Observations on Spatial Characteristics for Successful Smart Offices and Smart Work Centers

  • Advances in information and mobile technologies have changed the traditional firm ways of working very flexible, collaborative and innovative, resulting in the changes in work place structures and layouts. Despite the growing body of literature examining the novel ways of working, which is called smart work, there is little academic attentions paid to the spatial aspects of new work places, namely smart offices and smart work centers. This research explores the spatial changes of work places that improve business efficiency and collaboration among workers suitable for the novel ways of working. Conducting in-depth field surveys on selected cases, we analyzed the changes in spatial structure and operation policies of smart offices and smart work centers. From this survey, we observed that the new work places under study take various novel spatial forms and they have flexible operating policies such as flexible seating and flexible work hours. We also found that it would be difficult to change existing business practices and typical ways of performing tasks, without changing the bureaucratic spatial designs and layouts. Future studies are suggested to examine how spatial structures and layouts of offices have impacts on space utilization, collaboration, creativity, and job satisfaction.

  • 본 연구는 협력적 지식구축을 목적으로 하는 CSCL (Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning) 환경을 이용하여 교육주체간의 협동적 상호작용이 원활히 이루어질 수 있도록 하는 모바일 학급경영지원시스템을 구현하는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 위해 학급경영과 CSCL, 무선인터넷을 이론적으로 탐색하고 학급경영과 무선인터넷의 관계를 파악하여 학급경영을 지원하는 모바일 학급경영지원 시스템의 설계요소 및 전략을 수립하였다. 이를 기반으로 모바일 학급경영지원시스템을 설계하고 개발하였다.

  • 현장실습교육과정은 학생에게는 산업현장의 생생한 체험 기회를 제공하고, 기업에서는 적은 임금으로 수요에 적합한 고급인력을 활용할 수 있도록 하며, 대학은 산업현장에서 요구되는 인력수요에 보다 유연하게 대처할 수 있는 21세기형 새로운 산학협동교육 시스템을 지향하고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 최근 대학 교육 패러다임의 전환 요구와 함께 현장실습교육이 급격하게 요구받고 있는 실정에서 현장실습에서 학습자의 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석해 보고, 산업단지 캠퍼스의 현장실습 개선방향을 제시해 보고자 하였다.

코로나시대 물류 서비스 관련 분야 직장인의 언택트 업무 사례 연구 (A Case Study of Untact Works in Logistic Service-related Worker in the Era of COVID-19)

  • The purpose of this study was to research the status of logistic service-related workers about untact works by case study in the Era of COVID-19. An experimental design was used by case analysis of interviews with ten office workers from May to June 2020. The results of this research were divided into three categories: work environment, work management and work effect. First, teleworking has a significantly positive influence on business efficiency about work environment. ZOOM, One drive, Skype, Chatbot, Microsoft Teams and Remote view are used as collaborative applications. Second, work instructions in documents are needed such as e-mail and messenger using information and communication technology about work management. Third, the strong points of teleworking are both high work efficiency and job satisfaction about work effect. The weak points of teleworking are both very low-technology and misunderstanding about work effect. The result offer some insights into the case study of logistic service-related workers about untact works. Based on the results, the implications and the limitations of this study were discussed.

An AI-based Clothing Design Process Applied to an Industry-university Fashion Design Class

  • This research aims to develop based clothing design process tailored to the industry-university collaborative setting and apply it in a fashion design class. into three distinct phases: designing and organizing our fashion design class, conducting our class at a university, and gathering student feedback. First, we conducted a literature review on employing new technologies in traditional clothing design processes. We consulted with industry professionals from the Samsung C&T Fashion Group to develop an AI-based clothing design process. We then developed in-class learning activities that leveraged fashion brand product databases, a supervised learning AI model, and operating an AI-based Creativity Support Tool (CST). Next, we setup an industry-university fashion design class at a university in South Korea. Finally, we obtained feedback from undergraduate students who participated in the class. The survey results showed a satisfaction level of 4.7 out of 5. The evaluations confirmed that the instructional methods, communication, faculty, and student interactions within the class were both adequate and appropriate. These research findings highlighted that our AI-based clothing design process applied within the fashion design class led to valuable data-driven convergent thinking and technical experience beyond that of traditional clothing design processes.

Practical strategies for the prevention and management of chronic postsurgical pain

  • Chronic postsurgical pain (CPSP) is a multifactorial condition that affects a significant proportion of patients undergoing surgery. The prevention and management of CPSP require the identification of preoperative risk factors to screen high-risk patients and establish appropriate perioperative pain management plans to prevent its development. Active postoperative pain management should be provided to prevent CPSP in patients with severe pain following surgery. These tasks have become important for perioperative team members in the management of CPSP. This review article provides a comprehensive overview of the latest research on the role of perioperative team members in preventing and managing CPSP. Additionally, it highlights practical strategies that can be employed in clinical practice, covering the definition and risk factors for CPSP, including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative factors, as well as a risk prediction model. The article also explores various treatments for CPSP, as well as preventive measures, including preemptive analgesia, regional anesthesia, pharmacological interventions, psychoeducational support, and surgical technique modification. This article emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive perioperative pain management plan that includes multidisciplinary interventions, using the transitional pain service as an example. By adopting a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach, perioperative team members can improve patient outcomes, enhance patient satisfaction, and reduce healthcare costs. However, further research is necessary to establish targeted interventions to effectively prevent and manage CPSP.

COVID-19시기의 예비간호사 training을 위한 학생주도 팀기반 문제중심학습 시뮬레이션 수업 효과검증 (Verification of the Effects of Student-led Simulation with Team and Problem-Based Learning Class Training during COVID-19)

  • 본 연구는 간호대학생을 대상으로 학생주도 팀기반 문제중심학습 시뮬레이션 (SSTPBL) 수업을 개발하고 그 효과를 검증하기 위한 혼합연구이다. 자료수집은 2022년 9월 15일부터 2022년 10월 20일까지 A시 소재 일개 대학 간호학과 4학년 학생 51명에게 설문조사 및 4명을 대상으로 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 진행하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS version 25.0과 주제분석을 활용하여 분석하였다. 양적연구 결과, 시뮬레이션 경험 만족도(t = 3.51, p < .01), vSim 경험 만족도(t = 3.50, p < .01), 예비 간호사로서의 준비 정도(t = 3.73, p < .01), 학습 자기효능감(t = 3.87, p < .01), 협력적 자기효능감(t = 4.30, p < .01), 문제해결 능력(t = 5.26, p < .01), 교육 만족도(t = 3.54, p < .01), 디지털 헬스 형평성(t = 2.18, p < .05)을 향상시키는 데 효과가 있었다. 질적연구에서 도출된 6개 주제는 '임상실습과 유사함', '몰입에 어려움', '타인을 통해 배워감', '자기반성을 통한 배움', '새로운 경험을 통한 자신감 향상', '새로운 수업방식'이었다. 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 팬데믹 이후 임상실습 제한이 커지고 있는 상황에서 학생주도 팀기반 문제중심학습 시뮬레이션 (SSTPBL) 수업이 예비간호사들의 새로운 훈련 방법으로 다양하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

세렌디피티 지표를 이용한 추천시스템의 품질 평가 (Evaluating the Quality of Recommendation System by Using Serendipity Measure)

  • 최근 추천시스템의 품질평가 관점에서 이에 대한 다양한 연구들이 진행되고 있다. 추천시스템은 기본적으로 사용자들에게 특정 아이템에 대한 개인화된 추천을 제공하는데 목적이 있으며, 대부분의 추천시스템은 항상 사용자 또는 아이템과 가장 관련 있는 아이템을 추천한다. 그리고 이러한 추천시스템의 성과는 전통적으로 다양한 예측정확도 등에 초점을 두어 왔다. 그러나, 추천시스템은 예측가능성 차원에서 정확해야 할 뿐만 아니라 사용자들에게 유용해야 한다. 특히 최근의 추천시스템에 대한 연구로서, 추천시스템의 평가기준에 속하는, 추천시스템에 대한 사용자 만족도(품질)는 추천시스템이 얼마나 정확하게 추천하느냐 뿐만 아니라 사용자의 의사결정에 얼마나 충분히 도움이 되는지와 관계가 깊다. 예를 들어, 특히 높은 수준의 세렌디티피한 추천은 사용자들이 뜻밖의 아이템이면서 흥미로운 아이템을 찾는데 도움이 된다. 여기서, 세렌디피티란 추천 아이템이 사용자에게 매력적인 동시에 뜻밖의(비기대성의) 아이템인 정도를 의미한다. 본 연구는 추천시스템의 성과를 나타내는 세렌디피티 지표를 추천시스템에 적용하여 추천시스템의 품질을 평가하는 것을 목표로 한다. 본 연구에서는 세렌디피티 지표는 관련성(매력)이 있는 동시에 뜻밖인(비기대성의) 아이템을 추천하는 정도로 정의하고, 이 세렌디피티 지표를 측정하기 위해, 추천시스템이 사용자들에게 예상치 못한 유용한 아이템을 찾을 수(또는 추천할 수) 있는 정도를 평가하였다. 본 연구의 주요 실증분석결과로는, 아이템기반 협력 필터링 기법이 사용자기반 협력 필터링 기법보다 더 높은 세렌디피티값을 가지며, 따라서, 추천시스템의 품질평가 차원에서 아이템기반 협력 필터링 기법은 사용자기반 협력 필터링 기법보다는 더 좋은 추천 품질을 갖고 있음을 보여 주었다.

협력은 항상 옳은가? 거래 의존성과 비선형 관계를 고려한 공급사슬 협력에 대한 재고찰 (Does it Always Pay to be Collaborative? Supply Chain Collaboration Revisited in the Consideration of Supplier-Buyer Dependence and Curvilinear Relationships)

  • Firms have reexamined and restructured their supply chain based on a long-term and partnership perspective as a firm's competitive advantage increasingly relies on its supply chain capability. A number of scholar works has provided evidence to support the positive effects of supply chain collaboration; however, the relationship between collaboration and performance is still inconclusive. This study refuses to have blinded faith on supply chain collaboration, but rather this paper suggests that the contribution of collaboration to supply chain performance improvement can be limited and vary along the contextual characteristics of a buyer-supplier relationship. Moreover, we argue that the relationship between supply chain collaboration and performance can be curvilinear. This paper provides and test hypotheses regarding the relationship between supply chain collaboration and performance. By using data of the Manufacturing Panel Survey (MPS), this study empirically validates the hypotheses. Overall, the results of the study support our hypotheses about a limited contribution of supply chain collaboration to manufacturing performance, which is opposite to a conventional expectation. Particularly, the effects of supply chain collaboration differ depending on the dimensions of performance such as customer satisfaction, quality, cost, delivery, and flexibility as well as the dependency in the buyer-supplier relationship. Moreover, the results of the study indicate that supply chain collaboration and performance may have curvilinear relationships in a certain context. Through a comprehensive model and empirical evidence, this study presents a better understanding of supply chain collaboration and provokes an open discussion about the effects of collaboration. This study also provides insightful implications for managers of buyers as well as suppliers who wish to foster stronger supply chain performance via a deep buyer-supplier relationship and collaboration.

Towards a Dialogic Approach: Crisis Communications and Public Reactions in the World's Most Densely Populated City to Tackle COVID-19

  • Macao, a special administrative region of China, has been able to maintain the records of zero deaths and keep confirmed cases under 50 since the outbreak of COVID-19 for more than half a year as of July 2020, despite being the world's most densely populated city. The current paper utilizes the dialogic public relations theory to analyze the situation using both literature review on how the various government actions and strategies during the pandemic were corresponding to the theory, and a quantitative random digital dialing (RDD) telephone survey, with a sample of 502 Macao residents aged 18 or above, to study the public reactions towards the government pandemic prevention actions. Survey results show a high level of public satisfaction towards epidemic prevention performance, as well as some forms of collaborative information redissemination behavior in social media platforms. Literature review and analysis from dialogic theory found that spirit of mutual equality, collaboration with local community, immediacy of presence in crisis time, engagements with stakeholders through maximum media channels and networks, supportiveness to public with both useful information and practical social support like subsidy program, as well as commitment to transparent and genuine communication, are all the dialogic communications strategies that describe what the Macao government has done in the crisis of COVID-19. The dialogic strategies that could be learned from the Macao government may be used as a reference for similar urbanized and densely populated cities in other territories.
