A Combining Dynamic Graph of Added Variable Plot and Component plus Residual Plot

  • Added variable plot and component-plus-residual plot are very useful for studying the role of a predictor in classical regression analysis. The former is usually used to check the effect of adding a new variable to existing model. The latter has been suggested as computationally convenient substitutes for the added variable plots, however, this plot is found to be better in detecting nonlinear relationships of a new predictor. By combining these two plots dynamically, we can take advantages of two plots simultaneously. And even further, we can get some knowledge of collinearity between a new predictor and predictors already in the model, and more accurate information about the possible outliers.

  • We can use the ridge regression as a means for stabilizing the coefficient estimators in the fitted model when performing experiments in highly constrained regions causes collinearity problems in mixture experiments. But there is no theory available on which to base statistical inference of ridge estimators. The bootstrap could be used to seek the confidence intervals of ridge estimators.

  • An overview will be given on recent Mossbauer and magnetization investigation of the applied field dependence of the magnetic properties of typical systems without strong magnetic anisotropy and showing the absence of magnetic saturation in high fields (including iron-rich spin glass (amorphous $Fe_{93}Zr_{7}$, soft ferromagnets (amorphous $Fe_{88}Zr_{12}$, $Fe_{70}Ni_{20}Zr_{10}$ and $Fe_{88}B_{12}$) and pure Fe). The results emphasize that shape anisotropy due to surface irregularities causes misalignment between the magnetization and the applied field in the otherwise collinear magnetic structure.

  • Traditionally in IS studies, the relationship between construct and its measurement items tends to be assumed to be reflective, meaning that the measurements are a reflection of the construct. In reality, however, the nature of the construct can be often formative, which means that its measurement items describe and define the construct rather than vice versa. The purpose of this study was to investigate theoretical and empirically-analysed differences between formative construct and reflective construct through comprehensive interdisciplinary literature review. And then on the basis of these differences, we intended to derive the rule of specifying whether the construct is formative or reflective and propose the methodology of testing the validity(content validity, construct validity, internal consistency and external construct) of formative construct and its measurements, differentiated from that in the case of reflective construct. Also, we suggested the concrete statistical testing methods such as VTT(Vanishing Tetrad Test), MIMIC(Multiple Indicators and Multiple Causes) test and multi-collinearity test. In order to examine the applicability of this methodology to developing the constructs for performance evaluation of IS(Information Systems), we tried to identify its attribute(formative or reflective) and test the validity for the construct arbitrarily chosen among them which had been derived in our previous IS performance evaluation study by using this methodology. The result of the examination was that the methodology proposed in this study was significantly valid and effective in the area of IS performance evaluation.

  • 표준화된 중회귀모형에서 다중공선성(multicollinearity)이 존재할 때, 공선성(collinearity)의 영향을 완화하기 위해서 능형회귀가 사용된다. 반응변수의 예측을 위한 기준으로서 반응변 수의 예측치의 평균제곱합(MSE)을 설명변수의 관심영역 R에서 적분한(IMSE) $J_w(k)$ 기 준이 Lim, Choi & Park(1980)에 의해 소개되었다. $C_k$기준이 설명변수의 관심영역 R상 에서의 가중치 함수인 w(x)가 각각의 자료점에서 등확률 1/n을 갖는 경우의 IMSE 기준인 $J_n(k)$ 기준과 동치라는 관계를 이용함으로 $C_k$ 기준에 대해서 Myers(1986)에 의해 주어진 k의 선택방법 보다 더 합리적이라 기대되는 k의 선택방법이 제시되었다. 다음으로 관심이 있는 모든 기준들에 대해서 상대적으로 효율이 좋은 능형회귀추정량 $\beta(k)$를 선택하기 위해서, 관심이 있는 기준들 간의 가장 나쁜 효율을 최대화한다는 의미에서 MiniMax 원칙을 채택하여 관심이 있는 기준들에 대해서 로버스트한 k의 선택방법을 제시 하였다.

Rigorous Modeling of the First Generation of the Reconnaissance Satellite Imagery

  • In the mid 90's, the U.S. government released images acquired by the first generation of photo reconnaissance satellite missions between 1960 and 1972. The Declassified Intelligent Satellite Photographs (DISP) from the Corona mission are of high quality with an astounding ground resolution of about 2 m. The KH-4A panoramic camera system employed a scan angle of $70^{\circ}$ that produces film strips with a dimension of $55\;mm\;{\times}\;757\;mm$. Since GPS/INS did not exist at the time of data acquisition, the exterior orientation must be established in the traditional way by using control information and the interior orientation of the camera. Detailed information about the camera is not available, however. For reconstructing points in object space from DISP imagery to an accuracy that is comparable to high resolution (a few meters), a precise camera model is essential. This paper is concerned with the derivation of a rigorous mathematical model for the KH-4A/B panoramic camera. The proposed model is compared with generic sensor models, such as affine transformation and rational functions. The paper concludes with experimental results concerning the precision of reconstructed points in object space. The rigorous mathematical panoramic camera model for the KH-4A camera system is based on extended collinearity equations assuming that the satellite trajectory during one scan is smooth and the attitude remains unchanged. As a result, the collinearity equations express the perspective center as a function of the scan time. With the known satellite velocity this will translate into a shift along-track. Therefore, the exterior orientation contains seven parameters to be estimated. The reconstruction of object points can now be performed with the exterior orientation parameters, either by intersecting bundle rays with a known surface or by using the stereoscopic KH-4A arrangement with fore and aft cameras mounted an angle of $30^{\circ}$.

GOES-9 영상의 정밀기하보정을 위한 여러 센서모델 분석 (Investigation of Sensor Models for Precise Geolocation of GOES-9 Images)

  • 위성영상의 한 점과 그에 대응하는 지상점의 관계를 수학적으로 나타낸 것을 센서모델이라고 한다. 위성영상의 정밀기하보정을 위해서는 오차가 없는 센서모델이 필요하다. 그러나 IMC가 꺼진 상태에서 제공된 GOES-9 궤도 데이터에 기반한 센서모델은 오차가 존재한다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 공선 방정식 기반 모델, DLT 기반 모델, 궤도-자세 기반 모델의 세 가지 센서모델에 대하여 실험을 진행하였다. 실험에서는 위성영상과 해안선 데이터베이스를 정합시켜 성공한 결과를 기준점으로 사용하였다. 이렇게 선택된 기준점으로 세 가지 센서모델을 이용하여 GOES-9 영상에 적용시켜 초기 기하보정 정확도를 향상시키고 세 모델간의 정확도를 비교하였다. 최종적으로 궤도-자세 기반 모델이 GOES-9 영상의 정밀기하보정에 가장 적합한 센서 모델임을 증명하였다.

비접근 지역의 SPOT 위성 모델링에 관한 연구 (A Study on Modeling of SPOT Satellite for Inaccessible Area)

  • The purpose of this paper is to estimate the attitude and the position of SPOT satellite which are needed in producing DEM(Digital Elevation Model) using SPOT satellite image pairs. DEM extraction is consists of three parts. First part is the modeling of satellite position and atitude, second part is the matching of two images to find corresponding point of them and third part is to calculate the elevation of each point by using the result of the first and second part. For modeling inaccessible area, extended modeling algorithm which removes the GCP(Ground Control Point) most errorneous from the GCPs extracted from map iteratively is proposed According to the experiments using a collinearity equation, the second order polynomials are shown to the optimal for .omega.(pitch), and Zs parameters while the first order ones for .kappa.(yaw) .PHI.(roll), Xs, and Ys parameters. The input images used in this paper are 6000*6000 level 1A panchromatic digital SPOT images of Chungchong-do, Korea. With 30 GCPs, experiments on SPOT images show that the planimetric and altimetric RMS errors are 7.11m and 7.10m, respectively, for test points.

Estimation of Source Contribution for PM10 by Chemical Mass Balance(CMB) in Busan

  • PM10 samples were collected from July 2007 to Oct. 2007 at Gwaebopdong(inland area) and Dongsamdong(coastal area), in Busan. This paper investigates the contribution of emission sources to PM10 mass in Busan. Source apportionment results derived from the chemical mass balance(CMB) method. A source profiles applied in this study is organized to minimize the collinearity among sources type via statistical method. Source profiles applied in this study utilized a measured value of fine particle directly sampled from metropolitan area such as Seoul and Incheon, After a CMB modeling, sulfate and nitrate related sources among those contributing to PM10 in Busan showed high contribution by 36.53% in Gwaebopdong and 42.02% in Dongsamdong.

  • 혼합물실험에서 제한된 영역 때문에 공선성문제가 발생하면 회귀계수에 대한 추정값이 매우 불안정하게 되므로 이를 해결하기 위하여 우리는 주로 능형추정량을 사용한다. 이 때 붓스트랩 기법을 사용하면 능형추정량에 대한 붓스트랩 신뢰구간을 구할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 제한된 영역을 갖는 혼합물실험의 한 예를 통하여 붓스트랩 잔차 방법과 붓스트랩 쌍 방법 각각에 대하여 능형회귀추정량에 대한 붓스트랩 신뢰구간을 구하고 서로 비교하였다.
