  • Logistic enterprises want to be competitive enterprises in fierce logistic market and worry about the securement of discriminative competitiveness for it. The standards for the judgement of logistic industry's maintenance of competitiveness are not only economic feasibility of logistic costs but also the satisfaction of users because well-established service system for variety and enhancement of logistic needs. Some of the quality attributes sufficiently satisfy expectation of customers, but not guarantee high-quality satisfaction. Therefore, it's difficult to grasp quality attributes with the existing approach of perceived service quality. Quality attribute model suggested by Kano is widely used as the concept is accurate, there is high possibility to be used at the stage of product/service planning, and it can be easily applied. Kano model has a limitation that quality attributes are classified with mode and the differences between strong property of the quality attribute and week property in quality attributes were ignored. Therefore, Timko calculated customer satisfaction coefficient with the result of Kano's survey and effects of customer satisfaction and unsatisfaction through relations between satisfaction coefficient and unsatisfaction coefficient. The purposes of this study are to use ASC, the average of satisfaction coefficient and unsatisfaction, as the satisfaction of quality characteristics, decide the importance of quality characteristics with TOPSIS, a representative multi-standard decision-making method, and calculate strategy improvement propriety of logistic service quality.

  • This study was conducted to investigate morphological characteristics of Korean local garlic varieties and to define the genetic variability and the correlations amongthe characters associated with yield. The plant height, the leaf sheath diameter, the nubmer of leaves, and bulb weight were significantly increased in the garlic plants from heavier seed bulbs. The proportation of six clove bulbs was more than 60% in Seosan variety and this was not realted with the number of cloves in seed bulb. While more than 70% bulbs in Jeoksung and Danyang varieties cultivated in paddy field were composed of 6 or 7 cloves, majority of the bulbs of Euisung and Danyang varieties cultivated in upland were composed of bulbs with 7 cloves or more. The highest genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) and phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) were observed in bulb weight. GCV and PCV also showed high value in leaf sheath diameter. Thus, there is a greater scope for selection of these characters. The small difference between PCV and GCV values in plant height indicates that the environmental influence would be limited in this character. High heritability was observed of plant height (56.76%) and bulb weight (45.95%). And the weight per bulb (34.24%) exhibited highest genitic advance followed by leaf sheath diameter (18.8%) and plant height (9.61%), and those would be the ideal characters for selelction.

  • Recently the tagSNP selection problem has been researched for reducing the cost of association studies between human's diversities and SNPs. General approach for this problem is that all of SNPs are separated into appropriate blocks and then tagSNPs are chosen in each block. Marsel in this paper is the system that involved the concept of linkage disequilibrium for overcoming the problem that the existing block partitioning approaches have short of biological meanings. In most approaches, the contiguous regions, which recombinations have LD coefficient |D'| and then tagSNP selection step is performed. And MarSel guarantees the minimum tagSNP selection using entropy-based optimal selection algorithm when tagSNPs are chosen in each block, and enables chromosome-level association studies using efficient memory management technique when input is very large-scale dataset that is impossible to be processed in the existing systems.

  • Inbreeding is the mating of relatives that produce progeny having more homozygous alleles than non-inbred animals. Inbreeding increases numbers of recessive alleles, which is often associated with decreased performance known as inbreeding depression. The magnitude of inbreeding depression depends on the level of inbreeding in the animal. Level of inbreeding is expressed by the inbreeding coefficient. One breeding goal in livestock is uniform productivity while maintaining acceptable inbreeding levels, especially keeping inbreeding less than 20%. However, in closed herds without the introduction of new genetic sources high levels of inbreeding over time are unavoidable. One method that increases selection response and minimizes inbreeding is selection of individuals by weighting estimated breeding values with average relationships among individuals. Optimum genetic contribution theory (OGC) uses relationships among individuals as weighting factors. The algorithm is as follows: i) Identify the individual having the best EBV; ii) Calculate average relationships ($\bar{r_j}$) between selected and candidates; iii) Select the individual having the best EBV adjusted for average relationships using the weighting factor k, $EBV^*=EBV_j(1-k\bar{{r}_j})$ Repeat process until the number of individuals selected equals number required. The objective of this study was to compare simulated results based on OGC selection under different conditions over 30 generations. Individuals (n = 110) were generated for the base population with pseudo random numbers of N~ (0, 3), ten were assumed male, and the remainder female. Each male was mated to ten females, and every female was assumed to have 5 progeny resulting in 500 individuals in the following generation. Results showed the OGC algorithm effectively controlled inbreeding and maintained consistent increases in selection response. Difference in breeding values between selection with OGC algorithm and by EBV only was 8%, however, rate of inbreeding was controlled by 47% after 20 generation. These results indicate that the OGC algorithm can be used effectively in long-term selection programs.

  • This study provides basic data on how stress impacts the processed convenience foods purchase attitudes and the selection attributes of housewives. The stress consists of 3 factors, which were housework stress, family relation stress and economic stress. The processed convenience food purchase attitude consisted of 2 factors, which were peripheral influence purchase and conviction purchase. The processed convenience food selection attribute consisted of 4 factors, which were quality, convenience, packaging and price. Factor loading confirmation and reliability test were conducted, and the reliability was confirmed with Cronbach's alpha coefficients for all the factors exceeding 0.5. The high stress levels showed significantly high stress factors of housework, family relations and economic stress (P<0.001). The high stress group was shown to make purchases by recognizing peripheral influences (P<0.01). When the selection properties of processed convenience foods depending on different stress levels were examined, it was revealed that among the three groups, the low stress group least considered the price aspect (P<0.01). After deducting the factors, AMOS (Analysis of Moment Structure) was used to conduct the confirmatory factor analysis for verifying validity. The structural equation model was used to determine the path coefficient. From the processed convenience foods purchase attitude, the peripheral influence purchase had significantly positive (+) effects on convenience (P<0.05). Also, conviction purchase was shown to have significantly positive (+) effects on quality (P<0.05). Housework and family relation stress were shown to have negative (-) effects on processed convenience foods selection attribute, and economic stress was shown to have positive (+) effects, although no significant relationships were revealed.

  • In this study, the authors intend to analyze factors contributing to research performance using Backpropagation Neural Network and Support Vector Machine. The analyzing factors contributing to lecturer research performance start from defining the features. The next stage is to collect datasets based on defining features. Then transform the raw dataset into data ready to be processed. After the data is transformed, the next stage is the selection of features. Before the selection of features, the target feature is determined, namely research performance. The selection of features consists of Chi-Square selection (U), and Pearson correlation coefficient (CM). The selection of features produces eight factors contributing to lecturer research performance are Scientific Papers (U: 154.38, CM: 0.79), Number of Citation (U: 95.86, CM: 0.70), Conference (U: 68.67, CM: 0.57), Grade (U: 10.13, CM: 0.29), Grant (U: 35.40, CM: 0.36), IPR (U: 19.81, CM: 0.27), Qualification (U: 2.57, CM: 0.26), and Grant Awardee (U: 2.66, CM: 0.26). To analyze the factors, two data mining classifiers were involved, Backpropagation Neural Networks (BPNN) and Support Vector Machine (SVM). Evaluation of the data mining classifier with an accuracy score for BPNN of 95 percent, and SVM of 92 percent. The essence of this analysis is not to find the highest accuracy score, but rather whether the factors can pass the test phase with the expected results. The findings of this study reveal the factors that have a significant impact on research performance and vice versa.

  • In this study, a simple probabilistic approach using equivalent coefficient of consolidation ($c_e$) was proposed to consider the spatial variability of coefficient of vertical consolidation ($c_v$), and the effect of the probability distribution of coefficient of consolidation on degree of consolidation in heterogeneous soil was investigated. The statistical characteristics of consolidation coefficient were estimated from 1,226 field data, and four probability distributions (Normal, Log-normal, Gamma, and Weibull) were applied to consider the effect of probability distribution. The random fields of coefficient of consolidation were generated based on Karhunen-Loeve expansion. Then, the equivalent coefficient of consolidation was calculated from the random field and used as the input value of consolidation analysis. As a result, the probabilistic analysis can be performed effectively by separating random field and numerical analysis, and probabilistic analysis was performed using a Latin hypercube Monte Carlo simulation. The results showed that the statistical properties of $c_e$ were changed by the probability distribution and spatial variability of $c_v$, and the probability distribution of $c_v$ has considerable effects on the probabilistic results. There was a large difference of failure probability depend on the probability distribution when the autocorrelation distance was small (i.e., highly heterogeneous soil). Therefore, the selection of a suitable probability distribution of $c_v$ is very important for reliable probabilistic analysis of consolidation.

  • A diffusion process is often the main mechanism of soil gas/vapor movement in the vadose zone. The diffusion coefficients in the porous soil media are different from those in the free air phase by the reduction of available area for diffusion, tortuous diffusion path and variable cross section area along the diffusion path. To take account those effects of the diffusion process in the porous media, usually the terms of effective diffusion coefficient and tortuosity are have been used. However, as there are many differents definitions for the tortuosity, when the term of tortuosity is used, it is necessary to examine it throughly. Moreover, there are many different equations for the effective diffusion coefficient according to the investigators and the differences in the values of effective diffusion coefficients between the equations are not insignificant, the selection of the equation should be done with caution. In this paper, the different definitions of effective diffusion coefficient are examined and discussed. As well as definitions, the lots of availabe models for the diffusion coefficient in terms of porosities are compared. Also, the constrictiviy which explains the effect of cross sectional area change over the diffusion path was discussed.
