진도 남도석성의 주거환경특성에 관한 기초조사연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Housing Environment at Namdo Castle in Chindo)

  • Namdo castle located in Namdong-ri, Imhoi-myon, Chindo-kun Cholla South Province is 610 meters long 5.3 meters high, and 20,000 square meters wide. This castle hasn't an accurate built year record. But there is still a great possibility of its having been built in the Sam-kuk (Three Kingdoms) era (around A.D. 300∼700). This castle seems to have been enlarged after 1438 because Manho-pu (lower unit of government office in Chosun dynasty) in Namdopo first appeared in the 20th year of King Sejong's reign. The main office, guest rooms, official residency of the castle were removed during the Japanese colonial rule and the land of the castle was sold separately for housing in the name of liquidation of Korean history. Thus, the Namdo castle that served as a naval base to defeat the Japan-based pirates' invasions throughout the Chosun period disappeared. As of Oct. 2000. 28 houses including a town hall occupy the site of the castle and are expected to be removed according to the restoration program of the castle. In this thesis, I'd like to study about the characteristics of housing in the site of the castle. To figure out the direction of the restoration program. I interviewed a few relating public officials in Chindo County Office. To examine the characteristics of housing, I surveyed the residents for the surrounding of housing.

  • 1) Lee-Su village is located in a riverside of an upper Tu-men river. Since an upper stream of Tu-men river is narrow and easy to pilot a boat, early in the past, it facilitated the form of the village near to the North Korean. 2) The form of the village is parabolic from the founding period. That is, increasing the number of houses in the time of the Cultural Revilution Campaign, and the Japanese colony, the village has transformed into the bigger size about 72 families from the small town. After the cultural revolution, due to private asset allowed in accordance with the Chinese Reform and Open Policy, the number of families in the town and the population have been decreased. As a result, 28 families live in the village currently. 3) The town which was well-ordered in the Japanese colonial period has been changed to a very disordered and agricultural town, owing to the decrease of the families A road system has been also ruined naturally in accordance with the decline of the number of the families.

한국문학의 '세계문학' 지향에 관한 역사적 고찰 (A Study on World literature-Oriented Korean Literature in the History of Modern Korean Literary Criticism)

  • This article studies that Korean literature has been renewed to World literature-oriented in the history of Modern Korean literary criticism from early modern period to present for reflecting the slogan, "globalization of Korean Literature" as well as contextualizing the necessity, "new relationship between Korean literature and World literature". Some writers, such as Lee Gwangsoo a pioneer of Modern Korean literature and the group for foreign literature[haioei-munhak-pa] introducing World literature to Korea and Lim hwa a prominent critic of proletarian literary theory under Japanese Colonial period, have understood European literature as World literature Korean literature had to reach. Inevitably the hierarchical relation between Korean literature and European literature as World literature had been interiorized to them. Meanwhile Jo Dong-il and Paik Nak-chung who have been representative researchers of Korean literature had tried to broken down the hierarchical relation between Korean literature and European literature interiorized to Korean writers until the 1980s, with Korean literature could be accomplished to World literature meaning. Since the late 1990s Park Sung-chang and Park Sang-jin who are leading researchers of comparative literature in Korea these days, have emphasized the methodology of new comparative literature for 'universality of literature' between Korean literature and World literature, which have been the renewal way of Korean literature in today's age of globalization.

석고전(石鼓殿)의 건축적 특성에 관한 기초 연구 (A Basic Study on the Architectural Characteristics of Seokgojeon)

  • Seokgojeon(石鼓殿) is a protective pavilion that protects stone drums made in 1902 during the Korean Empire in connection with Emperor Gojong's Mangyuksun (51'st birthday) and the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of his reign. During the Japanese colonial period, Seokgojeon was dismantled and transformed into the bell pavilion of Bakmunsa Temple, which was a memorial temple for Ito Hirobumi in 1935. In November 1945, just after liberation, Bakmunsa Temple was burned down, and the Seokgojeon Hall, which was transformed into Jonggak(鐘閣), was relocated to the Changgyeongwon(昌慶苑). Outdoor Stage in 1966, and was dismantled in 1984 due to the Changgyeonggung(昌慶宮) Palace restoration project, and only the members are currently stored. Therefore, this paper intends to use it as a basic research data to examine the style of monumental buildings during the Korean Empire through literature surveys, absence surveys, and case studies of similar buildings during the same period.

植民地期朝鮮における朝鮮佛敎觀-高橋亨を中心に (Making the image of Korean Buddhism : Focusing on the discourses of TAKAHASHI Toru)

  • TAKAHASHI Toru (1878-1967) was one of the most significant Koreanologists in Japanese academic field. He was a professor of Kyeongseong Imperial University in the prewar period and Tenri University (department of Korean studies) in the postwar period. He was majored in Korean intellectual history and literature. His achievements, especially on Korean Confucianism and Buddhism, are still referred and influential. He wrote two pamphlets published by department of education of the Government-General of Korea in 1920. This year was a year after of 3.1 Independent Demonstration. This riot might have demanded Japanese governors to survey about Korean mentality and characteristics. One of outcomes was Chousenjin (Korean People). The pamphlet tried to explain the Korean character in the perspective of a essentialism in Korean race. The other was a simple outline about history of Korean religions entitled Chousen shukyoushi ni arawaretaru sinkou no tokushoku (The characteristics of faith in the history of Korean religions). He explained that Korean religions, especially its Buddhism, were easily influenced by political condition. These pamphlets seemed to be typically colonialistic, since such negative characteristics of Korean made Japanese colonial rule legitimated as the Mission of civilization and enlightenment. His discourses synchronized with the desire of Japanese Imperialism. This article attempted to analyze his discourses in the perspective of postcolonial critics and sociology of knowledge.

일제강점기(日帝强占期) 조선신사(朝鮮神社)의 장소(場所)와 권력(權力): 전주신사(全州神社)를 사례(事例)로 (The Relationship between Power and Place of the Jeonju Shrine in the Period of Japanese Imperialism)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 일제강점기의 신사(神社)와 관련해 지배적 이데올로기와 장소 사이의 관계를 고찰하는데 있다. 조선신사는 일제의 내선일체(內鮮一體)를 달성키 위한 식민지배 전략 중 하나로서 공간적으로는 중일전쟁(1937년) 이전까지 개항장을 비롯한 전국의 중요 도시들에 51개의 신사들이 세워졌으며, 당시의 철도체계와 연계해서 해안과 내륙의 주요 도시들을 연결한 일종의 "신사 네트워크"였다. 또한 시각적으로 이 신사들은 도시의 조망이 탁월한 구릉에 대부분 입지하였으며, 일본인 거류지를 포함한 식민지 경관들과 인접하였다. 이 신사들에 안치된 천조대신(天照大神)과 명치천황(明治天皇)은 응시의 주체로서 지배자를, 그리고 피식민지인들은 응시의 대상으로 전락하였음을 상징하였다. 이러한 점들로 미루어 신사는 식민지 지배를 위한 감시 장치였다고 할 수 있다. 사례지역인 전주는 공간적으로 호남평야의 중심도시로서 전라선 철도와 연계되었다. 또한 전주신사는 전주읍성의 서문 밖에 위치한 다가산(多佳山)(65m) 구릉의 정상에 세워져 전망이 탁월하였으며, 일본인 거류지를 비롯한 식민지 경관들과 인접하였다. 그런데 광복이 되자 전주신사가 시민들에 의해 해체되었다. 이것은 훼손된 민족 정체성을 회복시키고자 노력한 시민들의 저항 담론의 결과였다. 그 장소에는 대신 충혼탑과 가람 시비가 세워짐으로써 다가산은 일제의 신사가 세워졌던 장소에서 국가 및 민족 정체성을 상징하는 장소로 탈바꿈하였다. 이런 관점에서 정치적 이데올로기가 경관을 통해 장소에 재현된다고 할 수 있다.

지역지리에서 화폐와 시장, 도시에 관한 역사지리적 접근 (Historical Geographic Approach to Money, Market and City in Regional Geography)

  • 본 연구는 최근 논의되고 있는 신지역지리의 방법론에 근거하여 지역에 대한 역사지리적 접근의 가능성을 모색하였다. 먼저, 지역지리학의 연구방법에서 구체적 총체성에 대해 살펴보고 구체적 총체성으로서의 지역연구가 신지역 지리 방법론에서 이루어지고 있음을 살펴보았다. 구체적 총체성으로서의 지역연구는 보편적인 사회적 변동의 프로세스와 지역을 고유한 것으로 생산 재생산하는 과정 사이에 상호관련성이 있다는 관점을 취하며 지역을 역동적으로 변화하는 역사적 단위로 본다. 지역의 변화 또는 시간개념에 대한 고려는 지역현상에 대해 지속과 불연속의 변증법 속에서 연구함을 의미한다. 지속과 불연속의 변증법은 지역에서 불연속을 초래한 계기나 현상을 포착하고 지속과 불연속의 연결고리를 찾아 상호관련성을 찾고자 한다. 자본주의의 역사지리에서 봉건제로부터 자본주의로의 이행 시기는 연속과 불연속을 동시에 포착할 수 있는 시기로 본다. 이 시기의 연구대상으로 삼을 수 있는 것은 자본주의로의 이행에서 화폐와 시장, 도시연구이다. 화폐는 자본주의로의 전환을 대표하는 것이며 시장과 도시는 봉건제로부터 지역주의로의 이행에서 진정한 의미를 갖는다. 도시는 화폐와 시장의 경제활동이 집중된 곳으로 자본주의 경제의 특성을 파악할 수 있는 지역이다. 한국사회에서 개항에서 일제강점기까지의 화폐와 시장, 도시에 대한 역사지리적 연구는 자본주의의 형성과정과 관련되어 연구되어질 수 있다. 한국에서 화폐와 시장이라는 렌즈를 통해 식민지 도시를 연구하는 것은 자본주의로의 이행시기에 대한 역사지리적 접근에 있어 구체적 총체성을 담아 낼 수 있는 주제이다.

임적조사사업(林籍調査事業)(1910)에 관한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Forest Survey Project(1910))

  • 본 논문에서는 임적조사사업(林籍調査事業)(1910)의 수립 배경, 실시 과정, 결과 및 평가와 이 사업을 바탕으로 만들어진 "한국임야정리(韓國林野整理)에 관한 의견서(意見書)"가 일제의 초기 식민지 임정에 끼친 영향력을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 임적조사사업(林籍調査事業)은 일본인 관료 목내중사랑(木內重四郞)과 재등음작(齋藤音作)의 주도하에 조선의 소유별, 임상별 산림분포를 파악하고자 실행되었다. 그러나 경비부족과 짧은 조사기간으로 인해 조사의 정확도는 매우 낮았다. 특히 북부지방의 많은 촌락공유림(村落共有林)과 특수지역림(特殊地役林)이 임적조사사업(林籍調査事業)의 간략성(簡略性)과 자의성(恣意性)으로 인해 "관리기관이 없는 국유림"으로 편입되었다. 그럼에도 당시 일제는 이 조사결과를 바탕으로 조선의 임야정리에 관한 정책을 수립하였다. 이 정책은 "한국임야정리(韓國林野整理)에 관한 의견서(意見書)"로 종합되었는데, 그 중 임야정리에 관한 제안은 이후 삼림령(森林令)(1911) 및 일련의 임야정리과정을 거치면서 구체적이고 구속력을 더한 식민지 임정으로 현실화되었다. 결론적으로 임적조사사업(林籍調査事業)은 조사의 정확도는 떨어지지만, 일제 강점기 초기 식민지 조선의 임정을 수립하는데 가장 기초적인 자료로서 이용되었고 "한국임야정리(韓國林野整理)에 관한 의견서(意見書)"는 임야정리(林野整理)에 관한 구체적인 방향(方向)과 식민지 임정의 각론(各論)을 수립하는데 결정적인 역할을 한 정책제안서(政策提案書)라고 볼 수 있다.

일기를 통해 본 한말${\sim}$일제강점기 양반소지주의 활동공간 - 류형업의 "기어"를 자료로 - (Activity Space of Yangban Landlords during the Colonial Era : Based on the Kieo written by Ryu Hyeong-eop -)

  • 본 연구는 한말에서 일제강점기에 이르는 시기를 살았던 류형업이 38년 동안 쓴 생활일기인 $\ulcorner$기어$\lrcorner$를 이용하여 양반소지주의 일생에 걸친 활동공간(active space)을 분석하였다. 일기내용 중에서 외출기록을 추출하여 연령${\cdot}$외출 목적 및 목적지${\cdot}$기간 별로 정리하고. 이를 분석하여 생애주기(life-cycle)에 따른 공간 활동의 복원을 시도하였다. 그 결과, 류형업의 공간 활동은 나이가 많아질수록 꾸준히 증가하고, 활동공간 역시 계속해서 확대되었다. 청년기의 활동공간은 좁았고 특정한 장소에 편중되었으나, 장년기에 점차 확장되어 중년기에 가장 광역적인 공간 활동이 이루어졌다. 외출의 목적도 나이가 들수록 다양해짐을 확인할 수 있었는데. 이것은 집안과 지역사회 내에서의 역할 변화, 시대상황의 변천 등에 의해 비롯되었다. 한편 당일 외출과 숙박을 포함한 외출의 지역 범위를 통해 당시의 일일생활권을 짐작해 볼 수 있었다.

한국 정치극의 전개 양상 - 1920년대부터 80년대까지의 정치극운동을 중심으로 - (The Development Aspects of Korean Political Theatre Movement)

  • This paper investigates the development and aesthetics of Korean political theatre from its quickening period 1920s to democratization era 1990s. Political theatre before 90s developed an antithesis resistant movement toward Korean modern history that had been scattered with suppressing political circumstances such as colonial era and dictatorial government, the movement has powerful activity and social influences. Just like the 20 century political theatre had been quickened under the influence of Marxism at Russia and Germany in 1920s, Korea's political theatre began in socialism theatre movement form around the same time. Proletarian theatre groups had been founded in Japan and Korea, and developed into practical movement with organized connection. However, the political theatre movement in Japanese colonial era was an empty vessel makes great sound but not much accomplishments. Most performance had been canceled or disapproved by suppression or censorship of the Japanese Empire. The political theatre in liberation era was the left drama inherited from Proletarian theatre of the colonial era. Korean Theatre alliance took lead the theatrical world unfold activities based on theatre popularization theory such as 'culture activists' taking a jump up the line and 'independent theatre' peeping into production spot as well as the important event, Independence Movement Day Memorial tournament theatre. Since 1947, US army military government in Korea strongly oppressed the left performances to stop and theatrical movement was ended due to many left theatrical people defection to North Korea. The political theatre in 1960s to 70s the Park regime, developed in dramatically different ways according to orthodox group and group out of power. The political theatre of institutional system handled judgment on sterile people and had indirect political theatre from that took history material and allegory technique because of censorship. In political theatre out of institution, it started outdoor theatre that has modernized traditional performance style and established deep relationship with labor spot and culture movement organizations. Madangguek(Outdoor theatre) is 'Attentive political theatre', satirizing and offending the political and social inconsistencies such as the dictatorial government's oppression and unbalanced distribution, alienation of general people, and foreign powers' pillage sharply as well as laughing at the Establishment with negative characters. The political theatre in 1980s is divided into two categories; political theatre of institutional system and Madangguek. Institutional Political theatre mainly performed in Korea Theatre Festival and the theatre group 'Yeonwoo-Moudae' led political theatre as private theatre company. Madangguek developed into an outdoor theatrical for indoor theatre capturing postcolonial historical view. Yeonwoo-Moudae theatre company produced representative political plays at 80s such as The chronicles of Han's, Birds fly away too, and so on by combining freewheeling play spirit of Madangguek and epic theatre. Political theatre was all the rage since the age of democratization started in 1987 and political materials has been freed from ban. However, political theatre was slowly declined as real socialism was crumbling and postmodernism is becoming the spirit of the times. After 90s, there are no more plays of ideology and propaganda that aim at politicization of theatre. As the age rapidly entered into the age of deideology, political theatre discourse also changed greatly. The concept 'the political' became influential as a new political possibility that stands up to neoliberalism system in the evasion of politics. Rather than reenact political issues, it experiments new political theatre that involves something political by deconstructing and reassigning audience's political sense with provocative forms, staging others and drawing discussion about it.
