  • Taguchi defined a good quality as 'A correspondence of product characteristic's expected value to the objective value satisfying the minimum variance condition.' For his good quality, he suggested Taguchi Method which is called Robust design which is irrelevant to the effect of these noise factors. Taguchi Method which has many success examples and which is used by many manufacturing industry. But Optimal solution of Taguchi Method is one among the experiments which is not optimal area of experiment point. On the other hand, Response Surface Method (RSM) which has advantage to find optimal solution area experiments points by approximate polynomial regression. But Optimal of RSM is depended on initial point and RSM can not use many factors because of a great many experiment. In this paper, we combine the Taguchi Method and the Response Surface Method with each advantage which is called Taguchi-RSM. Taguchi-RSM has two step, first step to find first solution by Taguchi Method, second step to find optimal solution by RSM with initial point as first step solution. We give example using catapults.

  • In this study, QRS complex is detected by Wavelet Transform and it can be worked in 32bit fixed point operation thought optimization. First, ECG signal is passed though band pass filter. Second, it is transformed using one-band combined wavelet function from 3-band wavelet function. Third, it is passed though moving window integral. Finally, QRS complex is detected by decision rule. The proposed algorithm is evaluated using MIT-BIH arrhythmia database. Its all of process make progress 32-bit fixed-point operation and it makes table that high complexity operations like trigonometrical function. The detection algorithm evaluate through computer simulation.

  • Based on the experiment results, the damage and fracture behavior of concrete at the ages of 1d, 2d, 7d and 28d, in three-point bending and uniaxial tensile tests, were simulated with a finite element program, ABAQUS. The critical stress intensity factor $K_{IC}^s$ and the critical crack tip opening displacement ($CTOD_C$) of concrete were calculated with effective-elastic crack approach for the three-point bending test of grade C30 concrete. Based on the crack band model, a bilinear strain-softening curve was derived to simulate the LOAD-CMOD curves and LOAD-Displacement curves. In numerical analysis of the uniaxial tension test of concrete of grade C40, the damage and fracture mechanics were combined. The smeared cracking model coupling with damaged variable was adopted to evaluate the onset and development of microcracking of uniaxial tensile specimen. The uniaxial tension test was simulated by invoking the damage plastic model which took both damage and plasticity as inner variables with user subroutines. All the numerical simulated results show good agreement with the experimental results.

  • A GPS measurement solution, in general, is obtained as a least squares solution since the measurement includes errors such as clock errors, ionospheric and tropospheric delays, multipath effect etc. Because of the nonlinearity of the measurement equation, we utilize the nonlinear Newton algorithm to obtain a least squares solution, or mostly, use its linearized algorithm which is more convenient and effective. In this study we developed a fixed point algorithm and proved its availability to replace the nonlinear Newton algorithm and the linearized algorithm. A nonlinear Newton algorithm and a linearized algorithm have the advantage of fast convergence, while their initial values have to be near the unknown solution. On the contrary, the fixed point algorithm provides more reliable but slower convergence even if the initial values are quite far from the solution. Therefore, two types of algorithms may be combined to achieve better performance.

  • The device makers want to make higher density chips on the wafer through scale-down. The change of WSix/poly-Si gate film thickness is one of the key issues under 100 nm device structure. As a new device etching process is applied, end point detection(EPD) time delay was occurred in DPS+ poly chamber of Applied Materials. This is a barrier of device shrink because EPD time delay made physical damage on the surface of gate oxide. To investigate the EPD time delay, the experimental test combined with OES(Optical Emission Spectroscopy) and SEM(Scanning Electron Microscopy) was performed using patterned wafers. As a result, a EPD delay time is reduced by a new chamber seasoning and a new wavelength line through plasma scan. Applying a new wavelength of 252 nm makes it successful to call corrected EPD in WSix/poly-Si stack-down gate etching in the DPS+ poly chamber for the current and next generation devices.

  • In this study, the stress distribution of rectangular bar under torsion, when warping of both ends is free or constrained, is investigated. Method of separation of variable and Fourier Series are used for the theoretical analysis, and 3dimensional photoelastic stress-freezing method for experimental analysis. The main results are as follows; 1) In the case of warping-constrained rectangular bar, the normal stresses are negligible because they are less then 0.5% of the shear stresses. The maximum normal stress is placed on the point of y=0.61 b when b/a=1 and it gradually moves to the corner y=b when the value of b/a is increased. 2) According to increase of the value of b/a, on the crossection, the maximum shear stress is placed on the middle point of the long side (x=${\pm}a$, y=0) when warping of both ends is free but the middle of the short side (x=0, y=${\pm} b$) when warping is constrained. The stress distribution is straight line when warping is constrained, namely, the stress distribution is proportional to the distance from the axis of centroid, but parabolic when warping is free. 3) The values of the combined stress of warping-constrained bar, if the influence of the loaded point is neglected, are generally smaller than those of warping-free.

  • The presented work demonstrates the effects of flow rate on the secondary side of DHS (District Heating System). Increasing flow rate at the secondary side of DHS decreases energy consumption and time to reach the set-point of the heated room while increasing heat flux on the floor in the heating space. When flow rate increases, the overall heat transfer rate of radiant floor also increases. However, the results also show overall heat transfer rateto not increased linearly and thus the existence of an optimal flow rate for the secondary side of DHS. Control of the radiant floor with hot water may be more effectively accomplished with a combined control strategy that includes heat flux and a temperature set-point. This experimental analysis has been performed using a lab-scaled DHS pilot plant located at Jeonju University in Korea.

  • One of the delicate problems in aquifer problems in aquifer management is the identification of the spatial distribution of the hydrological parameters. To determine the distribution of the transmissivity in a aquifer, several data are available; the local values of transmissivity around well, interference tests, some knowledge of geological structure. All this information has to be combined to find a plausible representation of the aquifer. According to a three phased optimization process calculation is carried out; geostatistical estimate of the parameter field on the basis of known well point values adjustable on a limited numerical model, and modification of the values ot pilot points by a minimization algorithm. This procedure, applied to a known case, has proved to be very useful.

  • This paper considers the effect of rainfall on non-point source (NPS) pollutant loads. The impact of runoff on the occurrence of NPS pollutants was found to be influenced by rainfall amount, rainfall intensity, and the number of antecedent dry days (ADD), both independently and in combination. The close correlation ($R^2$ = 0.9920) between rainfall and runoff amounts was demonstrated at the study site (a flower farm) over the period between January 2011 and December 2013. The relationships among pollutant levels, runoff, and rainfall was not satisfactory results except for the Biochemical Oxygen Demand ($BOD_5$). The correlation coefficients between $BOD_5$, and both runoff and rainfall, were greater than 0.92. However, the relationships of other pollutants, such as Suspended Solid (SS), Chemical Oxygen Demand ($COD_{Mn}$), Total Nitrogen (TN), and Total Phosphorus (TP), with runoff and rainfall had correlation coefficients of less than 0.70. The roles of rainfall was different from rainfall categories on the occurrence of runoff. Instantaneous rainfall intensity was a principle factor on the occurrence of runoff following light rainfall events (total ${\leq}30mm$). For rainfall of intermediate intensity (total precipitation 31-50 mm), the combined effect of both average rainfall intensity and ADD was found to influence runoff generation. We conclude that the control of NPS pollutants with the reflection of the climate change that makes the remarkable effect of amounts and forms on the rainfall and runoff.

  • Bending performances of aluminum square tube beams reinforced by aluminum plates under three point bending loads have been evaluated using experimental tests combined with theoretical and finite element analyses. A finite element simulation for the three-point bending test was performed. Basic properties of aluminum materials used for initial input data of the finite element simulation were obtained from the true stress-true strain curves of specimens which had been extracted from the Al tube beams. True stresses were determined from applied loads and cross-sectional area records of a tensile specimen with a rectangular cross-section by real-time photographing, and true strains were obtained from in-situ local elongation measurements of the specimen gage portion by the multi-point scanning laser extensometer. Six kinds of aluminum tube beam specimens adhered by aluminum plates were employed fur the bending test. The bending deformation behaviors up to the maximum load described by the numerical simulation were in good agreement with experimental ones. After passing the maximum load, reinforcing plate was debonded from the aluminum tube beam. An aluminum tube beam strengthened by aluminum plate on the upper web showed an excellent bending capability.
