  • The camouflage pattern was difficult to distinguish from the surrounding background, so it was difficult to classify the object and the background image when the color image is used as the training data of deep-learning. In this paper, we proposed a red-green color blindness image transformation method using the principle that people of red-green blindness distinguish green color better than ordinary people. Experimental results show that the camouflage soldier's recognition performance improved by proposed a deep learning model of the ensemble technique using the imitated red-green-blind image data and the original color image data.

  • In current knowledge-based society, various information and communication tools are used in educational fields. Especially web becomes the most popular tool. However, for the disabled, web accessibility is a still main problem to overcome. The purpose of this paper is to improve web accessibility of color blindness by analyzing the educational web sites. The three suggestions for this study are as follows. First, use accent colors other then red or orange. Second, add the black and white conversion feature function on the screen. Third, construct colors of video clips and flash files that are appropriate for people with color blindness.

  • The present paper is concerned with the frequencies of G-6-PD deficiency acetylator phenotypes, hypocatalasemia and acatalasemia among Korean populations. The examination was carried out in the rural (Kyodong island, Moonmak Myeon and Yangyang Eup)and urban (Seoul) areas. The average frequency of G-6-PD deficiency in the total male population was 1.33%. A significant difference was observed among four areas. Tests on the color-blindness were performed in order to compara the two populations(Kyodong island and Seoul) and to obtain relationship between the color-blindness and G-6-PD deficiency. The frequency of color-blindness was 5.76% in the male rural population, and this rate was nearly consistant with that of the urban. The frequencies of the slow acetylator phenotype were 12.96% in Kyodong island, 10.36% in Seoul and 11.05% in Moonmak Myeon. Of the 3,004 persons investigated, no one has acatalasemia, but 10 cases of hypocatalasemia were found. The overall frequency was 0.33% which is slightly different from one area to another; 0.29% in Seoul, 0.27% in Kyodong island, and 1.15% in Moonmak Myeon.

  • This paper presents a mobile color-compensating application using a RGB color compensation algorithm. The proposed application enables color vision deficiencies to differentiate images which cannot be distinguished by them. The suggested mobile application has two functions: converting images taken by camera and converting contents in the device screen. The proposed application is computationally inexpensive, since it does not require color space transformation. Simulation results show that the proposed application enables color vision deficiencies to receive information expressed by colors such as subway line maps.

  • Nowaday, financial institutions provide secure mobile keyboard solutions to keep their mobile banking services safe. However, these are still vulnerable to attacks, such as shoulder surfing attack. Especially, in the case of handicapped person such as visual impairment and blindness, they are more vulnerable than ordinary person because of inconvenience of secure information input. Among them, we focused on the color blind. For the color blind, 4-color based secure keyboard method causes more inconvenience to notify exact color. Thus, we propose a secure mobile keyboard solution to provide advanced functionality for the color blind users. Our method is based on 4-color theorem to support color blind users. In addition, our scheme is robust against shoulder surfing attack. According to the evaluation result, our method offers increased security against shoulder surfing attack compare with existing methods.

  • Although innate color preference of motile organisms may provide clues to behavioral biases, it has remained a longstanding question. In this study, we investigated innate color preference of zebrafish larvae. A cross maze with different color sleeves around each arm was used for the color preference test (R; red, G; green, B; blue, Y; yellow). The findings showed that 5 dpf zebrafish larvae preferred blue over other colors (B > R > G > Y). To study innate color recognition further, tyrosinase mutants were generated using CRISPR/Cas9 system. As a model for oculocutaneous albinism (OCA) and color vision impairment, tyrosinase mutants demonstrated diminished color sensation, indicated mainly by hypopigmentation of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE). Due to its relative simplicity and ease, color preference screening using zebrafish larvae is suitable for high-throughput screening applications. This system may potentially be applied to the analysis of drug effects on larval behavior or the detection of sensory deficits in neurological disorder models, such as autism-related disorders, using mutant larvae generated by the CRISPR/Cas9 technique.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of eye dominance on color perception, and shade matching. Materials and Methods: A total of 104 participants were selected for the study. There were 3 groups: Group I: 3rd and 4th year dental students and interns (n = 40); Group II: postgraduates (n = 34); Group III: senior residents and faculty members (≥ 6 years of clinical experience) (n = 30). All participants were evaluated for congenital color blindness with Ishihara plates, their dominant eye with Mile's test, and their color perception with the Farnsworth-Munsell 100 hue test. The shade guide test was used for shade matching with a second corresponding set of Vitapan classical shade guides. Results: The results of Mile's test revealed that 60.6% were right-eye dominant and 39.4% were left-eye dominant. There was a statistically significant difference among all participants between the dominant eye and the non-dominant eye in shade matching. Conclusions: The dominant eye has a positive effect on shade matching and the ability to match shades becomes better with an increase in clinical experience.

  • The color and structure of urban constructions is a factor of urban landscape and shows their characteristics. Hence the modern buildings deal with their materials and external appearance as an important factor, making up the urban image. But it was nearby impossible to evaluate the value of visual landscape with objective measuring method. Most of all, it depends on the subjective estimation of a few talented or high educated experts with a sense of beauty. Such kinds of estimation can in some cases include arbitrary interpretations. In relation to this kind of problems, it is tried here in this study to analyse the human response of brain wave pattern (EEG) with use of SD method, while the tested persons watch the urban landscape scenery constructed in a visual reality. The tested persons were 20 adult male and female with no color blindness and intact cognitive function. Light source with color filter was used for color environment in a dark soundproof chamber. The signal of EEG is analysed digitally and grouped into the ${\alpha}$ and ${\beta}$ waves. The result showed that relative power of ${\alpha}$ wave ratio increased in the natural landscape scenery with blue and green color. From these results it was possible to evaluate the human response, which is affected by urban and natural color and structure stimulation and it might be useful as an indicator of visual cognition amenity toward the design of urban construction environment.
