Shape memory alloy has been used to improve the tensile strength of composite by the occurrence of compressive residual stress in matrix using its shape memory effect. In order to fabricate shape memory alloy composite, TiNi alloy and A16061 were used as reinforcing material and mix, respectively. In this study, TiNi/A16061 shape memory alloy composite was made by using hot press method. However, the specimen fabricated by this method had the bonding problem at the boundary between TiNi fiber and Al matrix when the load was applied to it. A cold rolling was imposed to the specimen to improve the bonding effect. It was found that tensile strength of specimen subjected to cold rolling was more increased than that of specimen which did not underwent cold rolling. In addition, acoustic emission technique was used to quantify the microscopic damage behavior of cold rolled TiNi/A16061 shape memory alloy composite at high temperature.
Recently Digital TV industry has drastically been moving the illuminating system, which causes an obvious product change from PDP and LCD to LED model to provide high-definition image. Due to strong competition in the digital industry, TV manufacturers make a great efforts to reduce production cost by using low-priced materials such as steels instead of aluminum and plastic etc. In this paper we have developed a new low-priced electrogalvanized steel sheet, which has a black resin composite layer, to substitute conventional high-priced PCM steel and plastic mold for rear cover panel in the digital TV. The black resin composite was prepared by mechanical dispersion of the mixture solution that consists of high solid polyester resin, melamine hardener, black pigment, micronized silica paste, polyacrylate texturing particle and miscellaneous additives. The composite solution was coated on the steel sheet using roll coater followed by induction furnace curing and cooling. Although the coated layer has a half thickness compared to the conventional PCM steels having $23{\mu}m$ thickness, it exhibits excellent quality for the usage of rear cover panel. The new steel sheet was applied to test products to get quality certification from worldwide electronic appliance customers. Detailed discussion provides in this paper including preparation of composite solution, roll coating technology, induction curing technology and quality evaluation from customers.
The $Al/Al_2O_3$ composites fabricated by powder in sheath rolling method were cold-rolled by 50% reduction and annealed for 1.8 ks at various temperatures ranging from 200 to 50$0^{\circ}C$, for improvement of the mechanical properties. The mechanical properties and texture of the composites after rolling and annealing were investigated. The tensile strength of the composites increased significantly due to work hardening after cold rolling, however it decreased due to restoration after annealing. The strength of the composites was improved by thermo mechanical treatment. On the other hand, the texture evolution with annealing temperatures wa,i different between the unreinforced material and the composites. The unreinforced material showed a deformation (rolling) texture of which main component is {112}<111> at annealing temperatures up to 30$0^{\circ}C$. However, the composites have already exhibited a recrystallization texture of which main component is {001}<100> after annealing at 20$0^{\circ}C$. This proves that the critical temperature for recrystailization is lower in the composites than in the unreinforced ones.
The effect of cold rolling on the microstructural evolution in 22Cr-0.2N micro-duplex stainless steel was investigated. The 22Cr-xNi-yMn-0.2N duplex stainless steel plates with various Ni and Mn contents were fabricated. The steels were vacuum induction melted and hot rolled, followed by annealing treatment at the temperature range of $1000-1100^{\circ}C$, in which both the austenite and ferrite phases were stable. The volume fraction of the ferrite phase depending on the alloy compositions of Ni and Mn increased with an increase in the annealing temperature. Grain growth in the ferrite phase occurred markedly after cold rolling followed by annealing, while fine recrystallised grains were still found in the austenite phase. A large number of martensite laths was found in the microstructure of cold rolled steels, which should be formed by strain-induced martensite from the austenite phase. The intersections of stacking faults were revealed by TEM observation. The volume fraction of the martensite phase increased with an increase of the reduction ratio by cold rolling.
Grain-oriented electrical steel sheets are mainly used as core materials for transformers and motors. They should have excellent magnetic properties such as low core loss, high magnetic flux density and high permeability. In order to improve the magnetic properties of the electrical steel sheet, it is important to form Goss oriented grains with a very strong {110}<001> orientation. Recently, efforts have been made to develop Goss grains by controlling processes such as hot rolling, cold rolling, and primary and secondary recrystallization. In this study, the sheets containing 3.2 and 3.4wt.% Si were used, which were rolled with 1 and 10 passes with total thickness reduction of 89%. Heating was carried out for primary recrystallization with different heating rates of $25^{\circ}C/s$ and $24^{\circ}C/min$ until $720^{\circ}C$. The behavior of Goss-, {411}<148>-, and {111}<112>-oriented grains were analyzed using X-ray diffraction(XRD) and electron back-scatter diffraction(EBSD) analysis. The area fraction of Goss-oriented grains increased with the number of rolling passes during cold rolling; however, after the primary recrystallization, the area fraction of the Goss grains was higher and exact Goss grains were found in the specimens subjected to rapid heating after one rolling pass.
A cold roll-bonding process was applied to fabricate an AA1050/AA6061/AA1050 laminate complex sheet. Two AA1050 and one AA6061 sheets of 2 mm thickness, 40 mm width and 300 mm length were stacked up after surface treatment that included degreasing and wire brushing; material was then reduced to a thickness of 3 mm by one-pass cold rolling. The laminate sheet bonded by the rolling was further reduced to 1.2 mm in thickness by conventional rolling. The rolling was performed at ambient temperature without lubricant using a 2-high mill with a roll diameter of 210 mm. The rolling speed was 5.0 m/sec. The AA1050/AA6061/AA1050 laminate complex sheet fabricated by roll bonding was then hardened by natural aging T4) and artificial aging (T6) treatments. The microstructures of the as-roll bonded and the age hardened Al complex sheets were revealed by optical microscope observation; the mechanical properties were investigated by tensile testing and hardness testing. The strength of the as-roll bonded complex sheet was found to increase by 2.9 times compared to that value of the starting material. In addition, the hardness of the complex sheets increased with cold rolling for AA1050 and age-hardening treatment for AA6061, respectively. After heat treatment, both AA1050 and AA6061 showed typical recrystallization structures in which the grains were equiaxed; however, the grain size was smaller in AA6061 than in AA1050.

Work roll wear in the cold rolling of steel strip is strongly affected by rolling materials, rolling conditions and lubrication. Tests were performed to find the effects of rolling materials under the same lubricating conditions. Surface roughness of cold rolled steel strip as well as the coating technique itself is quite improtant in obtaining high image clarity of electronic products and car outer panels. Therefore this paper reviews for improvement of roughness and peak count about the surface of Cr coated work roll is investigated from the actual temper mill. The conclusions were obtained as follows; 1) Work roll wear in the cold rolling of steel strip is strongly affected by carbon contents of rolling materials, but there is not a separating force and total reduction ratio. 2) The roughness of strip surface is larger in the direction of width than in roll direction. 3) The electro-discharge textured roll has more uniform roughness distribu- tion than shot blasted roll and it's life time is two times longer than shot blasted because it has more harmonic wave roughness, and the higher peak count of surface roughness. 4) The life time of Cr coated work roll is 2 times longer than that of shot blasted work roll and variation of peak count, roughness and life time of Cr coated work roll is similar to electro-discharge texturing work roll. 5) The proper Cr coating thickness is 10 .mu. m at the work roll of temper mill.

When hot strip is trimmed in the side trimming process at the entry side of tandem cold rolling mill, due to bad quality of trimming face and burr, product quality(saw ear)becomes so bad that it causes drop of yield and claim from customers. Therefore, it was examined that applying ultrasonic vibration is an effective method to improve quality of strip trimming face and decrease burr magnitude by decreasing shear force acting between strip trimming face and knife in side trimming process of cold rolling.
This paper deals with an exit strip gauge controller design for a cold rolling mill process with one input and two outputs. In order to attenuate the exit strip gauge variation caused by the Back-up roll eccentricity and the entry guage variation, an H$_{\infty}$ controller design methodology is used to keep the frequency weighted mixed sensitivity function small. Effectiveness of the proposed controller is demonstrated by a computer simulation..

The evolution of texture and microstructure was tracked for a number of differently cold rolled aluminum sheet and through-thickness layers which were differentiated by different strain states upon preceding deformation. The results substantiate a correlation of deformation texture with the amount of shear applied during cold rolling.
