A similarity solution of the Navier-Stokes equation for the axisymmetric stagnation flow near a plane wall coated with a magnetic fluid of uniform thickness is constructed. The shape functions representing the flow in two (magnetic and normal) fluid layer are determined from a third order boundary value problem, which is solved by the Runge-Kutta method with two shooting parameters. Features of the flow including streamline pattern and interface velocity are investigated for the varying values of density ratio, viscosity ratio, and Reynolds number. The results for the interface and wall shear stress, boundary layer and displacement thickness are also presented.

The flow melting behavior of the electrolytic tinplate during reflow treatment was investigated in terms of morphology and structure of coating layers which were electrodeposited with variation of electrolyte temperature. It was commonly found that the nucleation density of the electrodeposits showed little difference with the electrolyte temperature, and the growth of electrodeposited tin occurred along <100> direction of (002) plane. At low electrolyte temperature, the (002) plane of tin nucleated paralleling to the substrate and grew perpendicularly to the substrate, which rendered porous rod-like deposits. With increasing the temperature, the (002) plane nucleated declining $15^{\circ}$ to the substrate and also grew to the normal <100> direction, which enabled lateral growth of the tin crystals and rendered compact deposits. During reflow treatment, the matte deposit transformed to the reflowed state via transition regions consisted of contraction, island formation, and wetting . The matte deposits formed at low temperature exhibited wide transition regions because of poor thermal transfer between crystals due to their porous nature. While that formed at high temperature transformed very rapidly to the reflowed state by enhanced thermal transfer between the compact crystals.

Objectives The aim of this study is to analyze the characteristics of the tongue coating pattern in the elderly patients with xerostomia. Methods Ninety-six elderly patients with xerostomia were recruited by advertisement and they visited the oral diseases clinics at Kyung Hee University Korean Medicine Hospital and Kyung Hee University Hospital at Gangdong from November, 2011 to August, 2013. After signifying the assent, the subjects who passed screening were enrolled this study. The subjects were evaluated on their clinical characteristics of xerostomia using visual analogue scale for xerostomia, dry mouth questionnaire, unstimulated salivary flow rate. In addition, Yin-deficiency questionnaire was used to evaluate the Yin-deficiency state and Winkel tongue coating index and Digital Tongue imagin system were used to measure the tongue coating of patients. Results The proportion of women was higher than that of men, and there were few smokers in this study population. This population had chronic and relatively severe xerostomia symptoms. Also, thin coating pattern was showed in this elderly patients with xerostomia and this result was regarded to the influence of Yin-deficiency. The thin coating patten was observed in the group with higher Yin-deficiency score. There was no difference in tongue coating between the hyposalivation and normosalivation group. Conclusion In the elderly patients with xerostomia, Yin-deficiency is might be considered as one of the main cause of xerostomia. Hence, it is thought that this patients showed the thin coating pattern. This results could be used in diagnosis and treatment for the elderly patients with xerostomia in traditional Korean medicine.

KOGAS(Korea Gas Corporation) has about a hundred of local stations to supply natural gas to the city gas companies and the power stations. As some severe flow fluctuation phenomena are observed in several governor stations, the investigation about the reasons and factors which are relating to flow fluctuation has been started. Some field surveys hav been carried out and experimental studies have been performed to find the fluctuation mechanism. As a result, it is found that the flow fluctuation is related with the length of straight pipe in front of the meter, the size of the header pipe and the variation of demand at the city gas company and the power station. Furthermore. it is also proved that both the length of the transmitter cable and the status of the coating of signal transmission cable do not affect flow fluctuation, but the measurement range of the differential pressure transmitter influences flow fluctuation. On the other hand, as the averaging the flow fluctuation is converged to less than 0.1 % in almost all of the cases, it is concluded that the quantity of flow fluctuation do not relates to metering accuracy directly.

The suspension plasma spraying is a modification of conventional plasma spray techniques that has been developed to overcome the challenge of using fine particles in plasma spray processes. In this study, microstructure developments and mechanical property of yttrium oxide (Y2O3) coatings prepared by the suspension plasma spray coating technique have been investigated to determine the effect of processing parameters including plasma gun current and total gas flow. The results showed that a highly dense Y2O3 coating having low porosity of 0.2 vol% without any lamellar structures can be achieved at the optimum condition of gun current 200 A and total gas flow 220 L/min.
PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the effects of different surface pretreatment techniques on the surface roughness and shear bond strength of a new self-adhering flowable composite resin for use with lithium disilicate-reinforced CAD/CAM ceramic material. MATERIALS AND METHODS. A total of one hundred thirty lithium disilicate CAD/CAM ceramic plates with dimensions of $6mm{\times}4mm$ and 3 mm thick were prepared. Specimens were then assigned into five groups (n=26) as follows: untreated control, coating with $30{\mu}m$ silica oxide particles ($Cojet^{TM}$ Sand), 9.6% hydrofluoric acid etching, Er:YAG laser irradiation, and grinding with a high-speed fine diamond bur. A self-adhering flowable composite resin (Vertise Flow) was applied onto the pre-treated ceramic plates using the Ultradent shear bond Teflon mold system. Surface roughness was measured by atomic force microscopy. Shear bond strength test were performed using a universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min. Surface roughness data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA and the Tukey HSD tests. Shear bond strength test values were analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests at ${\alpha}=.05$. RESULTS. Hydrofluoric acid etching and grinding with high-speed fine diamond bur produced significantly higher surface roughness than the other pretreatment groups (P<.05). Hydrofluoric acid etching and silica coating yielded the highest shear bond strength values (P<.001). CONCLUSION. Self-adhering flowable composite resin used as repair composite resin exhibited very low bond strength irrespective of the surface pretreatments used.

This study reports on a uniform resin coating method by using a doctor blade type dispenser. For high productivity, continuous imprint-lithography has been studied, and developed fabrication systems are used in several applications such as anti-reflection films, dry adhesives, and water collecting surfaces. In the continuous fabrication field, researchers have typically focused on patterning and demolding procedures. During the roll-to-roll fabrication process, however, the uniform resin coating process is also important in order to obtain a high quality product, which can be evaluated by uniform thickness, precise geometric expressions, and a thin residual layer. To achieve these, a doctor blade type dispenser was designed and fabricated. As a result, thickness of coated resin was well controlled by modulating the flow rate of the resin and blading gap. In addition, a very thin layer coating process (${\sim}10{\mu}m$) was achieved by softly contacting the blade on the substrate.
Liquid desiccant cooling technology can supply cooling by using waste heat and solar heat which are hard to use effectively. For compact and efficient design of a dehumidifier, it is important to sustain sufficient heat and mass transfer surface area for water vapor diffusion from air to liquid desiccant on heat exchanger. In this study, the plate type heat exchanger is adopted which has extended surface, and hydrophilic coating and porous layer coating are adopted to enhance surface wettedness. PP(polypropylene) plate is coated by porous layer and PET(polyethylene terephthalate) non-woven fabric is coated by hydrophilic polymer. These coated surfaces have porous structure, so that falling liquid film spreads widely on the coated surface foaming thin liquid film by capillary force. The temperature of liquid desiccant increases during dehumidification process by latent heat absorption, which leads to loss of dehumidification capacity. Liquid desiccant is cooled by cooling water flowing in plate heat exchanger. On the plate side, the liquid desiccant can be cooled by internal cooling. However the liquid desiccant on extended surface should be moved and cooled at heat exchanger surface. Optimal mixing and distribution of liquid desiccant between extended surface and plate heat exchanger surface is essential design parameter. The experiment has been conducted to verify effective surface treatment and distribution characteristics by measuring wall side flow rate and visualization test. It is observed that hydrophilic and porous layer coating have excellent wettedness, and the distribution can be regulated by adopting holes on extended surface.
Bipolar plate is the main part with MEA in automotive PEMFC. It must have a good electrical conductivity and excellent corrosion resistance, be cost effective. Therefore, stainless steels have been studied by many researchers because of its corrosion resistance and cost benefits. But their properties are not sufficient for the application to bipolar plate for automotive PEMFC. In this work, we have performed stamping using various commercial stainless steels to select candidate material for biploar plate and to derive design parameters for stamping simulation. The results showed that a small curvature at the corner of flow field is more favorable due to easier a plastic deformation. Stamping process was simulated by changing surface condition, and the size and angle of channel. The optimum shape and spring back phenomena were evaluated. Surface coating was applied to increase the corrosion resistance and electrical conductivity of stainless steel. The electrical interfacial resistance was 10 to $15m{\Omega}cm^2$ under clamping force of 150psi. But corrosion resistance of coating on the stainless steel was not good due to the unstableness of microstructure.
Nano-TiO$_2$ photocatalytic coatings were deposited on the stainless steel 304(50$\times$70$\times$3mm) by the APS(Atmospheric Plasma Spraying). Photocatlytic reaction was tested in MB(methylene blue) aqueous solution. For applying nano-TiO$_2$ powders by thermal spray, the starting nano-TiO$_2$ powder with 100% anatase crystalline was agglomerated by spray drying. Plasma second gas(H$_2$) flow rate and spraying distance were used as principal process parameters which are known to control heat enthalpy(heat input). The relationship between process parameters and the characteristics of microstructure such as the anatase phase fraction and grain size of the TiO$_2$ coatings were investigated. The photo-decomposition efficiency of TiO$_2$ coatings was evaluated by the kinetics of MB aqueous solution decomposition. It was found that the TiO$_2$ coating with a lower heat input condition had a higher anatase fraction, smaller anatase grain size and a better photo-decomposition efficiency.
