  • This study examines he trend in the development of protective clothing for pesticide spraying based on materials with domestic patents and proposes pesticide protection clothing using a cooling blower unit effective for reducing heat stress in pesticide spraying. There was a total of 54 domestic patents on protective clothing related to pesticide spraying, reflecting a sharp increase based on the increasing demand for protective clothing since 2000. Protective clothing with a lower level of heat stress as the core technology accounted for 35.2% of these patents, and recent years have witnessed the increased development of protective clothing supplying cold air to the interior of the clothing through a separate device. However, this may cause some inconvenience in the activity of farmers. Therefore, this study proposes a lightweight cooling blower unit that does not hinder the user's appearance and activity. In the cooling blower unit, contaminated air from outside is purified through a filter and cools down as it passes a cooling device with refrigerant in the copper pipe. This chilled air is supplied to the interior of the clothing through a bidirectional inhaling blower. The proposed protective clothing is an overall with raglan sleeves. Its chill injection site has an area where the most conspicuous change in temperature is selected, and at the back, there is a large pocket for a cooling blower unit.

  • Installing a ventilator for an apartment house composed of over 100 dwelling units was mandated in 2006 to improve indoor air quality. In the case of mechanical ventilators, the air change rate is kept stable, however 68% of dwellers do not operate their ventilator because of an increased electrical bill and noise. In the case of natural ventilators, the former problems are settled, but there are concerns about cold draught and an increase of heating/cooling cost. Authors are developing a heat recovery type natural ventilator which is a natural ventilator equipped with total heat recovery element, and it is expected that those problems of mechanical ventilator and natural ventilator are resolved by this. The combined type diffuser of this study is an under developed fit to the heat recovery type natural ventilator above. There are no standards to evaluate the performance for this type of diffuser. Due to this issue this study investigated the performance of the ventilation and maintained a thermal environment for the combined type diffuser by comparing it with existing diffusers. The results revealed that the performances of the combined type of diffusers showed different features from the existing ones, and was estimated to be high enough in the performances above.

  • Objectives This study is aimed to develop a standard instrument of diagnosis and assessment for the original symptom of Taeeumin. Methods 1. Based on the clinical practice guidelines, the works of Dong-mu, and the expert clinical judgment of the research team, the items to be used in the instrument of diagnosis and assessment for the original symptom of Taeeumin were extracted, and translation was proceeded in plain Korean for easy application and feasible use in daily clinical practice. As a result, candidate items for the diagnosis and assessment tool were derived. 2. An online questionnaire survey was conducted on the candidate items derived through the above process to the expert advisory group for (1) inclusion/exclusion as diagnosis and assessment index (2) evaluation of importance and (3) the validity of translation. Results & Conclusions Through survey of expert advisory group, the number of candidate items were reduced and the preliminary weights were assigned. And based on this, was developed. There were a total of 9 items for Exterior Cold[Wiwanhan] original symptom diagnosis and assessment tool, 21 items for Interior Heat[Ganyeol] original symptom, 15 items for Exterior Disease Unfavorable Patterns[Wiwanhan-paejo] original symptom, and 17 items for Interior Disease Unfavorable Patterns[Ganyeol-paejo] original symptom, and the weights were reflected in each response score so that the final total score could be calculated.

  • Oceanic current maps in the secondary school science and earth science textbooks have played an important role in piquing students's inquisitiveness and interests in the ocean. Such maps can provide students with important opportunities to learn about oceanic currents relevant to abrupt climate change and global energy balance issues. Nevertheless, serious and diverse errors in these secondary school oceanic current maps have been discovered upon comparison with up-to-date scientific knowledge concerning oceanic currents. This study presents the fundamental methods and strategies for constructing such maps error-free, through the unification of the diverse current maps currently in the textbooks. In order to do so, we analyzed the maps found in 27 different textbooks and compared them with other up-to-date maps found in scientific journals, and developed a mapping technique for extracting digitalized quantitative information on warm and cold currents in the East Sea. We devised analysis items for the current visualization in relation to the branching features of the Tsushima Warm Current (TWC) in the Korea Strait. These analysis items include: its nearshore and offshore branches, the northern limit and distance from the coast of the East Korea Warm Current, outflow features of the TWC near the Tsugaru and Soya Straits and their returning currents, and flow patterns of the Liman Cold Current and the North Korea Cold Current. The first draft of the current map was constructed based upon the scientific knowledge and input of oceanographers based on oceanic in-situ measurements, and was corrected with the help of a questionnaire survey to the members of an oceanographic society. In addition, diverse comments have been collected from a special session of the 2013 spring meeting of the Korean Oceanographic Society to assist in the construction of an accurate current map of the East Sea which has been corrected repeatedly through in-depth discussions with oceanographers. Finally, we have obtained constructive comments and evaluations of the interim version of the current map from several well-known ocean current experts and incorporated their input to complete the map's final version. To avoid errors in the production of oceanic current maps in future textbooks, we provide the geolocation information (latitude and longitude) of the currents by digitalizing the map. This study is expected to be the first step towards the completion of an oceanographic current map suitable for secondary school textbooks, and to encourage oceanographers to take more interest in oceanic education.
