Speech/Mixed Content Signal Classification Based on GMM Using MFCC (MFCC를 이용한 GMM 기반의 음성/혼합 신호 분류)

  • In this paper, proposed to improve the performance of speech and mixed content signal classification using MFCC based on GMM probability model used for the MPEG USAC(Unified Speech and Audio Coding) standard. For effective pattern recognition, the Gaussian mixture model (GMM) probability model is used. For the optimal GMM parameter extraction, we use the expectation maximization (EM) algorithm. The proposed classification algorithm is divided into two significant parts. The first one extracts the optimal parameters for the GMM. The second distinguishes between speech and mixed content signals using MFCC feature parameters. The performance of the proposed classification algorithm shows better results compared to the conventionally implemented USAC scheme.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the error rate Performance of convolution coded 16 QAM signal with Optimum Threshold Detection with selective combining diversity in Rician Fading Environments. The performance of 16-QAM signal with CTD (conventional threshold detection) which employs convolution coding technique was analyzed and the performance improvement of convolution coded 16-QAM signal with OTD (optimum threshold detection) which is varied according to fading parameter "K" and AWGN in Rician Fading channel was simulated. As a result of analysis, it was shown the effect of performance improvement to overcome the environment of mobile radio data communication channel.

Postprocessing in Block-Based Video Coding Based on a Quantization Noise Model (양자화 잡음 모델에 근거한 블록기반 동영상 부호화에서의 후처리)

  • 본 논문에서는 블록기반 동영상 부호화에서 나타나는 양자화 잡음을 그 특성에 맞게 모델링을 하고, 이를 기반으로 웨이블렛 변환(wavelet transform)을 이용하여 양자화 잡음을 제거하는 후처리 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법에서는 양자화 잡음을 특정 프로화일(profile)로 표현되는 블록화 잡음과 비에지 화소(non-edge pixel)에서 백색 가우시안 특성을 가지는 나머지 잡음의 합으로 모델링 한다. 이러한 양자화 잡음의 모델을 기반으로 정칙화 미분(regularized differentiation)을 표현하는 Mallat의 1차원 웨이브렛 변환을 이용하여 영상복원 관점에서 각각의 잡음을 제거한다. 먼저, 웨이브렛 영역의 블록경계에서 임펄스로 나타나는 블록화 잡음 성분들의 크기를 추정하여 줄임으로 해서 블록화 잡음을 제거한다. 이때 임펄스 크기의 추정은 메디안 필터와 양자화 파라미터(quantization parameter), 그리고 국부 활동도(local activity)를 이용하여 이루어진다. 그리고 나머지 잡음은 비에지 화소에서 연역치화(soft-thresholding)을 수행함으로써 제거한다. 이러한 후처리 방법의 구현은 실시간 응용을 위해 웨이브렛 필터를 이용하여 근사적으로 공간 영역에서 이루어진다. 실험 결과, 제안된 방법이 다양한 영상과 압축률에 대해 MPEG-4 VM(verification model) 후처리 필터(post-filter)보다 PSNR 성능뿐만 아니라 주관적 화질면에서도 우수함을 확인하였다.

  • Welding is one of the most important joining processes and the effect of welding residual stresses in the structure has a great deal of influence on its quality. In this paper, recent development in computational welding mechanics, particularly calculation of welding residual stresses, is introduced. The hypoelastic formulation of finite element analysis for thermoelastic-plastic deformation is applied to welding processes to find residual deformations and stresses. Leblond's phase evolution equation coupled with the energy equation is employed to calculate the phase volume fraction; this plays an important role as a kinetics parameter affecting phase fraction effects in the mechanical constitutive equation of welded materials. Furthermore, transformation plasticity is taken into account for an accurate evaluation of stress. The influence of the phase transformation and the transformation plasticity on residual stress is investigated by means of numerical analyses using metallurgical parameters in Leblond's phase evolution equation that are adjusted with respect to various cooling rates in a CCT-diagram. Coding implementation is conducted by way of the ABAQUS user subroutines, UMAT.

  • 전력선 통신(Power-Line Communication)은 기본적으로 데이터 전송용이 아닌 전력 전달을 목적으로 설계된 전력선을 매체로 이루어지기 때문에 상당한 잡음과 감쇠 특성을 보이며 또 전력선 topology와 부하의 변화에 따라 전달 함수(transfer function)의 변화도 심하다. 이러한 열악한 채널 특성을 극복하기 위해 전력선 채널에 관한 많은 연구가 진행되고 있으며 그 중에서도 채널 모델링 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 채널 모델링은, 변복조 방식, 채널 코딩(coding), 커플링(coupling), 필터링(filtering) 등의 적극적인 채널 극복 방안으로서 제시되는 기술을 적용함에 있어서 상당히 중요하다. 본 논문에서는, 채널 모델링 기법으로 제시되고 있는 방식인, 전달 함수 특성과 여러 가지 잡음 특성을 결합한 통계적 모델링 방식[l]을 통해 전력선 채널 모델을 구현하여 실측치와 비교 검토하고, 또 모델링을 통해 얻어지는 파라미터(parameter)를 통해 채널 정보를 효과적으로 Data Base화 할 수 있는 방안에 대해 연구하였으며, 이 Data Base의 활용 방안을 모색하였다.

  • Wireless communication systems are inevitable for efficient underwater activities. Because of the poor propagation characteristics of light and electromagnetic waves, acoustic waves are generally used for the underwater wireless communication. Although there are many kinds of information type, visual images take an essential role especially for search and identification activities. For this reason, we developed an acoustic-based underwater image transmission system under a dual use technology project supported by MOCIE (Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy). For the application to complicated and time-varying underwater environments all-digital transmitter and receiver systems are investigated. Array acoustic transducers are used at the receiver, which have the center frequency of 32kHz and the bandwidth of 4kHz. To improve transmission speed and quality, various algorithms and systems are used. The system design techniques will be discussed in detail including image compression/ decompression system, adaptive beam- forming, fast RLS adaptive equalizer, ${\partial}/4$ QPSK (Quadrilateral Phase Shift Keying) modulator/demodulator, and convolution coding/ Viterbi.   • In the discussion of digital mobile communication systems the speech coder based on the high quality low bit rate is an essential part of topics to overcome the limited availability of radio spectrum, which will enhance the communication services. In this paper we present the implementation and performance evaluation of 13kbps RPE LTP speech coder. An implementation of a real time full duplex coder with 75% of DSP loading rate using a single DSP chip has been shown, and also the fixed point simulations for H/W implementation has been performed. Finally, analysis result for relative bit importance of each transmitting parameter has been shown for channel coding.

Channel Capacity Analysis of DNA-based Molecular Communication with Length Encoding Mechanism

  • The double helix structure of DNA makes it diverse, stable and can store information with high density, and these characteristics are consistent with the requirements of molecular communication for transport carriers. In this paper, a specific structure of molecular communication system based on DNA length coding is proposed. Transmitter (Tx) adopts the multi-layer golden foil design to control the release of DNA molecules of different lengths accurately, and receiver (Rx) adopts an effective and sensitive design of nanopore, and the biological information can be converted to the electric signal at Rx. The effect of some key factors, e.g., the length of time slot, transmission distance, the number of releasing molecules, the priori probability, on channel capacity is demonstrated exhaustively. Moreover, we also compare the transmission capacity of DNA-based molecular communication (DNA-MC) system and concentration-based molecular communication (MC) system under the same parameter setting, and the peak value of capacity of DNA-MC system can achieve 0.08 bps, while the capacity of MC system remains 0.025 bps. The simulation results show that DNA-MC system has obvious advantages over MC system in saving molecular resources and improving transmission stability.

The Structural Relationship between Employment Insecurity and Turnover Intention of Beauty Industry Employees

  • Purpose - This research paper empirically analyzes the effect of changes in the employment environment due to the 4th industrial revolution on the turnover intention of cosmetic employers and employees and seeks the necessary measures for job instability in the industrial field. Research design, data, and methodology - A self-report questionnaire was conducted on 513 cosmetic implementers. Statistical processing of the data collected by the data analysis method was analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) WIN23.0 statistical package program through data coding and data organizing process. Results - Changes in the employment environment were found to have a significant effect on the effect of job instability (t=13.218, p<0.05). As for the effect of organizational commitment on turnover intention, the higher the organizational commitment, which is a parameter, has a negative (-) effect on turnover intention, a dependent variable (p<0.05). Conclusions - Our results are based on an analysis that allows cosmetic employers and workers to explore ways to address job insecurity. Based on the analysis results, it will help the growth of the cosmetics industry by providing basic data for the identity of the cosmetics industry and the development of the cosmetics service organization.
