As spine surgery flourished in Taiwan and neurosurgeons became more involved in spine surgery towards the end of the 20th century, the Taiwan Neurosurgical Spine Society (TNSS), earlier named the Taiwan Neurospinal Society, was established on March 11, 2001. As its main founder, Dr. Chun-I Huang was elected as the first president of the TNSS. The goals of the TNSS were to promote research, to hold academic seminars, to participate in international conferences, and to exchange clinical experiences. The mission of the TNSS was successful, and the profession of spine surgery in Taiwan advanced during the first decade of the 21st century, culminating in the TNSS joining ASIA SPINE in 2010. Since its establishment, the TNSS has always been supportive of collaboration and communication with the Korean Spinal Neurosurgery Society and the Neurospinal Society of Japan. Through periodical meetings, supported by the TNSS, surgeons worldwide have enjoyed a platform of sharing and mutual learning. To further promote academic research, the TNSS has officially supported the journal Neurospine since 2018. With extensive efforts from local and international surgeons, the TNSS will continue to adhere to its mission and to advance the profession of spine surgery.
The purpose of this paper is to develop a training program for overseas Korean language teachers focus on preservice teacher. This thesis based on the 2017 Korean Language (prospective) Teacher Overseas Dispatch and Practical Training Assistance Project (Almaty, Kazakhstan region). The present task established prospective teachers, career teachers, and local teachers as the targets of each assignment. We focused on developing a program that could match each of these characteristics. For prospective teachers, the program was designed and conducted with the goal of "improving real expertise through practical training," whereas for career teachers the program was developed with the goal of "improving leadership" and "retraining teachers" by focusing on their abilities as middle managers to build and maintain foreign and domestic networks. For local teachers, the goal was to provide "retraining as Korean language teacher certification". The limitations of those unable to attend domestic meetings were alleviated through training, workshops, and meetings, and a program was developed for real education practical training. For prospective teachers and career teachers in particular, the program was designed to center on a system of collaboration in which classes based on international Project Based Learning(iPBL) were conducted, and groups prepared practical training and practice modules.

Perforated metal sheets are used as panels of facades for controlling environmental factors while ensuring user's visibility. Despite their functional potentials, only a specific direction of facades or an orientation of a building was considered in the relevant studies. This study proposed a design methodology for the perforated panel facades that reflects the location on the facades and the user's requirements. The optimization of quantitative and qualitative performance is achieved through communication between designers and users in a VR system. In optimizing quantitative performances, designers use machine learning techniques such as clustering and genetic algorithm to allocate optimal panels on the facades. In optimizing qualitative performances, through the VR system, users intervene in evaluating performances whose preferences are depending on them. The experiment using the office project showed that designers were able to make decisions based on clustering using GMM to optimize multiple quantitative performances. The gap between the target and final performance could be narrowed by limiting the types of perforated panels considering mass customization. In assessing visibility as a qualitative performance, users were able to participate in the design process using the VR system.

Makerspace offers an innovative way for university libraries to render services and achieve its core objectives. However, there is low level of adoption in Nigerian university libraries, hence the need to investigate the personnel's perception towards makerspace as an innovative learning platform. To achieve this, the descriptive research design was used to elicit data with the aid of a structured questionnaire, from the 96 library personnel in John Harris Library, University of Benin. Of the 96 copies of questionnaire distributed, 68 copies were returned and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that the library personnel were familiar with makerspace even though they still require more information about it. Also, that makerspace gives students the opportunity to acquire ew skill and enhances collaboration among learners. Moreover, the study revealed that budget constraints, high cost and maintenance of equipments, erratic power supply and lack of staff training are some of the perceived challenges to makerspace implementation. Consequently, the study revealed that university libraries should strategize on how to increase allocation of funds, organize makerspace webinar for personnel, ensure stable electricity supply and create a dedicated space for makerspace in the library. In conclusion, makerspace will provide students with the technological exposure and creative abilities required for the future, and as such effective planning should be made for its deployment and sustainability in Nigerian university libraries.

This study investigated the main concerns and strategies in Indonesian large family businesses to undertake intergenerational succession effectively. The research data was obtained to shed light on the incumbents' mindsets, key preferences, and experiences during the succession process. Access to incumbents of large family businesses that are conglomerates is scant. The preceding survey research was conducted to sensitize with the intricacy of the intergenerational succession process in large family businesses before entailing interpretative phenomenology analysis of qualitative data from interviews, observations, and field notes by approaching family members in five conglomerate groups that have major impacts on the economy. The findings explicate the incumbents' preferred criteria in choosing their successors as well as their perceived concerns revolving around the appointment. Additionally, the incumbents' succession approaches such as apprentice learning by successors, adaptability to external forces by successors, nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit in successors, governance establishment in the firms, business interest stimulation in successors, role modeling by incumbents, and collaboration between family and key non-family members are elicited during the intergenerational succession process. This study concluded with noteworthy implications for incumbents and successors in large family businesses, especially providing explicit criteria and strategies to appoint suitable successors, and suggesting potential avenues for future research.

Construction is a collaborative endeavor. The complexity in delivering construction projects successfully is impacted by the effective collaboration needs of a multitude of stakeholders throughout the project life-cycle. Technologies such as Building Information Modelling and relational project delivery approaches such as Alliancing and Integrated Project Delivery have developed to address this conundrum. However, with the onset of the pandemic, the digital economy has surged world-wide and advances in technology such as in the areas of machine learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) have grown deep roots across specializations and domains to the point of matching its capabilities to the human mind. Several recent studies have both explored the role of AI in the construction process and highlighted its benefits. In contrast, literature in the organization studies field has highlighted the fear that tasks currently done by humans will be done by AI in future. Motivated by these insights and with the understanding that construction is a labour intensive sector where knowledge is both fragmented and predominantly tacit in nature, this paper explores the integration of AI in construction processes across project phases from planning, scheduling, execution and maintenance operations using literary evidence and experiential insights. The findings show that AI can complement human skills rather than provide a substitute for them. This preliminary study is expected to be a stepping stone for further research and implementation in practice.
Rapid development of educational technology requires fundamental changes not only in the form of instruction and role of teachers in school education but also in the competency development of students. Specifically, the emergence of new technologies such as makerspace, virtual reality (VR), and robotics has made it more challenging for teachers and students in the 21st century. However, even with the argument for the changes, less has been discussed about how much in-service teachers are aware of and how they are preparing for such changes. Therefore, this study intends to explore what would be required to students and teachers, and for instructional changes with more technologies available through the lens of elementary school teachers. The study results suggest, similar to previous studies, in-service elementary teachers recognize that student competencies such as creativity, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills are important. They also perceived that teacher change in role and attitude, and for instructional method and classroom culture are crucial as catalysts of change. Unique and interesting finding from this study is about the importance of nurturing digital citizenship in technology-infused learning environment. The digital citizenship has been less highlighted in the past, but this study revealed it should be treated as a priority.

Several studies have attempted to test students' misconceptions of physics and to provide teaching strategies in order to repair them. The results from these studies have revealed that the diagnosis of students' misconception is crucial, although they often failed to grasp the practice of its implementation. In terms of being a type of methodology for science education, the Internet allows large-scale surveys and investigations to be carried out in a relatively short period of time. This paper reports the results of the development, implementation, and evaluation of a WEb-based SYStem for TEsting students' Misconceptions in physics (WEBSYSTEM) aimed at three groups (science educational researchers who study students' physics conceptions using the system as a detector, school science teachers who practice it as an instructional material, and students who benefit from it for their self-directed learning). The web-based testing system is based on a review of the instructional development strategies of ADDIE (Gustafson, Branch, 2002; Rha, Chung, 2001). Results showed that WEBSYSTEM could work effectively as a multi-purposed tool for the three target groups with a further partial revision, providing educational researchers with resourceful data to study students' misconceptions in physics. Issues of administrative strategies, reexamination of questionnaires, and international collaboration via WEBSYSTEM are discussed.

The most important factor in students' growth and development is the teacher. Therefore in-service science teacher education to develop the professionality is important as well as the selection of new excellence teachers. Our research is on the development and application of new education program on science experiments where in-service teachers become the lecturers in the program and provide information that is bound to the context of real lessons. This program is consisted of following 10 steps of work, which was implemented in 5 months: sharing the philosophy of the program, selecting science experiments, first application of the experiments, discussion on the first application, learning how to edit the movie clips of the lesson, second application of the experiments, in depth discussion on the second application, developing the experiment package, giving lecture to other science teachers, and evaluating the program. We describe the process of the program developed and implemented in detail to suggest a model of science teacher education program on science experiments and discuss educational implications. This program is characterized by the emphasis of the context closely linked to the real lessons, the problem solving in a real situation, and the collaboration of teachers, professors and science education researcher in a teacher education.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to analyze the clinical practice experience and environment of dental hygiene students, and to determine how these factors relate to their dental hygiene professionalism. The aim was to provide data necessary to improve the clinical practice environment and promote professionalism in dental hygiene. Methods: A survey was conducted in August 2023 among dental hygiene students from five randomly selected universities in the metropolitan area. Data analysis methods included t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The main influencing factors of dental hygiene professionalism were the quality of instruction in the clinical practice, opportunities for learning, preparedness for students, and satisfaction with the practice institution (p<0.05). There was a significant positive correlation between the clinical practice environment and all sub-items of dental hygiene professionalism (p<0.05). Conclusions: The results of this study emphasize that the choice of practice institution is very important to enhance dental hygiene professionalism, and close collaboration between universities and practice institutions is highlighted to improve the quality of clinical practice guidance and opportunities for participation.
