The environmental problems by using coolant demanded the new cooling methods. As one of them, the studies on the finding with compressed cold air and oil mist have been done. The cooling method using compressed cold air was effective through going down the temperature of compressed air supplied below $-25^{\circ}$ and increasing the amount of compressed cold air, but had not enough cooling effect due to the low performance of lubrication. Therefore, the cooling methods using oil mist newly were suggested. This method can satisfy both cooling effect and lubrication with only small amount of coolant, also have the benefit in the point of decreasing the environmental pollution. This paper focused on analyzing the grinding characteristics of the cooling method using oil mist. The grinding test according to compressed cold air, oil mist spray pressure and oil mist supply direction were done.

In this study, the admixtures for agents for enduring cold weather used widely are collected and applied to cement mortar to analyze the strength development due to variation of curing temperature at early age. The test results show that anti-freezing admixture have some problems due to high chloride content, which may cause the corrosion of reinforcement embedded in concrete. However, the mortar applied by accelerator and another kind of agent for enduring cold weather produced by S company lead to delay of strength development in low temperature. Also, it is clarified that there are no significant problems for cement mortar in strength development due to low temperature if a suitable kind of agent enduring cold weather is used and cement mortar is cured for more than $7.5^{\circ}D.D$ at early age.
In this study, we compare thermal performance between four different types of cold plates for humanoid robot cooling. Two commercially available cold plates made of copper have different dimensions and internal flow paths: One has $20{\times}20$$mm^2$ base area with micro-channels and the other has $62.5{\times}62.5$$mm^2$ base area with 85 round pin-fins. And two different types of cold plates of $20{\times}20$$mm^2$ base area with 7 mm high are made of PC (polycarbonate), which aims to reduce the weight of cooling system. All cold plates are mounted on a $20{\times}20$$mm^2$ copper block with two cartridge heaters of 30 $W/cm^2$. The overall heat transfer coefficient and thermal resistances for the liquid-cooled cold plates are obtained. The copper cold plate with micro-channels showed the best performance. Polycarbonate cold plates display fairly good thermal performance with more reduced system weight.
This study investigates gender differences in cold perceptions and wearing behaviors for cold adaptation. A questionnaire composed of items on cold perceptions, intentions toward wearing additional clothing, and clothing for outdoor environments, among others, was used. Each item in the survey targeted 260 male (MS) and female (FS) college students evaluated using a five-point Likert-type scale. Data were statistically analyzed using the independent sample t-test and correlations. Main results can be summarized as follows: MS subjects showed lower dependence on the thermal insulation of clothing because they felt less cold and had the better ability to cope with cold. MS subjects had higher dependence on underwear during cold seasons, and FS subjects tended to wear heavier clothing to compensate for their cold feet with insufficient insulation. In addition, it was preferable to estimate thermal effects of actual wear by taking into account gender differences in the physique. The study is limited in that the room temperature and the actual amount of clothing were not measured, which offers an avenue for future research.
The graphitization is affected by the addition of small amount of the elements(such as Si, Al, Ni, B, Cr and Mn etc.) and the pre-treatment(such as cold rolling). Boron is well known element to accelerate the graphitization of cementite in high carbon steels. Also, cold rolling is known to accelerate the graphitization. But the graphitization nucleation mechanism by cold rolling is few reported. Therefore the effect of cold rolling in Fe-0.5%C-1.0%Si-0.47%Mn-0.005%B steel on the graphitization is investigated quantitatively using hardness test, optical microscope and scanning electron microscope, neutron induced microscopic radiography. The nucleation of graphite in cold-rolled Fe-0.5%C-1.0%Si-0.47%Mn-0.005%B steel is formed at void which is formed at pearlite/pearlite boundary by cold rolling. But the effect of cold rolling on graphitization in boron addition steel is more effective than that of no boron addition steel due to segregation of BN at void in boron addition steel.

This study investigated the effect of cold acclimatization training on body composition including weight, fat mass, and muscle mass with 10 subjects (5 males and 5 females). During the 3-week acclimatization training program, they visited an artificial climate chamber ($15^{\circ}C$) 15 times and were exposed to cold environment with light clothing for 2 hours. Body composition was measured before and after cold training using bioelectric impedance analysis that was later compared by a paired t-test. In the process of thermoregulation, muscle contraction was accompanied by increased substrate metabolism for rising heat production. After cold training, the muscle mass increased and fat mass decreased significantly (p<.1, p<.05), subsequently the body composition changed. It was found that cold acclimatization training could be used as a treatment for obesity. It was suggested that further investigation on the long term effects of mild cold exposure using clothing and its potential applicability as an obesity treatment.

Experiments were carried out to evaluate performance of the cold air distribution systems with an ice storage tank in test room. Cold air distribution systems provide primary air for comfort conditioning or process cooling at coil discharge temperatures$4^{\circ}C$ to$11^{\circ}C$. The application of a cold air distribution system allows for the downsizing of air distribution equipment and central plant equipment when ice storage tank is used. The benefit of a cold air distribution system include a decrease in the floor-to-floor height, increase floor space, reduced building capital costs, reduced energy use and demand. The use of cold air distribution can result in the most cost effective system and is currently being implemented world wise as the new standard in air conditioning systems. In this study, the cold air distribution system is compared with the general ice storage system. Under the same cooling load conditions, experimental results show that the supply air volume of cold air distribution system decrease 38%, and decrease 45% flow rate of brine for the general ice storage system.
Purpose :To analyze body composition in postpartum women with cold-hypersensitivity, their edema index, skelectal muscle's weight and body fat were measured and analyzed with cold hypersensitive postpartum women compared with those of non-cold hypersensitivity. Methods : We studied 38 postpartum women visiting Gangnam Kyung-Hee Korean Hospital from 1 st October 2010 to 30th september 2011. they were subjected to Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging and those with thermal difference greater than $0.3^{\circ}C$ between anterior forearm and center of hand were diagnosed with cold hypersensitivity. Cold hypersensitivity group were consisted of 11 women, the other were consisted of 26 women. All of them were measured Edema index, skelectal muscle's weight and body fat by Inbody720(body composition scanner). We studied the difference of Body composition factor between two groups and relationship between cold-hypersensitivity, Edema index, skelectal muscle's weight and body fat by Independent Samples T-test and Spearman Correlation. Results : No significant differences were observed in edema index, skelectal muscle's weight and body fat between two groups. Conclusion : There was no significant relationship among the Cold-hypersensitivity and Body composition factor(Edema index, skelectal muscle's weight. body fat). But furthemore large scale study is required.
In order to determine the optimum harvest time for the seed production of inbreds and hybrids in silage corn, the ears of sib-pollinated 'KS5', 'KS7rhm', and 'Ga209' and cross-pollinated 'KS5' $\times$ 'KS6' (Suwon19), 'KS7 rhm' $\times$ 'KSl17' (Suwonok), and 'Ga209' $\times$ 'DB544'(Kwanganok) were harvested at the one-week intervals from 4 to 10 weeks after silking. The optimum harvest time for the seed production for 'KS5', 'KS5' $\times$ 'KS6', 'KS7 rhm', and 'KS7rhm' $\times$ 'KS117' was 7 weeks after silking considering both emergence rate and plumule growth in cold test. Although earlier harvested seeds showed similar germination rate as the seeds harvested at the optimum time at $25^{\circ}C$, their emergence rate were lower in cold test. Seed weight and $\alpha$-amylase activity of earlier harvested seeds were lower compared to those of seeds harvested at the optimum time, while leakage of total sugars and electrolytes were higher. However, the later harvested seeds showed lower germination rates at $25^{\circ}C$ and emergence rates in cold test probably due to the lower $\alpha$-amylase activity although they showed increased seed weight and reduced leakage of total sugars and electrolytes. In contrast, the emergence rate of 'Ga209' and 'Ga209' $\times$ 'DB544' in cold test increased up to 10 weeks after silking probably due to the increased seed weight and $\alpha$-amylase activity and reduced sugar and electrolyte leakages during the germination. The cross-pollinated F$_1$ hybrid seeds showed higher germination and emergence rates at $25^{\circ}C$ and in cold test, and higher plumule growth and $\alpha$-amylase activity compared to those of sib-pollinated inbreds.

This study was carried out to develop a simple, rapid and reliable assessment model to predict cold tolerance in Pittosporum tobira, a broad-leaved evergreen commonly used in the southern region of South Korea, which can minimize the possible experimental errors appeared in a electrolyte leakage test for cold tolerance assessment. The modeling procedure comprised of regrowth test and a electrolyte leakage test on the plants exposed to low temperature treatments. The lethal temperatures estimated from the methodological combinations of a electrolyte leakage test including tissue sampling, temperature treatment for potential electrical conductivity, and statistical analysis were compared to the results of the regrowth test. The highest temperature showing the survival rate lower than 50% obtained from the regrowth test was $-10^{\circ}C$ and the lethal was $-10^{\circ}C{\sim}-5^{\circ}C$. Based on the results of the regrowth test, several methodological combinations of electrolyte leakage tests were evaluated and the electrolyte leakage lethal temperatures estimated using leaf sample tissue and freeze-killing method were closest to the regrowth lethal temperature. Evaluating statistical analysis models, linear interpolation had a higher tendency to overestimate the cold tolerance than non-linear regression. Consequently, the optimal model for cold tolerance assessment of P. tobira is composed of evaluating electrolyte leakage from leaf sample tissue applying freeze-killing method for potential electrical conductivity and predicting lethal temperature through non-linear regression analysis.
