Background: The scattered photons cause reduction of the contrast of radiographic image and it results in the degradation of the quality of the image. In order to acquire better quality image, an anti-scattering x-ray gird should be equipped in radiography system. Materials and Methods: The X-ray anti-scattering grid of the inclined type based on the hybrid concept for that of parallel and focused type was tested by MCNP code. The MCNPX 2.7.0 was used for the simulation based test. The geometry for the test was based on the IEC 60627 which was an international standard for diagnostic X-ray imaging equipment-Characteristics of general purpose and mammographic anti-scatter grids. Results and Discussion: The performance of grids with four inclined shielding material types was compared with that of the parallel type. The grid with completely tapered type the best performance where there were little performance difference according to the degree of inclination. Conclusion: It was shown that the grid of inclined type had better performance than that of parallel one.
Telemetry processing system requires minimum bit transition level in data streams to maintain a bit synchronization while receiving telemetry signal. PN code has a capability of providing the bit transition and is widely used in the packet communication of CCSDS. CCSDS PN code that generator polynomial is $h(x)=x^{8}+x^{7}+x^{5}+x^{3}+1$, and the random bit sequence that is generated from this polynomial is repeated with the cycle of 255 bits. As the resolution of satellite image increases, the size and transmission rate of data increases. To process of huge and bulky size of satellite image, the speed of CCSDS PN Processing is very important. This paper introduces the way of improving the CCSDS PN Processing speed through processing 128 bits at one time using the feature of cyclic structure that repeats after first 255 bytes by grouping the random bit sequence with 1 byte and Intel Streaming SIMD Extensions 2. And this paper includes the comparison data of processing speed between SSE2-applied implementation and not-applied implementation, in addition, the measured value of speed improvement.

Lately, intensifying screen of the $CaWO_4$ is used to medical treatment and diagnosis of the image. In this paper, we investigated transmission fraction and mass attenuation coefficient of $CaWO_4$ screen about diagnostic x-ray of low energy using MCNP 4C code. Experimentally, for 0.9 mm-$CaWO_4$ screen, the absorbable rate of diagnostic x-ray is more than 95%. according to kVp, the experimental value of mass attenuation coefficient is in a1most agreement with an corrected estimate value of MCNP and the deviation of experimental values is less than ${\pm}7%$. Using the MCNP code through this paper, we can make an estimate of signal and design for construction of the CaWO4/a-Se based digital x-ray image detector and make a good use of the foundation data for development of other materials.

This paper shows the numerical and experimental results about the hydrodynamic characteristics of X-Twisted rudders having continuous twist of the leading edge along the span. All the results were compared with those of the semi-balanced rudder. Calculation through the Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes Equation (RANSE) code with propeller sliding meshes shows large inflow angle and fast inflow velocity in the vicinity of ${\pm}0.7$ R from the shaft center, so it may cause cavitation. Also, X-Twisted rudder has relatively small inflow angles along the rudder span compared with semi-balanced rudder. For the performance validation, rudders for two large container carriers were designed and tested. Cavitation tests at the medium sized cavitation tunnel with respect to the rudder types and twisted angles showed the effectiveness of twist on cavitation and the tendency according to the twist. And the resistance, self-propulsion and manoeuvring tests were also carried out at the towing tank. As a result, in the case of X-Twisted rudder, ship speed was improved with good manoeuvring performance. Especially, it was found out that manoeuvring performance between port and starboard was well balanced compared with semi-balanced rudders.

In recent years, there has been keen interest in developing flat panel detectors for all modalities of radiology, including gerneral radiology, fluoroscopy, electronic portal imaging, and mammography. In this paper, we report the new hybrid x-ray detector consisted of ZnS(Ag) photoemission layer and a-Se photoconductor layer to resolve problem of conventional x-ray detector such as the direct detector and the indirect detector. To design the structure of ZnS(Ag)/a-Se detector, the penetrated energy spectrum and absorption fraction was estimated using MCNP 4C code. Also, we carried out the experiment to demonstrate the result of MCNP 4C code. Experimental results showed that the absorption fraction of $500{\mu}m$-ZnS(Ag) film was above 87%, 75% at 60 and 80 kVp. As a results, we can determined the thickness of suitable phosphor and the thickness of photoconductor.

The present paper reports the development of a computational code based on the Adaptive Group of Ink Drop Spread (AGIDS) for reconstruction of the neutron noise sources in reactor cores. AGIDS algorithm was developed as a fuzzy inference system based on the active learning method. The main idea of the active learning method is to break a multiple input-single output system into a single input-single output system. This leads to the ability to simulate a large system with high accuracy. In the present study, vibrating absorber-type neutron noise source in an International Atomic Energy Agency-two dimensional reactor core is considered in neutron noise calculation. The neutron noise distribution in the detectors was calculated using the Galerkin finite element method. Linear approximation of the shape function in each triangle element was used in the Galerkin finite element method. Both the real and imaginary parts of the calculated neutron distribution of the detectors were considered input data in the developed computational code based on AGIDS. The output of the computational code is the strength, frequency, and position (X and Y coordinates) of the neutron noise sources. The calculated fraction of variance unexplained error for output parameters including strength, frequency, and X and Y coordinates of the considered neutron noise sources were $0.002682{\sharp}/cm^3s$, 0.002682 Hz, and 0.004254 cm and 0.006140 cm, respectively.

Background: Non-destructive evaluation of defects in metals or composites specimens is a regular method in radiographic imaging. The maintenance examination of metallic structures is a relatively difficult effort that requires robust techniques for use in industrial environments. Methods: In this research, iron plate, lead marker and tungsten defect with a 0.1 cm radius in spherical shape were separately simulated by MCNP code and SuperMC software. By 192Ir radiation source, two exposures were considered to determine the depth of the actual defined defect in the software. Also by the code, displacement shift of the defect were computed derived from changing the source location along the x- or y-axis. Results: The computed defect depth was identified 0.71 cm in comparison to the actual one with accuracy of 13%. Meanwhile, the defect position was recognized by disorder and reduction in obtained gamma flux. The flux amount along the x-axis was approximately 0.5E+11 units greater than the y-axis. Conclusion: This study provides a method for detecting the depth and position of the defect in a particular sample by combining code and software simulators.

Large area matrix-addressed image detectors are a recent technology for x-ray imaging with medical diagnostic and other applications. The imaging properties of x-ray pixel detectors depend on the quantum efficiency of x-rays, the generated signal of each x-ray photon and the distribution of the generated signal between pixels. In a phosphor coated detector the light signal is generated by electrons captured in the phosphor screen. In our study we simulated the lateral spread distributions for phosphor coupled detector by Monte Carlo simulations. Most simulations of such detectors simplify the setup by only taking the conversion layer into account neglecting behind. The Monte Carlo code MCNPX has been used to simulate the complete interaction and subsequent charge transport of x-ray radiation. This has allowed the analysis of charge sharing between pixel elements as an important limited factor of digital x-ray imaging system. The parameters are determined by lateral distribution of x-ray photons and x-ray induced electrons. The primary purpose of this study was to develop a design tool for the evaluation of geometry factor in the phosphor coupled optical imaging detector. In order to evaluate the spatial resolution for different phosphor material, phosphor geometry we have developed a simulation code. The developed code calculates the energy absorption and spatial distribution based on both the signal from the scintillating layer and the signal from direct detection of x-ray in the detector. We show that internal scattering contributes to the so-called spatial resolution drop of the image detector. Results from the simulation of spatial distribution in a phosphor pixel detector are presented. The spatial resolution can be increased by optimizing pixel size and phosphor thickness.

This study deals with $de-SO_X$ and $de-NO_X$ process of a wet scrubber for small size ship engines. The experiment was conducted according to the E3 mode of the $NO_X$ technical code. In order to discharge the sulfur containing flue gas, ditertiarybutyldusulfide was added to the diesel fuel to increase the sulfur content. NO gas, which occupies most of the nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas, was oxidized into $NO_2$ and absorbed by a wet scrubber. The developed equipment of this work achieved 100% of removal efficiency for highly soluble $SO_2$ gas in an aqueous solution.
XOQ_DW code is currently used to assess the atmospheric dispersion fur the routine releases of radioactive gaseous effluents at Yonggwang nuclear power plants. This code was developed based on XOQDOQ code and an additional code is required to assess the atmospheric dispersion for potential accidental releases. In order to assess the atmospheric dispersion fer the accidental releases, XOQAR code has been developed by using PAVAN code that is based on Reg. Guide 1.145. The terrain data of XOQ_DW code inputs and the relative concentrations (X/Q) of XOQ_DW code outputs are used as the inputs of the XOQAR code through the interface with XOQ_DW code. By using this code, the maximum values of X/Q at exclusion area and low population zone boundaries except for sea areas were assessed as $1.33{\times}10^{-4}$ and $7.66{\times}10^{-6}$ sec/$m^3$, respectively. Through the development of this code, a rode system is prepared for assessing the atmospheric dispersion for the accidental releases as well as the routine releases. This developed code ran be used for other domestic nuclear power plants by modifying the terrain input data.
