Decreased Expression of LKB1 Correlates with Poor Prognosis in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients Undergoing Hepatectomy

  • Aim: To study any correlation of LKB1 expression with prognosis in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cases. Methods: A total of 70 HCC patients and 20 primary intrahepatic stone patients in the first affiliated hospital of Wenzhou Medical College were enrolled in this study. LKB1 expression was detected by immunohistochemistry. Patients were followed-up and prognostic factors were evaluated. Result: LKB1 expression was decreased in the HCC samples. Loss of LKB1 expression in HCC was significantly related to histologic grade (P=0.010), vascular invasion (P=0.025) and TMN stage (P=0.011). Patients showing negative LKB1 expression had a significantly shorter disease-free and overall survival than those with positive expression (P = 0.001, P=0.000, respectively). Multivariate Cox regression analysis indicated that LKB1 expression level was an independent factor of survival (P = 0.033). Conclusion: HCC patients with decreased expression LKB1 have a poor prognosis. The loss of LKB1 expression is correlated with a lower survival rate.

Simultaneous Determination of Prostaglandin E1 and Prostaglandin E1 Ethyl Ester in Hairless Mouse Skin Homogenate by High-Performance Liquid Chromatography

  • A rapid and specific high-performance liquid chromatographic method was developed and validated for the simultaneous determination of prostaglandin $E_{1}\;(PGE_{1})$ and prostaglandin $E_{1}$ ethyl ester $(PGE_{1}-EE)$ in hairless mouse skin homogenate. The sample treatment procedure involved deproteination and precipitation by acetonitrile. $PGE_{1}$ and $PGE_{1}-EE$ in supernatant were separated in a reversed-phase C18 column without being interfered by other components present in hairless mouse skin homogenate. 9-Anthracenecarboxylic acid was used as an internal standard. The retention times of $PGE_{1}$, 9-anthracenecarboxylic acid and $PGE_{1}-EE$ were, 4.5, 9.5 and 18.0 min, respectively. The assay showed linearity from 1 to $40\;{\mu}g/ml$ for both $PGE_{1}$ and $PGE_{1}-EE$. Precision expressed as RSD ranged from 2.3 to 14.1 % for $PGE_{1}$ and 1.6 to 11.0% for $PGE_{1}-EE$. Accuracy ranged from 100.5 to 119.6 % for $PGE_{1}$ and from 98.0 to 103.7% for $PGE_{1}-EE$. This method was employed successfully to follow the time course of concentrations of $PGE_{1}$ and $PGE_{1}-EE$ in hairless mouse skin homogenate for stability study.

보건계열 대학생의 인성과 대인관계가 대학생활 적응에 미치는 융합 연구 (The Convergence Study effected of Adjustment to College life in Character, interpersonal relationship of health-related college)

  • 본 연구는 G시에 소재한 보건계열 대학생 220명을 대상으로 인성, 대인관계가 대학생활 적응에 미치는 영향 요인을 조사하였다. 조사는 2017년 8월 1일부터 12월 30일까지 설문조사가 시행되었으며, 연구결과 대학생의 인성수준은 평균 3.49점(1-5점), 대인관계는 평균 3.40점(1-5점), 대학생활 적응은 평균 3.33점(1-5점)으로 중간수준이었다. 인성, 대인관계, 대학생활 적응간의 관계는 대학생활 적응과 인성(r=.62, p<.001), 대학생활 적응과 대인관계(r=.80, p<.001), 전공만족과 대학생활 적응(r=-r=-.32, p<.001)은 통계적으로 유의한 중정도수준을 보였다. 보건계열 대학생의 대인관계가 좋을수록, 인성의 행동영역 수준이 높을수록, 대학생활 적응을 잘하는 것으로 나타났다 65%(F=102.97). 보건계열 대학생의 대학생활 적응을 향상시키기 위해서 대학 교육과정 내의 인성교육을 향상시킬 수 있는 표본화된 프로그램이 필요하다고 사료된다.
