  • Parallel procedure and performance of two-step Eulerian code have not been reported sufficiently yet even though it was developed and utilized widely in the impact simulation. In this study, parallel strategy of two-step Eulerian code was proposed and described in detail. The performance was evaluated in the self-made linux cluster computer. Compared with commercial code, a relatively good performance is achieved. Through the performance evaluation of each computation stage, remap is turned out to be the most time consuming part among the other part such as FE processing, communication, time marching etc.

  • In this paper, we propose interleaved super-orthogonal convolutional coded ultra wide-band impulse radio(ISOC-UWB-IR) system, and analyze its performance. The proposed system uses interleaver and deinterleaver to decorrelate the temporal correlation of the fading process and to obtain the diversity gain. We also suggest the three types of interleavers, which are pulse-wise interleaver(PI), pulse sub-group-wise interleaver(PSGI), and pulse group-wise interleaver(PGI). Performance analysis result shows that the interleaving scheme, rather than the code rate of super orthogonal convolutional code(SOC) encoder, affects the performance for the Rayleigh fading channel.

  • In this paper, three methods are studied to enhance the performance of SBC ( Sub-Band Coding )schemes for voice signal at the medium bit rate between 12 kbps and If; kbps, and adaptive postfilteritng using human auditory characteristics Is (Bone at the decoder out put. First, GQMF(Generalized Quadrature Mirror Filter ) Is used instead of QME'((Quadrature MirrorFiltcr ) to have better performance. Second, by adaptive bit allocation to each sub-band, speech quality is enhanced and valuable rate ceding If possible. Third, corriparlson study oS thr: coder performance using APCM(Adaptive Pulse Code ModulatioTi) and ADPCM( Adaptive Differentiai Pulse Code Modulatiori) , Indicates that SB AfCM performance better than the other. Adaptive postfiltering at the decoder output enhances the quality of the coded speech. The two proposed postfiltering methods decrease the noise sufficiently at the expense of the low computational load.

  • The burning-out of excess plutonium from the reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel and from the dismantlement of nuclear weapons is recently emphasized due to the difficulties in securing the final repository for the spent fuel and the necessity to consume the ex-weapons plutonium. An irradiation test in the Halden reactor was launched by the OECD Halden Reactor Project (HRP) to investigate the in-pile behavior of plutonium-embedded fuel as a form of mixed oxide (MOX) and of inert matrix fuel (IMF). The first cycle of irradiation was successfully accomplished with good integrity of test fuel rods and without any undesirable fault of instrumentations. The test results revealed that the MOX fuel is more stable under irradiation environments than IMF. In addition, MOX fuel shows lower thermal resistance due to its better thermal conductivity than IMF. The on-line measured in-pile performance data of attrition milled MOX fuel are used in the analysis of the in-pile performance of the fuel with the fuel performance code, COSMOS. The COSMOS code has been developed for the analysis of MOX fuel as well as $UO_2$ fuel up to high burnup and showed good capability to analyze the in-reactor behavior of MOX fuel even with different instrumentation.

  • The PB/MC-CDMA(Partial Block Multi Carrier Code Division Multilple Access) system can improve the performance by reducing the ICI(Inter-Code Interference) between users. Also, this system can achieve the frequency diversity gain by avoiding ISI(Inter Symbol Interference). Therefore, the performance of PB/MC-CDMA system is better than that of conventional MC-CDMA(Multi Carrier Code Division Multiple Access) system. However, similarly to other multi-carrier systems, it still has a PAPR(Peak to Average Power Ratio) issue. In this paper, we propose a peak power reduction technique involving optimized spreading code selection without side information for the PB/MC-CDMA. The PB/MC-CDMA system in each block of units reuses the code so the extra code will be remained. This extra code is divided into several groups to calculate the PAPR and solving the PAPR problem by transferring the selected code which has minimum peak power.

  • The Korean nuclear industry is developing a thermal-hydraulic analysis code for safety analysis of pressurized water reactors (PWRs). The new code is called the Safety and Performance Analysis Code for Nuclear Power Plants (SPACE). The SPACE code adopts advanced physical modeling of two-phase flows, mainly two-fluid three-field models which comprise gas, continuous liquid, and droplet fields and has the capability to simulate 3D effects by the use of structured and/or nonstructured meshes. The programming language for the SPACE code is C++ for object-oriented code architecture. The SPACE code will replace outdated vendor supplied codes and will be used for the safety analysis of operating PWRs and the design of advanced reactors. This paper describes the overall features of the SPACE code and shows the code assessment results for several conceptual and separate effect test problems.

  • In this paper, a PN code tracking loop with extended Kalman filter (EKF) is proposed for a direct-sequence spread-spectrum. EKF is used to estimate amplitude and delay in a multipath. fading channel. It is shown that tracking error performance is significantly improved by EKF compared with a conventional tracking loop.

  • In this paper, it was studied that the performance of OFDM transmission scheme was improved in fading channel by applying TCM, which has advantages of error correction and bandwidth efficiency. Simulation was carried out for two TCM models with different code efficient length. By mapping two models to square 16QAM, the model with the code efficient length of 2 achieved 3㏈ better than the other for the BER of 10$^{-3}$ . In conclusion, if we want to achieve a better performance with TCM in OFDM applications, we should select a TCM with langer code efficient length.

  • In this paper, we propose to exploit a multi-code CDMA scheme for power line communication (PLC) systems, and its performance on non-Gaussian impulse and harmonic noises is presented. The proposed multi-code CDMA scheme utilizes convolutional coding and block interleaving to combat with the non-Gaussian noises, and simulation results indicate effective alleviation of these noises, and thus significant bit error rate improvement by the proposed scheme even under strict restriction of frequency band allowed in PLC systems.
