensity. And we can get clean porous ceramic combustion results compared with free flame.
